Hello friends,
After episode 4 of Blockbusters ends, I will be placing it on hiatus and hosting a new "original" game here.
This is a game I first came up with back in 2007, but it was much different.
This game involves elements of High Rollers, Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck.
The game is "Dice Words". Below are the rules.
The first 2 who sign up for this will get to compete, however, keep in mind I most likely will not be starting this until after I conclude "Blockbusters", especially since I'll be pinch-hitting for Tony Lane on Gambit.
Thanks!
Bill
DICE WORDS
The object of the game is to roll a standard pair of dice which will uncover letters of a 6 letter word, and to have the highest money total after four words and four turns of the money dice have been played.
The main game is played in three rounds. The first player to win two rounds wins the game and plays the bonus game for a chance to win up to $25,000.
Only the player with the highest money total after the fourth word and fourth turn at the table with the money dice wins the round and gets to keep the money.
If the score is tied after the fourth turn at the table with the money dice, one playoff word is played to determine the winner. The player who causes the tie will control the dice first and have the option to roll them or pass them.
If at the end of a round a player has less than $500, their score will be augmented to $500.
If each player wins one round, a tie-breaking, one playoff word will be played. The player who solves it first wins another $500 and the game.
During the first two rounds, solving each word scores money as follows:
Word 1 - $100 Word 2 - $150 Word 3 - $200 Word 4 - $300
After a word is solved, the solver then has the option to roll the money dice or pass and force their opponent to roll instead.
The money dice are as follows:
On one die there appears: “Roll Again”, “2x Roll & Roll Again”, “$50”, “$75”, “$100” “$125”.
On the other die there appears: “$75”, “$75”, “$100”, “$125”, “$125”, “Bandit”.
If “Roll Again” or “2x Roll & Roll Again” come up, the player must take another roll. They get another roll even if the other die comes up with the Bandit.
If the Bandit is rolled, all money scored during the round at that point is lost, and the player’s score is reset to $0. Any money won from previous rounds or previous days is safe.
One roll of the dice could be worth anywhere from $125 up to $250 (or more if a player gets on a roll with the "Roll Again" coming up repeatedly), or it could wipe a player out entirely. For this reason, strategy has to be used by the player to determine if it is in their best interest to roll the money dice, or pass to their opponent. The “2x Roll & Roll Again” space simply doubles the dollar amount on the other die. If the Bandit turns up on the other die next to “Roll Again” or “2x Roll & Roll Again”, the score drops to $0 and the player simply rolls again. This way if a player wipes out, they could still have life!
In Round Three, just one tie-breaking word is played. The first player to solve it wins the round, the game and another $500, as there will be no money dice rolling taking place during that round.
When the regular dice are rolled, whatever numbers appear on the dice will determine which positions of the word are revealed.
At the start of each word, the player in control may opt to roll first, or second, as the dice change hands after every roll until the word is solved. The player who solves the last word starts with control of the dice for the next word during the same round.
In Round One, the champion, or acting champion has the dice first. The loser of Round One gets control of the dice at the start of Round Two. If a playoff word is needed for Round Three, the player with the higher money score controls the dice first.
So for example, if the word was “ROLLED”, and a player rolled a 2 and a 3, the word would look like this:
_ O L _ _ _
If the player makes a guess and is right, they will win money plus the option to roll or pass the money dice.
If a player makes a guess and is wrong, or exceeds the deadline, the other player gets a bonus letter exposed to them before rolling the dice.
That bonus letter may help them solve the word, and if so, the player may take a guess. If they are wrong, then play returns to the first player, along with another bonus letter being given.
The only time a bonus letter will not be given is if it is the only remaining unrevealed letter in the word. In that case if an incorrect guess is made, clues will be given and buzzcodes will be required.
A bonus letter is also given to the opponent if a bad roll is made. Using the above example, if a 2-3 is rolled again, no new letters would be revealed, so a bonus letter is revealed for the other player.
Bonus letters are always chosen by the contestant who gains control of the word.
If a double is rolled, such as 5-5, the 5th letter is exposed (unless it is already revealed), plus one other letter of the roller’s choosing to be revealed.
The entire word will never be revealed, there will always be at least one letter left concealed. If neither player can solve it, then clues will be provided to come up with the correct word. If that happens, buzzcodes will be required.
BONUS GAME:
The day’s champion plays for up to $25,000.
They will get 1 free roll of the bonus money dice, and can earn up to 4 more rolls.
Three more Dice Words will be played, one at a time.
The champion will get 2 rolls of the dice to uncover a maximum of 4 letters of a 6 letter word.
The champion will also receive 2 bonus rolls total, if needed.
If the champ is unable to solve a word after 2 rolls, s/he may take 1 more roll of the dice hoping to uncover another letter. S/he gets one guess for free after the second roll. If wrong, they get one bonus roll.
For getting one bonus word right, they will earn 2 more rolls of the bonus money dice. For getting two bonus words right, they will earn another additional roll. If they get all three bonus words right, they will earn another roll of the bonus money dice, for a maximum total of 5 rolls of the bonus money dice.
After all three words are played the bonus money dice are rolled.
The 2 dice are as follows:
One die – “Double”, $1,250, $1,000, $750, $400, $250 Other die – $1,250, $1,000, $750, $500, $350, $0
After all the rolls of the money dice are complete, the player will then have one last roll of the regular dice to determine how much of that bankroll, if any, s/he will actually win, unless they have $0 in their bank, in which case the bonus game ends.
With the final roll of the regular dice:
7, 11 or 12 wins double the bank. (9 out of 36 outcomes double the money). 6 or 8 wins the bank only. (10 out of 36 outcomes pay even money). 2, 5, 9 or 10 wins ½ the bank. (12 out of 36 outcomes cuts the money in half). 3 or 4 loses the entire bank and the player ends up with $0. (5 out of 36 outcomes loses it all).
Players continue on until defeated by a new challenger.

Would Raymond Weaver and Matt Bingel kindly check in please?
Also, upon check in, would each of you send to me via a private message 10 "roll codes"? All codes are from 1-36.
I will have here a deck of 36 cards to simulate a pair of dice, since 36 combinations are possible, that's why there will be 36 cards.
After each roll of the game dice and the money dice, I will reshuffle the deck, then I will apply your roll code to the fresh shuffle.
I figure this will keep the game moving on a bit quicker.
Raymond, my one concern is I see your replies, especially on Blockbusters which I ended up cancelling, were sporadic at best, so I'm hoping you'll be able to be here to participate and complete this game/match.
Check in please Raymond and Matt and p.m. to me your ten roll codes from 1-36 (inclusive). Once you have done that, and I am here at home to have access to my visuals, we can begin episode 1 of Dice Words.
Thank you...
Bill

Since it would appear Raymond is not coming back for a while, who else would like to compete against Matt in episode 1?

Matt B vs. Matt R. Just like on my first Blockbusters ep!
We'll get this started either later today or sometime tomorrow.
Matt Ringgenberg, if you would be so kind to private message me 10 roll codes from 1-36, I'd appreciate that.
Best,
Bill

And at age 30 you have been out of school for a few years. As for me, I've been out of school almost as long as you've been alive Mr. Ringgenberg! Welcome and I hope you enjoy playing DICE WORDS. Our players will take turns rolling a standard pair of dice. The combinations of those dice will determine which positions of a 6 letter word will be revealed. Matt Bingel, since you signed up first, you will have the dice first... We play 4 words in each of our first 2 rounds. The first word is worth $100... The first player to solve this 6 letter word will earn $100 and then have the option to roll the money dice to possibly add to their score, but more about those later. Matt Bingel, you have the dice. You may roll them first, or if you wish, you may pass them to your opponent and have him roll first instead. There may be an advantage in doing so, then again maybe not. Do you wish to roll first or pass to Matt Ringgenberg?

Well what do you know... a double 6. Just talking about how old I am having been out of school, I was born in '66. Matt, that means the 6th position of the word will be revealed to you, of course....the letter is... An "E". Whenever a player rolls a double, that position of the word is revealed, in this case position 6. Also when a double is rolled, the player who rolled it gets to choose any other letter to be revealed. Matt Bingel, which other letter would you like revealed?

1st one.

We'll see how that strategy works... A six letter word, starting with P and ending in E. Matt Bingel, I'm going to call you Matt B for short, you may attempt to solve the word right now. If you do so and are right, you will score the first $100 of the round and have the option to roll the money dice. If you try to guess the word and are wrong, your opponent there, Matt R. will get to select a bonus letter, which might help him out. So do you want to try to solve the word, or do you pass Matt B? If you pass, Matt R. then gets the dice to roll, as the dice always switch hands after each roll.

I'm going to take a guess and say Pickle.

That certainly would fit.
Oh mighty sound effects person, is the answer "PICKLE"?
BUZZ
Oh no I'm sorry Matt B., it is not pickle. So that helps Matt R. now as he knows that is NOT the answer. It also helps Matt R. because now he gets to select a free bonus letter.
Matt B. do you want me to reveal space 2, 3, 4 or 5?

Position 4 is... An "A". Matt Ringgenberg, you can try to solve the word right now. A correct answer wins you $100. An incorrect answer will give your opponent a free letter and he will also get the dice back. On the other hand you could try to roll, but if you make a bad roll, then Matt B. will also get to pick a bonus letter, so some strategy to consider here. Matt Ringgenberg, do you want to try to solve this word, or roll those dice?

I'm going to solve it.

Well that would certainly fit. For $100 and control of the money dice, is it "PHRASE"? BUZZ (audience moans) No, that's not it either, so sorry Matt R. Now control goes back to Matt B. ' Since Matt R. also gave an incorrect solution, Matt B. now gets a bonus letter. I think I know which one you'll want, but I'm required to ask, which letter do you want revealed Matt B, 2, 3 or 5?
