The audience has saved you, you've got $300! (correct answer cue, some applause) $300 Now, we could ask you another 9,997 questions worth $100 each to get to the million, but I don't think any of us have the time or the patience, so how about we start upping the stakes a bit? For $500... Which of the following gives an inventor exclusive rights to their invention?

$4,000 ($8,000 lights down cue)Alright, we're setting a pretty good pace here - $8,000 next, but you know what I'm going to ask first, even though your answer probably hasn't changed - do you want your safe point here?

Once again, I fear if I use the 50:50, the 2 possible choices I have in my mind will be the last 2 remaining answers.
I love Italian food, but one of these four I have never even heard of, so that puts me in a pickle too...
And I don't know if a Phone A Friend would help either.
Do I gamble and pray I'm right? If I swap the question and I find out I'm right I'll feel badly....
My instincts tell me, educated guess, that PESTO is what it is. I know pharmacists use a pestle for crushing and grinding, and pest is part of pesto.
So my gamble is I'll take an educated guess here and say B. Pesto, final answer...

(4th wall note: Just so you know Bill, 50:50 is completely random in this version. The way I'm doing the randomization, there's only a one in three chance you'll get left with the two answers you're debating over.) A. Alfredo | B. Pesto | C. Marinara | D. Milanese |
Guesses, even if they're educated, can cost you dearly in this game sometimes, you know. Not this time, you guessed right! ($8,000 win cue, cheers and applause) What type of sauce gets its name from the Italian word meaning 'to pound'?

Well, it wasn't the Spirit of '76. Spirit of America was also wrong. So that leaves you between Chicago and St. Louis. ...St. Louis is right for $16,000! ($16,000 win cue, cheers and applause) What was the name of the plane Charles Lindbergh flew on the first solo, non-stop transatlantic flight?

Depending on my final total Evan, but more than likely every last penny I take home, after taxes, will go directly toward my son's college expenses. He's made it through 1 year, and has 3 more to go.

College certainly isn't cheap nowadays, but we hope we can help with those expenses as much as possible. Let's talk a little more about the money... (cue music as the money tree pops back up) [50:50][PaF][---][StQ] | 15 $1 MILLION | 14 $500,000 | 13 $250,000 | 12 $125,000 | 11 $64,000 | 10 $32,000 | 9 · $16,000 | 8 · $8,000 | 7 · $4,000 | 6 · $2,000 | 5 · $1,000 | 4 · $500 | 3 · $300 | 2 · $200 | 1 · $100 |
You're just six questions away from one million dollars, that would probably take care of college and then some. Next question is for 32 grand - go for it and miss, you'd lose $15,000. But don't be too concerned about that, you still have three of your four lifelines available if you need them. You also have a safe point to set - I know you're getting tired of hearing this, and to be honest, I'm getting tired of asking this, but the rules are the rules, so here we are. Do you want to set your second milestone at the $32,000 mark?
