A: 50% B: 0% C: 33% D: 17%
Well, there's a clear frontrunner this time, but it's up to you how conclusive those results are.

I'm sure it's NOT Morroco, and it's NOT my country Spain. Well, as in "Hollywood Squares" usually say: "I disagree with the audience". Because it's Denmark. Le Danemark C: Final Answer.

(final answer cue)From which country did the United States purchase the Virgin Islands?
A. Great Britain | B. Spain | C. Denmark | D. Morocco
|
You sound mighty confident there - almost too confident, even. Why are you so sure?

|

Because the British Virgin Islands comes from Great Britain, but it belongs as one of the British Overseas Territories.

But then what made you sure it was Denmark?

After considering Morroco and Spain as wrong answers which would cost me $93,000.

Fair enough, I suppose. You're well aware, of course, that the audience is almost always right. ...but this time, they're wrong, you're right, you've won a quarter million dollars! ($250,000 win cue, the audience applauds) From which country did the United States purchase the Virgin Islands?
A. Great Britain | B. Spain | C. Denmark | D. Morocco
|
$250,000 Well played, my friend! (lights down cue plays)[----][---][---][---] | 15 $1 MILLION | 14 $500,000 | 13·$250,000 | 12·$125,000 | 11·$64,000 | 10·$32,000 | 9 · $16,000 | 8 · $8,000 | 7 · $4,000 | 6 · $2,000 | 5 · $1,000 | 4 · $500 | 3 · $300 | 2 · $200 | 1 · $100 |
Thirteen correct answers in a row is no easy feat in this game, but here you are, Sergio. That said, you've gotten all the help you're going to get - if you want to make it to the million, you'll have rely on your own intellect on these last two questions. Now, let me just remind you of the gravity of the situation here. This next question is worth half a million dollars - get that, you may become one of the most popular students in Spain. But you can do the math here - go for one of the three wrong answers you're about to see, and you'll lose $218,000. But let's try not to think too much about that as we go now for $500,000... ($500,000 question cue plays)By what name is acetylsalicyclic acid more commonly known?
A. Vitamin C | B. Aspirin | C. Vinegar | D. Ibuprofen
|
I tell you what, we'll change the question - just pronounce acetylsalicyclic, we'll give you the half million. (audience laughs)

I'll tell you what, Evan. It's NOT Vitamin C and It's NOT Ibuprofen. So, this time I'm between B and C.

Evan. I've told you last night: I still don't like science. However, I want my friends (Two of them are studing Health Science) to be proud of me. I'll go for B: Aspirin. Final Answer. (Cross my fingers)

OK, after some PM conversations with Sergio and a few hours of thinking, here's the conclusion I've come to.
I truly believe Sergio means well; however, there have been more than a few irregularities in this game of Millionaire, and I can't just let that by, it would set a bad precedent. Therefore, I am disqualifying Sergio from this current game with no winnings (not that the last bit really matters, the prizes are fake anyway). That said, I will allow him to compete in Fastest Finger First in a future episode should he wish to take part.
For the sake of the episode, we'll pretend the rest of the game played out as it would (yes, Sergio was right on that last question, for the record). We'll pick up shortly here with a Fastest Finger First question for the six of you waiting to play.

(aaaaaand action!) That may be the end of one game, but the game as a whole is never really over - we just go right back and do it again with another lucky contestant. With that said, say hello to our super six in the Ring of Fire tonight, and they are...! (cheers and applause as the contestant music plays) Kevin Kolsen! Anthony Long! Frank Sartori! Kourtney Wilson! Bill McDee! and Matt Ringgenberg! (and the music concludes - but cue more music - loop the first twenty seconds or so as needed) Alright, welcome, all of you. You're just one Fastest Finger First question away from the hot seat. You know what you need to do - one question, four answers, put 'em in the correct order in the fastest time and you'll win yourself a trip to center stage and a chance at the big money. (4th wall: the closest buzzcode will win it, as explained in another thread) Right, those are the rules, so here we go, here comes your Fastest Finger First question... (cue :23 on the above music clip) Put these words from the Pledge of Allegiance in the order they appear, starting at the beginning.
(ba-ba-BA! - cue :32 on the same clip)
A. Indivisible | B. Flag | C. Justice | D. Republic |
(contestants, you have 24 hours to PM your answers and buzzcodes)

(BANG!) Alright, it's time to relive those elementary school mornings. Let's go through it, shall we? (cue the music)It goes, "I pledge allegiance to the... B. Flag(bang!)...of the United States of America, and to the... D. Republic(bang!) ...for which it stands, one nation, under God... A. Indivisible(bang!) ...with liberty and... C. Justice(bang!) ...for all." Right, we've all got that out of our systems now, let's see who got it right and who's headed for the hot seat. (doo-doo-doo!)BUZZCODE: 99 Kevin Kolsen | 55 | Anthony Long | 66 | Frank Sartori | 66 | Kourtney Wilson |
| Bill McDee | 76 | Matt Ringgenberg | 36 |
Five people got it right, but Bill McDee's patriotic buzzcode is the closest to our buzzcode, he's our winner! (win cue, cheers and applause as Bill joins me at center stage) Bill McDee's in the hot seat after the break! Don't miss it! (commercial cue)

(fade up) MILLIONAIRE MOMENT: NIGERIA(beginning of video to about 52 seconds) (applause as we cut back to the studio) Aaaand we'd like to apologize to any viewers who experienced hearing loss as a result of that clip. (some laughter from the audience) In all seriousness, it goes to show you that this show really has changed lives all over the world. Here we are, hoping to change another life right now. This is Bill McDee from the suburbs of Philadelphia, and he's been in that Ring of Fire for a while, trying to make it into the Hot Seat. How does it feel to finally make it here, Bill?

Well, it's quite alright, I think it's safe to say you still have plenty of supporters here in the studio. Isn't that right, audience? (audience cheers, applauds, etc.) So there you are. Let's talk about the reason we're all supporting you right now... (rules cue plays)[50:50][PaF][AtA][StQ] | 15 $1 MILLION | 14 $500,000 | 13 $250,000 | 12 $125,000 | 11 $64,000 | 10 $32,000 | 9 $16,000 | 8 $8,000 | 7 $4,000 | 6 $2,000 | 5 $1,000 | 4 $500 | 3 $300 | 2 $200 | 1 $100 |
Now, I'm sure you know these by now, Bill, but for the benefit of all 23 people out there who haven't seen Millionaire before, let's run through them quickly. 15 questions now stand between you and a million dollars! Get more questions right, get more money. Get a question wrong, you'll drop down to the last safe point. Remember that you get to choose where your second safe point goes, so keep that in mind as you play. And of course, to help you get to the big bucks, you've got your lifelines: 50:50... (ping!) Phone-a-Friend... (ping!) Ask the Audience... (ping!) ...and Switch the Question. (ping!) Bill, are you ready to give this a shot?

M*A*S*H just won you a hundred bucks! (correct answer cue, some applause) $100 Want to go for $200? Let's go for $200... What traditional Thanksgiving dish is also the name of a country?
A. Turkey | B. Robin | C. Chicken | D. Finch |

Much as I love Batman, I must answer A. Turkey, final answer.

Yup, it's Turkey! (correct answer cue, some applause) $200 How'd you like another hundred dollars? The Grim Reaper is normally depicted carrying what object in its hand?
A. Book | B. Sword | C. Scythe | D. Shield |
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Jun 8, 2018 21:01:20 GMT -5
Egad...I'm afraid if I use the 50:50 here, the 2 that I'm pretty certain are wrong will be the two taken away.
I'm fairly confident that it is neither a sword nor a shield. A shield protects and the Grim Reaper is taking a dying person away, so he wouldn't need a shield for protection, and if the person is dying already, no need for a sword I wouldn't think....
Much as I hate to do this, I think I will need to ask the audience because I cannot remember if it's a book or a scythe that he carries...and I am in no hurry to find out on a first-hand basis either (chuckling).
I'll ask the audience on this one Evan.

(FYI my edit was due to a spelling error, I had written "A shield protect" and I simply added the "s" on at the end of the word protect.)
