Last fall, I had started a series called "The Price is Right Marathon" which was going to accumulate winnings over a season to determine a champion. The problem is the leader after the first episode got banned for life from the forum, so I wasn't sure how to proceed, so I've decided to abandon that idea. Instead, I've come up with a different take on "The New Price is Right" which is basically a hybrid between the Doug Davidson version and the current network daytime version.
Here are the details of the format:
- Like the Doug Davidson version, there is no Contestant's Row as contestants are on stage immediately after being selected. Also like this version, there are only 3 contestants on the show
- Like the daytime version, there is a Big Wheel, however it is used in a completely different way -- it has letters on it instead of numbers and it helps determine which pricing games the contestants will play
- Each contestant will play at least one pricing game, but will have the option to risk losing what they won in the first game to spin the wheel again and play a second pricing game. If the contestant loses that second game, they also lose everything they won in the first game
- After all 3 contestants are finished with their pricing games, the two who have won the most advance to a playoff pricing game to determine an overall winner. If two or more players are tied in winnings, those tied will play a tiebreaker pricing game to break the tie prior to playing the playoff game
- The winner of the playoff game plays a bonus pricing game where the contestant can win an additional amount worth possibly more than $40,000 -- this replaces the standard Showcase to end the show
- The winner also becomes the current champion and returns on the next episode to defend against two new contestants
I need 3 contestants to play, but I would like to draw from as big an audience as possible, so if you'd like to play, PM me your interest in playing and in that PM, please include a number from 1 to 1000 which will be used to randomly select our three contestants.
I plan to start the show this Friday, May 24 so the deadline to enter as an audience member will be that day at 10:00am PT.

Okay, same for you Kevin, please PM me your number.
We have our minimum, so the show is on, but I'd still like to draw from an audience pool, so the "studio doors" are still open until Friday 10:00am PT.

Okay, the studio doors are now closed and we have 6 audience members from which 3 will be chosen as contestants. Prior to each "Come on Down", I will use Random.org to draw a random integer (which I will post in the thread) and of the 6 PM'd numbers I have already received, whomever has the closest number will be selected as the contestant.
The show will begin shortly.

(audience begins cheering and applauding)
Burton Richardson: "Here it comes from the Bob Barker Studio at CBS in Hollywood, as three contestants from this audience will have thousands of dollars worth of cash and prizes in sight, when they come on down to play The New Price is Right! (more cheers and applause) And now, here's the host of The New Price is Right...Glen Brown!"
(continued applause as I emerge from Door #2 and walk towards the front of the stage) (The giant price tag descends from the ceiling behind me) (I am greeted at the front by Anne de Paula who hands me my microphone) Thank you, Anne -- let's hear it for Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Anne de Paula, ladies and gentlemen -- she is one of our lovely models here on The New Price is Right! (audience applauds) And keep it going for our beloved announcer, Mr. Burton Richardson! (continued applause) We thank you for that applause folks! Welcome to The New Price is Right and let me assure you fans of the network daytime Price is Right that this is still your favorite game based on the pricing of merchandise with wonderful awards for smart shoppers. We call it The New Price is Right because we are focusing on what we believe are the most exciting aspects of the daytime show, that being the spinning of the Big Wheel and, of course, the playing of pricing games. In fact, one of our three contestants today will end up as our champion and that contestant could play as many as 4 pricing games before all is said and done, including one that will be played as our Bonus Round which could award our champ more than $40,000 in cash! (audience applauds)
Now, speaking of contestants, if we're about to do a bunch of wheel spinning and game playing, I suppose I'd better have a contestant standing next to me to do those things!
Burton, can you help me out with that, please?
Burton Richardson:
"I sure can Glen, let's find Bill Skinner -- Come on Down! -- you are the first contestant on The New Price is Right!"
(music plays and audience applauds as Bill makes his way down the aisle and up on stage) (I walk back beside the giant price tag and shake Bill's hand as he arrives next to me)
Bill, you've just made history, you are the very first contestant on The New Price is Right! Welcome to the show and please tell us something about yourself before we proceed.

Well, the Mets are near .500 right now and well within striking distance of first place with most of the season to go, so they're in okay shape right now. I'm a Blue Jays fan myself and, uh, yeah, c'mon Vlad Jr. is all I can say! (audience chuckles)
It's a pleasure to have you here Bill! The first thing on our agenda today is behind this giant price tag. Let's raise it up, please.
(audience oohhhhs)
Bill, this is our Big Wheel and as you can see, it looks quite different than the daytime one. We don't use our wheel to determine who is in the Showcase at the end of the show, because we don't have a Showcase at the end of our show. We use our wheel to determine which pricing game you are going to play!
As you can see, there are single letters on the wheel, a combination of letters on the wheel and some words on the wheel. In a moment, you're going to spin it and if it lands on a single letter, you'll get a choice of pricing games beginning with that letter. In some cases, such as "AIJ" as you see here, we've grouped letters together since there are so few games with names beginning with that letter, but the premise is still the same -- land on AIJ for example and you can pick from games whose name begins with A or I or J. Finally, there are two words on the wheel -- CHOICE and RANDOM. If you land on CHOICE, as you might suspect, you'll get to choose from any of the more than 100 pricing games on our show as your pricing game to play. If you land on RANDOM, our computer will randomly choose a pricing game for you.
Do you have any questions about that before we proceed, Bill?

In case you have no questions Bill, let me explain how our wheel spins because it's slightly different from the daytime wheel.
Our wheel spins at a constant speed until you decide to stop it, which you will do by giving me a number between 1,000 and 10,000. That number represents the amount of milliseconds before the STOP button is pushed. So, for example, 3500 would be 3.5 seconds, 6037 would be slightly more than 6 seconds, etc.
At that point, the wheel will begin to slow down and shortly thereafter, come to a stop, which will determine what group of pricing games you can choose from.
So, unless you have a question Bill, please respond with "Spin ####" where #### is your millisecond number.

The wheel has stopped on the letter T, which means you get to choose from a selection of our pricing games whose name begins with that letter!
Bill, which of these games would you like to play?
(ding)
You can play "Take Two" where you might win 4 nice prizes, you can play "Ten Chances" where you might win 3 prizes, including a vehicle of some sort or you can play "2 for the price of 1" where you can win a pair of prizes totaling in the thousands of dollars.
Now, before you choose Bill, keep in mind that after you finish playing this first game, you will have the opportunity to spin the wheel again and play a second pricing game if you wish, but if you do that and lose that second game, you will also lose whatever you win in whatever game you choose here. The idea being that at the end of the show, you want to at least be in second place in terms of total winnings to advance to the playoff pricing game.
With that food for thought, which game would you like to play, Bill?

(fade in with theme and applause)
Welcome back to The New Price is Right! To my right, I have Mr. Bill Skinner and to my left, the pricing game he has chosen that is our first game of the show.
Bill, you can win three prizes in this game, but we also have a built-in bonus that you can win, depending on how well you play. If you win all three prizes, we'll give you a bonus of $1,000 for every unused chance you have remaining. So, if you use up 9 chances to win the three prizes, you'll get a bonus of $1,000 or if you do it in 8 chances, that'll be a $2,000 bonus and so on, up to a perfect playing of using up only 3 chances netting you a $7,000 bonus! (audience applauds)
Now, the prizes get more expensive as we go along, but we start off with a small prize that has two digits in its price...
...and here's the lovely Jessica Aidi, another of our SI Swimsuit models that will be helping us today, to show you your first prize while Burton describes it for you.
Burton Richardson: "With the Oster brand, you can cook with passion and serve with pleasure. Contemporary styling and design to enhance your counter-top and help you open any sized cans in a breeze."
Bill, there are two numbers in the price of that prize. Using two of those three numbers, please write down the price of the can opener.

Bill says that can opener is twenty bucks, is he right?
(bzzzzzzzzzz)
No, try again Bill with chance number 2.
He goes with forty dollars this time and...
(ding ding ding ding)
...let it be written in history that the first prize we ever gave away on this show was a can opener! (audience chuckles)
Well done Bill, you have 8 chances remaining and 2 more prizes to win...
...and here's the lovely Camille Kostek to show you your next prize while Burton tells you all about it!
Burton Richardson: "The WindTunnel 2 High Capacity Upright holds more dirt, dust and pet hair, with the suction power to pick up stubborn messes and the Bottom-Release Dirt Cup allows you to empty the canister with ease."
Thank you Camille and thank you Burton!
Bill, this is a three-digit prize this time, so please use three of those four numbers and write down the price of that vacuum.

Bill's first guess on the vacuum is $280
(bzzzzzzz)
That's not it, you're on chance number 4 now.
Bill tries $290 next.
(ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding)
Very well played, Bill! You have 6 chances remaining to win your final prize in this game which is concealed behind this door...
Let's show Bill his final prize!
Burton Richardson: "It's a new car! (audience applauds)
The all-new Santa Fe is about helping your drive become safer and it starts with the SUPERSTRUCTURE frame at its core. This frame is engineered with Advanced High Strength Steel for superior rigidity, providing added protection in the event you cannot avoid a collision. Beyond the strong foundation you are surrounded by a suite of driver assistance technologies actively scanning your surroundings to help keep you safe on your journeys. It's the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe!"
That's a nice-looking vehicle Bill and you have six chances at it! This time around, you use all five of those numbers to make up your price. If you can get it right now with chance number 5, I'll give you the car and a bonus of $5,000!

There's no way I'm going to lose this one!

There's no way you're going to lose that one, indeed! Bill nails the price of that car with his first guess!! (audience cheers and applauds)
Fantastic stuff, Bill! You've won a can opener, a vacuum, a new car and five thousand dollars in bonus cash...
...for a total of twenty-eight thousand seven hundred eighty dollars! (audience cheers and applauds)
Now, we come to the part of our show that is the main reason we call this The New Price is Right -- if you want, you can play another pricing game!
Here's the catch though -- to do that, you must risk each and every dollar you just won.
At the end of our show, the two contestants who have won the most continue on in a playoff against each other to determine our champion. Depending on how the rest of the show goes, $28,780 might be good enough for first place, or if the next two contestants fair even better, it might only be good enough for a handshake from me with farewell wishes.
It's your decision, Bill -- you can stop now and everything you've won is yours to keep and we'll see if your total holds up for at least second place or you can try to add to that total by spinning the wheel again and playing a second pricing game.
Once again though, as soon as you spin that wheel, you must play and win that second game, otherwise, you wind up with nothing.
What's your pleasure, Bill? Go for more or stop now with what you've got?

(I shake Bill's hand in congratulations)
We'll see how it plays out, Bill. There might be a bonus of more than forty-thousand dollars for you yet -- you stand by for now though if you would, please. (Bill exits stage left) (audience applauds as theme plays)
We're off to a great start, folks! Mr. Skinner was near perfection in his pricing game and we'll find ourselves another contestant and play another pricing game after we find out about this! (continued music and applause then fade to black)
