(applause)
The general consensus seems to say they think you made a smart play John.
Next question...
If it's a "Bull Market", are stock prices rising or falling?
(Players submit to me please, via private message, a buzz code from 01-100 inclusive, no later than 3:45pm EST on Tuesday, October 25th).

Correct!
(applause)
You have 7, your opponent has 13. You can keep the card yourself and try to improve your hand, or you may pass it to John to try to bust him. If John doesn't go over, he'll have the option to freeze.
What do you want to do Matt?

I'll keep the card.

I had a feeling you might have passed it. Let's see what you have kept Matt. (some gasps in the audience) Yes indeed, that would have busted John... However Matt, you are now at 17. You may freeze or continue playing. If you freeze, John will have to keep answering questions correctly to earn additional cards. At this point if you freeze, John would need a 5, 6, 7 or 8. What's your decision Matt?

Manuela has just placed the freeze bar up so Matt you're frozen on 17. John, here is your next question. Either an incorrect answer or taking too much time (answer needed by 6:40pm EST on Thursday, October 27th) and Matt will win the first game of the match. John... True or False San Antonio is Texas' capital city.

False is right! (applause) Austin is the state capital of the Lone Star state. Anything less than a five and the game will continue. Remember, no ties on Gambit, you must get 18 or more without going over 21 to win John. An 8 would be a thing of beauty for you. Anything more than 8, a thing of beauty for Matt. And speaking of beauty, Manuela, please reveal this pivotal card for our challenger. picosong.com/jb59/Too much! And the game goes to Matt! picosong.com/3zeF/So our current champion Matt Ringgenberg has drawn first blood in this best two out of three game match. Manuela will clear the board and we'll set up for game number two, but first, this...

Our source on Gambit PM for a lot of the questions we ask is the twenty-two volume World Book Encyclopedia, including the research guide and index volume. Since we did not have a 21 during that last game, the Any 21 Jackpot has now grown to... (clang) $7,000. (cheers & applause) Manuela, please deal up the first card in this second game of our match between John and Matt... Wow, that's three Jacks in a row now! Here's the question... 74, 84 or 94 miles per hour. What is the wind speed when a tropical storm becomes a hurricane? picosong.com/g3fZ/John - 16 Matt - 90 Buzzcode - 12 John you are in first. John's answer (given in PM) - "84". And no I am sorry John, it's actually 74 miles per hour when a tropical storm becomes a category 1 hurricane. At 84, that's my wife driving down Interstate 95. (chuckles in the audience) Matt, you control the fate of that Jack. Do you wish to keep the card or give it away?

Matt you are in pretty good shape to win another match. John, you know what you have to do. You must get 21 exactly to tie up this match. It has been done before, let's see if it can be done again. First, you must come up with a correct answer before earning a card. Fictional character Rip Van Winkle. Did he sleep for 10, 15 or 20 years? (Answer due no later than 1:45pm EST on Tuesday, November 1st...wow it's almost November already?!?!?!?!)

Is correct! First card please Manuela... Whoa!!!!! (applause & cheers) If you can get a ten or face card to go with that, we'll have a tie match, but you have to earn that card first John. Next question... The sport of curling, did it originate in Canada, Scotland or Norway?

Scotland is right Laddy! (applause) Either a ten or a face card will win you this game John, $1,000 plus $7,000 in the Any 21 Jackpot and more importantly, force a rubber game in this match. Manuela, what's the next card? (loud groans in the audience) A four will give you 21 and the game John. John, here's your next question. Please answer by 4:55pm November 2nd. Houston, Charlotte or Jacksonville Which U.S. city is home to the National Football League's newest franchise?

(Buzzer) Oh no, it's Houston. And Matt Ringgenberg remains Gambit PM champion.
(Win cue music)
The Houston Texans began in 2002 while the Jacksonville Jaguars began in 1995.
John, according to Manuela, not that this is much of a consolation, the next card was a ten, and the following card was a King, so you would have gone over anyway, even if you had gotten this question and the next one correct.
And speaking of consolation John, we have some very nice parting gifts for you, plus a house minimum of $500 in cash. Thank you for being here with us.
(((stopping tape)))
(((Due to exhaustion from being up all night, watching an epic game 7 of the World Series, and also needing to get some more Gambit Board material, I'm temporarily pausing the game here. I won't be on here this afternoon for when I get home from work, I will be hitting the sofa for a long nap LOL))).
