Helloooooo, everybody -- and welcome to the 2018 Net Game Awards. Are we ready to celebrate tonight? (audience cheers)I'll take that as a yes. Now, first of all, you've probably wondered why it's taken so long to get this show on the road. (scattered laughter from crowd) Well, first of all, I wanted Kawhi Leonard to host this show. (audience hisses and boos)Yeah, trying to get him to do anything was a chore in and of itself. (scattered laughter from crowd) As those negotiations were going nowhere, my entourage kept getting calls from none other than Matt Lauer. (more groans and boos)Yes, he actually want to host this show, start out with a long mea culpa and go from there. I finally intervened and told him, "Matt, you can host the Net Game Awards when Mt. Rushmore includes the likeness of Andrew Johnson." (audience laughs and applauds)As if *that* weren't enough, Charlie Rose's camp caught wind of all of this -- and suddenly *he* wants to host the Net Game Awards. (more groans and boos)I called him up and told him, "Charlie, you can host the Net Game Awards when NBC reboots SuperTrain." (audience laughs and applauds)I know this year's show is on NBC -- but even the suits of the here and now acknowledge that was a terrible idea. The final hold-up -- where to have this. All the theaters in New York and L.A. were booked solid. They were showing nothing but Star Wars movies. (scattered laughter from crowd) And then I thought, ya know, it's been a few years since I was here in the Alamo City. I've missed the RiverWalk, the Alamo, the Tower of the Americas -- (audience cheers) -- and the margaritas! (more cheers)In all seriousness, we appreciate everyone's patience through it all.
