We're about to start our 11th episode of Hot Dice. Some notes before we begin... \ Matt Ringgenberg returns with two match wins and $87,400. He needs to win this and the next two matches to retire undefeated and win a brand new car. \ For the rest of the universe, if you win five matches in a row, you get a car. \ As always, if you need a refresher on the rules, www.dougmorris.net/dice has the rules sheet. Now it's on to qualifying. The player closest to the right answer, high or low, opposes Matt. Here's the question. On August 17, 2012, at 11:30am Central, we watched a rerun of "Lingo", hosted by Chuck Woolery, on GSN. The two teams scored a total of how many points in this episode? Please respond in increments of 25 points. This game operates on 24-hour deadlines. Please PM me your answer. I'll reveal the right answer after time elapses for the qualifying period.

All right, this was a high scoring game... (ding)...Team 1 defeated Team 2 by a final score of 400 to 275. Who's the closest? 375 CCSCOClément Couvreur takes on the champ -- after station identification.
Announcer: You're watching The Shoals' NBC -- WOWL.
(outside The Bill Cullen Studio, Doug parks a Mercedes-Benz E550 Cabriolet into his usual parking spot; then, he opens the door and addresses the viewing audience) Hi, I'm Doug Morris. By the end of this week, one of our contestants could drive home in this fantastic car. Find out how -- as we play Hot Dice. (cue opening sequence; theme plays)More that a million dollars in cash prizes are waiting to be won at the dice table on -- Hot Dice. (audience cheers)(Doug walks up to dice table with keys to Mercedes still in hand) Helloooo, everybody and a warm welcome to Hot Dice -- where in addition to big cash prizes, someone could win these keys to a Mercedes-Benz automobile. (audience cheers) Oh yeah, and they'd also get the car. (audience laughs) All someone has to do is win five matches in a row. Our current champion is on a two-match winning streak -- and if he can win three more matches this week, he'll take that car home. Let's welcome back Matt Ringgenberg -- who returns with $87,400 -- and welcome aboard Clément Couvreur. (audience cheers)First, let's take a moment to meet our players -- starting with Clément.

I'm Clément, 25, from Angers, France. I'm a great fan of gameshows and sports, even if my soccer team had a painful moment yesterday, losing by an own goal at last minute.

Oooooh, that does hurt. Well, may your team recover from that and may they put together a winning streak.
Clément, good luck to you. Matt, good luck to you as you go for your third straight win. For any new viewers tuning in for the first time, please give them a brief synopsis of the Matt Ringgenberg.

And a much richer man, courtesy of this dice table. Matt looks to continue his winning ways. Clément is looking to dethrone him and win big himself. Let's start Game 1 of a new match. (ding)In Hot Dice, a game consists of six rounds and a catch-up round. Until we reach that catch-up round, each round starts with a toss-up question. The winner of each question earns a free roll of the dice -- and, from there, has a chance to build up a pot of money. Matt, Clément, hands on buzzers, please, because here comes your first question. "Opulent Countryside", "Orange County" or "Ocho Cinco". What does the "O.C." stand for in the TV show title "The O.C."? 42 CCSCO 26 mringgenberg 11 randomizer.org(Matt buzzes in)Matt?

That's it -- Orange County. (audience applause) Matt, you get a chance to take that free roll. (Matt rolls)(audience cheers) Wow! Doesn't get much better than that -- the yo-leven. At $100 a point, we seed the pot with $1100. Now -- as long as the dice stay hot, we keep adding money to the pot. Matt, you know this. For those who don't, Matt has the option of banking this money and starting a new round with a new toss-up question -- or he may risk the money and roll again. From now until a new round starts, any roll of a 7 ends the round in a bust. That means a loss of all the money in the pot and a score of nothing for the round. The double decision board is now active. Anytime Matt or Clément rolls a double outside of the free roll, he has the option of having the roll played normally and having us had the roll's value in hundreds of dollars to the kitty -- or he may go to the corresponding screen on the board and hope for a better addition to the pot. Those screens hide thousands of dollars in cash, smaller payoffs, surprises and the word "bust" -- which, just like rolling a 7, ends the round with bupkis. So -- Matt -- do you bank the 11 -- or roll to avoid the 7?

(Matt rolls) (doubles cue; audience cheers)Wow! Boxcars trigger a double decision. Matt, would you like for us to add $1200 to the pot... ...or go to the double 6 screen and hope for something better. Now there could be a bust or a paltry payoff there. Then again, there could be thousands of dollars there. There could be as many as five free rolls in that screen -- which could *really* add to the pot. What's your double decision?

Hank, Junior, is right. (audience applause) You won $2200 in the last round. Let's see how you're going to start here. (Matt rolls)And -- low numbers this time. The 2 and 3 start off a new pot with $500. Bank the five -- or try to thrive? (audience shouts suggestions)

We'll take that as an answer of 0 -- and you're right. (audience applause) Didn't think we could stump someone from France on that one. Now, let's see how you are at dice. Roll 'em, please. (Clément rolls) (scattered cheers) Good free roll -- a 9 for $900. Now, Clément, you're down by $4100. Somewhere on the double decision board, there's a $3000 space. Another screen hides as many as five free rolls. Of course, there are hazards if you decide to roll again -- whether or not you throw a double. Want to bank $900 -- or roll again? They were married for 38 days. "Less" could mean more money for you -- because you're right, Matt. (audience applause)Free roll again is yours. (Matt rolls) OK, a 7. Normally that's a bust. But you can't bust on the free roll. So we start off a new kitty with $700. The next 7 in this round will bust you out of the round. So -- bank the 700 or roll again? (audience shouts suggestions)
