Indeed not a block attempt -- but you never know -- this may work out as we ask Nels this. According to Erasmus Darwin, the first law of nature is eat or -- what?

Erasmus Darwin's first law of nature is eat or bark, says Nels. For your second X, Anthony, what say ye?

Right on all counts. All you had to do was disagree... (audience applause; ding)...and you've earned your second X. Now the challenger looks for a fourth O -- where, Steven?

(audience laughs and applauds) Well done Nips-- I mean, Steve. (scattered laughter from crowd) Challenger going for a horizontal win across the lower tier -- with this question to the star. The 1930s gangster movie "Scarface" was set in Chicago, Illinois. Roughly half a century later, the remake of "Scarface" was released. The 1980s reboot starred Al Pacino and was set in -- what state?

Shock and Disbelief!
(audience laughs)
Chicago was a big mafia city in the early part of the 20th century. Hence the first movie set there. I think....That given a rise in crime closer to the east coast later on....that it was set in New York, New York is my answer.

Steven, he says the '80s remake of "Scarface" was set in the state of New York. For the round, what's your call?

[NOTE FROM DOUG: Due to host error, we're restarting Round 2.]
Alfredo James Pacino and company remade "Scarface" in the Miami area. Florida's the right answer. Round and $1000 to Steven. (dings; audience applause; win music plays; MG-HSH theme plays) Well done, Steven, you're now leading... ...$2000 to $500. Anthony, plenty of time for a comeback. Steven will start our secret square round -- worth $2000 plus $250 per square. You know how this works. Pick the star randomly determined to be seated in our secret square, capture that square -- and you'll win our stash of prizes. On the last show, we seeded our stash with a digital camera, a trip to Beijing with $2000 to spend while you're in China -- and a bumper pool table. Steve, what are we adding to the stash today? (prize music plays)Steve: It's a new spa! (audience cheers)Steve: Relax at home with the Beachcomber hot tub -- and bring your friends together for soothing comfort with more than 100 jets to smooth away the cares of the day and leave you rejuvenated. This prize is worth $8900 -- making the value of the secret square stash $30,582.(cheers and applause)Thanks, Steve. Steven, first pick of Round 2's yours. Who's sitting in that secret square?

(audience cheers)Secret square's not in the center -- but a chance to pad the lead with this question to Greg. Which rendition of the Christmas song "Must Be Santa" came first: the version by Bob Dylan -- or the version by voice actors from "Pokémon"?(scattered laughter from crowd)
|
|
|
Post by palmer7 on Mar 8, 2019 14:04:54 GMT -5
Now this, my friends, is what we call a MGHSH Trick Question.... you'd think that since Bob Dylan's been recording longer, his version would come out first, but perhaps Bob hadn't gotten around to recording it before the Pokémon cast did. So, for that reason, Pokémon came first.

The original American Pokémon voice cast's version of "Must Be Santa" was released in 2001 as a part of the anime's Christmas album. Bob Dylan's version was released, from his Christmas album, in -- 2009. Strange but true. (audience applause; ding)Center square and $250 more for you, Steven. Anthony, your first chance to find that secret square comes now.

(audience cheers)Going for your first corner. Tony, you and I know a thing or two about dice games -- so this should be up your alley. You're at a Craps table in the high roller room -- (scattered laughter from crowd) -- ya see what we did there already. Let me take this from the top. You're at a Craps table in the high roller room of a casino -- and you've rolled an Australian yo. What is the sum of your roll?
