Greetings, all.
Save for Daytime OAR, I've made the executive decision to put all the games I host solo on hold. This is due to my vacation roughly one month from now. Long story short: I don't want to run into a situation of "hurry up and wait".
So with that, we're looking for three fellow netgame hosts for The Name's The Same. Been awhile since we played this.
This works like the ABC series from the black-and-white TV days -- but with these exceptions.
\ Each player is allotted up to seven questions.
\ There are three checks at $5000 each in play in every game. If a panelist (netgame host) uncovers the actual first and last name of the challenger, who's the name twin of a famous person, before all 21 questions are exhausted, the panelist claims all three checks and makes his/her favorite charity $15,000 richer in the process. If not, the challenger (someone I know or "know of") claims all the checks.
\ As with all netgames here at NGC, we're not playing for real money; it's all for funzies.
To play, please respond with the title of at least one netgame you host -- so that we may give you props during introductions.

KGO SAN FRANCISCO/OAKLAND/SAN JOSE Staff announcer: ABC 7 News -- where you live.
(Doris Day's rendition of "Hooray for Hollywood" plays over various scenes from Hollywood, including the "Hollywood" sign, streets and even the Walk of Fame) (fade to said Walk of Fame as audio on the song is lowered just a bit) Doug: I'm taking a stroll on a well-known part of real estate -- the Hollywood Walk of Fame. You'll know for sure you've made it big -- if your name appears on one of these stars. Tonight's challengers just happen to share their first and last names with famous people. And even *I* know what it's like to share my name with a famous person. (Doug stops on this star...) Doug: This star doesn't belong to me -- it's for record executive Doug Morris -- who worked previously as a songwriter and producer. But, enough about him and me. Let's meet our guests -- and the panel who will try to figure out what their names are -- on "The Name's the Same". (much updated version of "Shooting Star" by Sidney Torch plays) Bill Kennedy: Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to play "The Name's The Same". (audience cheers) Then as now, "The Name's The Same" is brought to you by the makers of Clorets, the delicious chlorophyll chewing gum that makes your breath kissably sweet in seconds. And now -- here's our host, Doug Morris! (audience cheers)Doug: Thank you, Bill. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to "The Name's The Same" -- the game where you work to identify the names of ordinary people -- who share their names with famous people. Doug: Here to uncover those famous names are these famous folk. First, from Pass the Buck, Evan Hatfield. (audience cheers)Doug: From Daytime Wheel of Fortune on The CW, Bryan Law. (audience cheers)Doug: And here to hopefully win big money for part of our audience, from Bullseye, Jon Darrall. (audience cheers)Doug: Now, for a little something different, our panelists are playing for people in our audience tonight. Each host has been assigned to a rooting section. So when a host wins, so do the members of the rooting section. Right now, panel, let's get right to the first game and our first challenger. A nice round of applause for Madame X. (audience cheers)(Madame X enters; she and Doug shake hands) Doug: Welcome, Madame X. Madame X: Thanks, great to be here. Doug: We'll find out who you are for real. Panel, before we tell you how we play our game, let me give you a head start hint. Madame X shares her first and last name with a well-known game show personality. We'll show that name to our home audience only. (Madame X actual name is displayed in post production) Doug: Now an overview of the rules. Before the show, we gave each panelist a check. It looks like this... Doug: ...and it's in the amount of $5000. But at the end of the game, only one panelist will hang on to that five-grand and take the others' checks in the process -- *or* -- all three panelists will surrender their checks to our challenger. If the panel is stumped, Madame X is $15,000 richer. If a panelist uncovers the actual identity, $15,000 will be evenly split among the members of the winning rooting section. Now let's spot our panelists seven questions to ask. (ding)Doug: Panelists, when it's your turn, your may ask a question or pass your turn to the next host in line. Keep in mind your question must lead to the answer of "yes" or "no" -- *and* you must ask your question as if the famous person is the challenger. For example, let's say Madame X's name is Markie Post. You could ask her, "Did you deal cards on a game show?" "Did you go on to become an actress?" "Did you play the part of an attorney on 'Night Court'?" "Are you Markie Post?" The moment your question leads to the actual first and last name of our challenger, you keep *your* $5000 -- and the others lose their checks to you -- meaning your group becomes at least $15,000 richer by the end of the night. Keep in mind you may ask no more than seven questions. If your seventh question doesn't correctly identify our challenger, you'll be forfeiting your check to someone else. Again, Madame X shares her first and last name with a well-known game show personality. Evan, you're panelist number one. We'll start the questioning with you.

I've spent a bit too much time in my life watching Game Show Network and Buzzr, so it was pretty much a matter of process of elimination once I'd gotten the shows whittled down a bit.

I'm curious, Evan. Reruns of the original LMaD were also on the CBN cable network -- later rechristened as The Family Channel and now known as FreeForm.
Did you see LMaD on that channel, Evan?

That was long before my time, Doug, though I've probably seen an episode or two that's on YouTube because it aired on that channel way back when. With technology like that, who needs time travel?

(scattered laughter from crowd) Doug: Fair enough. Carol, you've seen the original LMaD, right? Carol: I was a little girl when the original series was ending. So my memories of seeing the famous Carol Merrill weren't great -- until my parents told me LMaD reruns were on cable -- probably CBN. I could see how she became a fan favorite. Doug: Couple of fun facts, panel, to wrap this up. This Carol Merrill is a businesswoman in Mississippi. Also in Mississippi, we found a used car dealership in the coastal part of the state. The business's name -- Monty's Used Cars. (scattered laughter from crowd) Doug: And the sign outfront reads -- "let's make a deal". (audience laughs; smattering of applause)Carol: I actually saw that when my family and I went on Spring Break. Doug: So we have a second. Carol, before you go, I don't want Bryan's and Jon's groups to go away from this game empty-handed -- especially when they didn't even get a chance to play. Carol: Okay. Doug: (reaches under desk; places cash box in front of Carol) So here's a cash box I've just placed in front of this lovely Carol Merrill. And I've got an envelope here with a check inside. Bryan, Jon, you get to choose between the cash box and the check. Whatever you choose will be evenly split among your rooting section. So, please decide. (rooting sections shout out suggestions)

Doug: Okay, Carol, please open the box and see what's there. (Carol opens box; only finds small cube) Carol: Oh no. (shows standard small dice cube to camera) Carol: It's the gremlin from the Crag home game. (audience groans; wonk wonk wonk wonk) Doug: Ohhhh darn the luck. Sorry about that. Now -- let's see what's in my envelope. (Doug opens envelope; shows check to camera) Doug: Not too bad -- $1900. (scattered applause) Doug: In fact, Bryan, we're going to buy back the gremlin cube for $100 a pip. We always replace a 2 with the gremlin. The remaining sides total 19 pips. So, suddenly, this crummy cube... (audience applause) Doug: ...is also worth $1900. So all three sections are going home with some money. (audience applause) Doug: Carol, as our way of saying thanks to you, we've got more than $1900 in gift cards and prizes. Carol: Thanks, Doug. This was fun. Doug: Back with another game of The Name's The Same -- after this. (much updated version of "Shooting Star" by Sidney Torch plays) (more cheers) (fade to black)

"The Name's The Same" c/o ABC 4151 Prospect Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90027
Bill: If you or someone you know someone has a famous name -- and would like to be a challenger on a future show -- just drop us a line at The Name's The Same, care of ABC, 4151 Prospect Avenue, Los Angeles, California, 90027. Now, back to Doug Morris and The Name's The Same. (audience cheers) (music fades) Doug: I thank you Bill. Already, all members of our studio audience know they're going home with a bit more cash than they walked in -- with Evan's third of the audience raking in the lion's share thus far. But we're about to play another game for more money with our next challenger. A warm welcome, please, to Mr. X. (audience cheers) (Mr. X enters; takes his seat; guest and Doug shake hands) Doug: Welcome, Mr. X. Mr. X: Hi, Doug, and everyone. Great to be here. Doug: Panel, Mr. X shares his first and last name with that -- of an American historic figure. Think American historic figure -- as we show the name to our home audience only. (challenger's name added full screen in post-production) (ding) Doug: We've replenished Evan's supply of questions to seven to make the playing field even. But it's Game 2 and we start with our second panelist. Bryan, that's you. Please beginning the questioning.
