Figuring a bird in the hand... Plus all 5 of those Fool's Gold cards are still lurking. How much is this Random Riches worth? Oh boy! (Wild cheers and applause) Another $6,925 in cash! Very good intuition in keeping that one Kourtney!!! That catapults you back into the lead Kourtney. $11,075 to $4,850 and a question for Sergio. Sergio, I know you are from Spain but the question is about people in the United States. What percentage of the United States population is left-handed?

I'm afraid that I'm not left-handed. Let's go for 44%.

44 percent says Sergio. Kourtney, you might have an advantage as you're from the United States. Is the actual percentage higher or lower than 44%?

I heard somewhere that about 10% of the world are leftists so I am going to say lower.

(mumbling in the audience) Sounds as though the term "leftists" has made our audience a tad uneasy (chuckling)... I promise audience it's just about which hand is used... Sergio is locked in at 44 percent, our champion Kourtney is locked in with lower. And the actual percentage of the United States population who actually are left handed is... Only 13 percent! Lower was right Kourtney. Oprah Winfrey, Babe Ruth, Christopher Knight of "Brady Bunch" fame and former U.S. President Obama are all famous Americans who are, or were, left-handed. Kourtney, you control the board once again. 18 boxes remain, 13 are safe. Both players have been able to avert all of the Fool's Gold cards thus far. A little over 72% of the board is safe Kourtney. With all this in mind, do you wish to pass or play?

Time to pick a corner. 21 please.

Taking a big risk, over $11,000 in cash at stake... 21 is... A TAKE card, one of two on the board... Sergio does have one prize you could take, the $850 flatware to add to your winnings if you wish, or you can hang onto the Take card Kourtney. If you do hang on to it, you cannot take a prize until you win another toss-up question, so it's up to you what you want to do.

I am going to hold on to it.

Very well. The take cards can also be used to take away the insurance marker if your opponent captures it. Next toss up question to you Kourtney. In what year were the first Grammy Awards held?

Very well. The take cards can also be used to take away the insurance marker if your opponent captures it. Next toss up question to you Kourtney. In what year were the first Grammy Awards held? I can’t exactly remember when the Grammys begin. I know they had a milestone recently. I am going to say 1958.

I'm gonna say after.

Post by billmcdee on May 27, 2018 7:03:29 GMT -5
Kourtney has locked in with 1958 and Sergio says after. The actual year the Grammy Awards began was... 1959!!!! OH SO CLOSE! But it was indeed after. Sergio, the board is yours... 17 boxes remaining, 12 are safe, 5 are Fool's Gold cards which would reset you back to $0. About 70.5% chance of hitting a safe box this time if you elect to play, or you could pass control to Kourtney. What say you Sergio, pass or play?

Duck and dive to number 25.

25, let's hope it's not a Fool's Gold! Oh boy! Yet another money box! Top, middle or bottom Sergio?

Top!

Another $1,250 in cash, tightening the gap a bit more... Gets you up to $6,100 in cash and prizes Sergio. I must say both of these players are exceptional, very good estimators for the most part, and both have been bold and playing the board every time practically, dodging all 5 Fool's Gold cards! I hate to see either one of you lose this match. A quick reset then I will ask Sergio the next question. 16 boxes remain on the big board. 5 Fool's Gold cards 2 Prize Cards 1 Big Ticket Prize Card 1 Surprise card 1 Random Riches card 1 Take card 1 $10,000 cash award 1 Double Gold Card 1 Insurance Marker 2 Cash Boxes 11 out of 16 boxes are now safe, which is 68.75% of the cards being safe. Next toss-up question and this one goes to you Sergio. How many zeroes are in a googol?

Post by romnserg on May 27, 2018 7:49:11 GMT -5
Oh. This appeared on a one million pound question on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". I've heard about the googol. I'm gonna say a 1 followed by: 100 zeros.

That is exactly right! (applause) Kourtney, no need to say higher or lower. Sergio hit it right on the nose! Sergio, you know your options, pass or play?

Ugh. There's still 5 Fools Gold right ahead. This time I will make Kourtney to sweat a little bit and pass control to him.

Kourtney, the board is yours sir. Good luck.

I will take the final corner. Number 5.

Let's see if Sergio's strategy worked... It did for YOU Kourtney! There's that very valuable insurance marker! (applause) That will protect you if you hit a Fool's Gold card, unless it is the last one remaining on the board... Kourtney, a question to you this time. Very appropriate with this being Memorial day weekend... In 1943, how many Allied nations were involved in the war against Germany, Italy, and Japan? That war of course would have been World War II. Kourtney, how many allied nations do you say?
Post by pathfinder20 on May 28, 2018 18:19:10 GMT -5
I am going to say 3.
Post by billmcdee on May 29, 2018 6:35:14 GMT -5
Kourtney says 3 nations.
Sergio, do you believe the correct answer is higher or lower than 3?
Post by romnserg on May 29, 2018 6:39:49 GMT -5
Let's say more.
Post by billmcdee on May 29, 2018 13:48:47 GMT -5
Kourtney says three, Sergio says higher. The actual number of Allied nations who were involved in the war against Germany, Italy and Japan in 1943 was... Twenty six! Very much higher! They didn't call WW II the "big one" for nothing... Sergio, you again control the board, last time you elected to pass control to Kourtney. 15 boxes remain, 10 are safe, 5 are unsafe. 66.67% chance of hitting a safe box. Pass or play Sergio?

Sergio is playing this time. Good luck! Behind 15 is... WHOA BOY!!!!! (applause) You picked the BIG TICKET item! A prize worth more than $5,000... Tonight's big ticket item is a Jack Daniel's Jukebox, retail value....EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! (Cheers & applause) Sergio, you now jump back into the lead, $14,100 in cash and prizes to Kourtney's $11,075 cash total. But beware, for Kourtney has that take card, and I reckon he'd consider taking that $8,000 prize from you! Next toss up question goes to you Kourtney. Control becoming more and more vital...still none of the Fool's Gold cards selected! Sergio, another question about fighting. This time however, it's not about nations at war, rather about a famed American boxer named Rocky Marciano. The question reads as follows... In what year did Rocky Marciano retire from boxing? I don't know if you are at all familiar with him...what would you guess is the year he hung up his gloves Sergio?

Ugh. I'm not involved in boxing at all. Let's try 1956...
Post by billmcdee on May 29, 2018 17:39:05 GMT -5
Sergio says 1956... And he is exactly right AGAIN!!!!!! (cheering and applause) My word! Spot on right again! 14 boxes remaining, 9 are safe, 5 are Fool's Gold. If you pass, Kourtney does have the insurance marker. If you pass and Kourtney hits a Fool's Gold card, he'll be protected but he would have to pick another number right away. How do you play it Sergio?
