Thank ya, Steve. For anyone just joining us, where the heck have you been?!?!? (scattered laughter from crowd) We're in the midst of a turnabout project. Tony hosted the Match Game and will guide us through the Super Match later. Steven Solsak over here won $1000 for The Ellen DeGeneres Gorilla Fund in the first part of *our* game of games -- the Match Game. And now, Steven, you get to play Hollywood Squares.Joining us for Hollywood Squares are Matt Bingel, the star of Password Plus; Vincent Easter, the star of Snakes and Ladders: Deluxe; and Sergio R. Rodriguez. Steven, to use your wife's terminology, please join us over here for some Noughts and Crosses. (Doug and Steven go to HS players'/host's area) (audience cheers)Steven will play the noughts as our challenger. Playing the crosses is our defending champion, Anthony Long, with $6700 to his credit. (audience cheers) Modest beginning -- but much more can be won. Players, you know how this works. There are four ways you can win a round of Hollywood Squares.Capture three squares straight across -- that's a winner. Capture three squares in a vertical line, that's also a winner. Capture three square diagonally -- that's *also* winning. You can also win a round if you capture any five of the nine squares up there -- even if you don't get three of them in a row. Every time you capture a square, you win $250. Winner of this first round also receives $1000. The player with the higher money score when time is called becomes or continues as champion -- and then plays the Super Match with Tony for a hundred grand. (audience cheers)Anthony, as our defending champion, you'll start us off. Please pick a star.

(audience cheers)Center square extraordinaire Greg Palmer, our champ's trying to put an X in your square. Let's see if he succeeds with this question. You're spending a week's vacation in Liechtenstein -- and you'll need to exchange your American dollars for what?
|
|
|
Post by palmer7 on Feb 28, 2019 23:21:07 GMT -5
When I travel, I use American Express Traveler's Cheques. Protected money for my traveling furnished by American Express -- don't leave home without it. (I hold up a cheque)
Now, I don't know why anyone would be going to Liechtenstein, and I really don't know why anyone would want to exchange money, but if you're into collecting that sort of thing, you'd swap your dollars for Swiss francs.

Liechtenstein's official currency *is* the Swiss franc. Anthony, you're right to agree... (audience applause; ding)...the center square and $250 are yours Steven, eight squares remain. Where would you like to try to place an O for you?

Let's Go with Tony Lane please

(audience cheers)Tony Lane -- longtime co-host of this show. Longtime host of others -- including card games which require the assistance of beautiful women to distribute those cards. So -- this should be up your alley. You're playing Euchre with three blonde sorority sisters.(men in crowd hoot and holler) Now -- yes or no -- are you playing with a full deck of 52 playing cards? (audience laughs)
|
|
|
Post by tmann3x on Mar 1, 2019 23:48:11 GMT -5
I assume the three sorority girls' names are Pamela Anderson, Denise Richards, and Stormy Daniels... right?
(audience laughs, catcalls from male audience members)
OK, OK... I believe the answer is yes.

Steven, Tony says he and the ladies are playing with a complete deck of 52 cards in Euchre. What say ye?

Sheesh -- no need to rub it in. (scattered laughter from crowd) Not counting the sixes and fours that might be used to keep score, you're playing with 32 cards at most -- the Ace through seven of every suit. Every suit Ace through nine is more common -- which would make it a 24-card deck. Either way, Steven you're right to disagree... (audience applause; ding)...you've got a corner and we've got a tie ballgame. Anthony, back to you.

(audience cheers)Interesting choice. Let's see how this turns out. Sergio, here's your query. Inventors of this device originally called it the "X-Y position indicator". We commonly refer to it as what?

What's my question? Oh, yes! X and Y position indicator. Hmmmm, this sounds algebra to me, Doug. I'm sure Anthony did these things like anyone did during High School. Is it...Displays?

Wellll -- the X-Y position indicator should help you creating displays and possibly solving algebra problems. But the X-Y position indicator is actually better known as a mouse for your computer. (buzz) Sorry, Anthony, but you should've disagreed. (ding)That gives the lead and another corner O for Steven. Steven, who do you turn to for a possible third O?

Um, let's see. It might share the same name as a certain dance: the Bossa Nova.

Anthony, you're in a tricky situation. We're going to let you have extra thinking time for your next move -- while we take a break for all the great NBC stations across this nation. Thanks, Steve. Welcome back, everybody. Project: Turnabout continues -- and Anthony's looking for a turnaround. He's trailing Steven by $500... ...and the champion's X in the center is surrounded by three Os in as many corners. Anthony, who do you turn to for a possible second X?
