Welcome to Episode 59 of On A Roll. \ Bryan Law returns on Level 1 with $500 and no strikes \ We're back to the regular waiting list rules. So please consult DougMorris.net/oar before trying to qualify. \ We're seeking a challenger for Bryan. That could be you if you're the closest to the right answer to this qualifying question. Before the show, one of our models rolled five Nerdocrumbesian money dice. The numbers 1 through 6 were replaced with, respectively, 2¢, 4¢, 8¢, 16¢, 32¢, and 64¢. What was the combined value of the roll? Please make sure your answer is higher than 8¢, lower than $3.22, and in increments of 2¢.Please PM dougmorrisontheair (that's me) your answer in 24 hours from now.

Okay, let's see the roll... ...couple of 16s, a 32, an 8 and a 2. Of course, these are based on the doubling cubes in Backgammon and you don't roll the double cubes -- unless you're Nerdocrumbesian. Anyhoo, the roll totals... (ding)...74¢. Who's the closest? 80¢ gameboy2000 Sharp shootin', David. Off by just six cents. OAR coming up shortly.

Great to have you here from Virginia. Players, best of luck to you both. We begin the competition with a name game. (FF reveal sfx)And we start with a ten-letter surname. I'll read a question and three letters will randomly pop in. When they do, you may signal and give an answer. Now, not only is the answer long, the question's a little long -- so play carefully. Members of this TV family were on a roll during happy days. What is the fictional characters' shared last name? (ding)
(Bryan and David, please PM me your buzz code from 1-100 and your answer.)

42 Bryan 43 gameboy2000 62 random.org(David buzzes in) David? David: Cunningham (dings; audience cheers)The Cunningham family -- one of TV's best known families. That's right. Okay, David, please step into the box. Four rolls of the dice are yours. Before you roll, let's get a game board ready. (FF reveal sfx; Lorelei poses by board)And there they are -- three sets of clue words hidden by numbers. The clues lead to the identity of a person, place or thing. David, you'll be rolling numbers and sums to uncover as many of the letters that make up the words as you can. The letters blocked by question marks stay blocked until you correctly solve a clue. When you're on a roll, please do not roll doubles. Anytime you roll doubles, you lose control of the dice to your opponent -- who picks up a free letter along the way. (Puala hands dice to David) So, with the rules out of the way, David, you -- are on a roll. (audience cheers as...) (David rolls)And your first roll is a 4 and a 3. This means you may take any 4 and 3 off the board -- and you don't have to play them from the same row -- or you may play the sum and take a 7.
