(1978 CS Open) ERIN HARRIS: Aces are high, deuces are low! Call it right, and win the dough...on Card Sharks! (1978 CS Theme) And now, here's the host of Card Sharks, Bill Skinner!Thank you, Erin Harris, and welcome to another episode of Card Sharks! We're delighted to have koopakid17 back on our show for the fourth time, and he has won...get this...$62,800 in the first three shows! But there's someone new who's out to stop him, please give a warm welcome to mrb2000! As always, all games are best-of-three, and the objective is to guess a series of five cards correctly before your opponent does. Also, let's give a warm welcome to our two dealers, Amber Lancaster and Tiffany Coyne! And one more thing: The player who wins two matches will then play the Money Cards round at the end of the show. First things first, before you can play your cards, you must answer a series of questions that I will ask you, and we're looking for a number from 1 to 100. Then your opponent has to guess whether the actual number is higher or lower than the number you just guessed, and whoever is closer wins control of the cards. Once again, koopakid17, as our champion, you get to answer the first question. We asked 100 people: "Would you rather spend your vacation at the beach or in the mountains?"How many of them said that they would spend their vacation at the beach?

Give me the beach any day. The mountains are beautiful to look at but give me the sand, surf and women instead. I think many people would agree. I'll say 70.

So koopakid17 says 70... ding!...and mrb2000, is the actual number higher or lower than 70?

My man knows what goes around at the beach.
I'm more of a beach person myself and there are more people who go to beaches that mountains.
So, I'm going to say a little bit higher.

mrb2000 thinks it's higher, and I can see why. ding!Well, the actual number of people who said that they would spend their vacation at the beach is... ding-ding-ding!...88, so it is higher, and the challenger will play his cards first. What's the first card, Tiffany? (8 ♠) It's an 8! Now you can play that card right away, or you can change it and hope for something better. What do you want to do?
Post by mrb2000 on Jul 12, 2017 16:08:27 GMT -5
Let's go ahead and change that 8, please.
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 12, 2017 21:32:46 GMT -5
Sure, we can change the 8, and what does that become?
(A ♥)
An Ace! I know what you want to say to that, but I must ask anyway: Is the next card higher or lower?
Post by mrb2000 on Jul 13, 2017 10:07:18 GMT -5
Lower!
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 13, 2017 10:39:10 GMT -5
Of course, the only way you don't continue is for the next card to be another Ace. Is it lower?
(9 ♠)
ding!
Yes, it's a 9! Now would you like to continue or freeze?
Post by mrb2000 on Jul 13, 2017 11:59:36 GMT -5
Freeze
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 13, 2017 13:40:00 GMT -5
And so we'll freeze at the 9 and get into a new question. mrb2000, we asked 100 people: "Have you gotten more than one free Slurpee on July 11, or 7-11 Day?"How many of them said yes?
Post by mrb2000 on Jul 13, 2017 15:09:19 GMT -5
Well, I mean I do. Who doesn't? Unless you don't have a 7-11 near you.
I will say 73.
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 13, 2017 22:30:21 GMT -5
So it's 73 for mrb2000. ding!koopakid17, is the actual number higher or lower than 73?

I kid you not, I visited four 7-Elevens that day. You do the math. That said, I don't think everybody's heard of that promotion. I'll say a bit lower.

koopakid17 thinks it's lower... ding!...and the actual number of people who have gotten more than one free Slurpee on 7-11 Day is... ding-ding-ding!...71, so it is lower, and koopakid17 gains control of the cards this time. Now Amber, what's his first card? (A ⋄)Well, what do you know! It's the same card that mrb2000 started out with earlier. You might as well say lower on the next card, although you can also change it, which I seriously doubt.

Lower!
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 14, 2017 12:10:01 GMT -5
Surely it has to be lower. Is it?
(K ♣)
ding!
You're right, it's a King! Now would you like to continue or freeze?
Post by koopakid17 on Jul 14, 2017 12:48:29 GMT -5
Lower!
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 14, 2017 22:49:51 GMT -5
Lower than a King?
(4 ⋄)
ding!
Right again! Two cards now stand between you and the first win in the game, so what are you going to do?
Post by koopakid17 on Jul 14, 2017 23:00:23 GMT -5
Higher!
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 15, 2017 23:04:58 GMT -5
Higher than a 4?
(3 ⋄)
buzz!
OH NO!!! And you were doing very well so far. That means, mrb2000, that you must now play the 9 immediately. Is the next card higher or lower?
Post by mrb2000 on Jul 16, 2017 12:19:16 GMT -5
Ok. I guess we're gonna go lower.
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 16, 2017 15:35:38 GMT -5
Is it lower than a 9?
(10 ♥)
buzz!
No, that's not right either! So neither player advances, and our dealers will now load new cards onto the board as we go into our third question, which koopakid17 will now answer. We asked 100 Facebook users who are currently in a relationship:
"Did you meet your current mate on social media?"
How many said yes to that question?
Post by koopakid17 on Jul 16, 2017 23:14:51 GMT -5
I've heard a fraction about relationships met online. Don't want to mention it because it's product placement. That said, I think it's a bit more common now. I'll say 40.
Post by Bill Skinner on Jul 16, 2017 23:36:46 GMT -5
koopakid17 thinks it's 40. ding! Now mrb2000, is the actual number higher or lower than 40?
Post by mrb2000 on Jul 17, 2017 10:30:36 GMT -5
Well, that all depends. I mean sometimes social media can truly make relationships, though that's obsolete a little bit with all the craziness going on with social media these days.
I will say a bit higher, though. I just 40 is a bit too low.
