FRANK: Ugh, I don't know.
(BUZZ!)
ME: All right. James, your answer?
JAMES: Autophobia is the specific phobia of ISOLATION.
ME: That's correct, so James regains the lead and Matt closes the gap further (Applause). James is at $1,150, Frank $1,075, and Matt $925. By the way, Agoraphobia is the fear of OPEN SPACES. Here's a question on BASEBALL.
In Major League Baseball, there are 30 teams evenly divided into two leagues: American and National. I'll give 3 facts. Pick one and tell me if it pertains to the AMERICAN LEAGUE or the NATIONAL LEAGUE. Look at the screen.
A. Current World Series champions. B. Designated Hitter rule at home fields. C. Has only Canadian team.
(BONG! BONG! BONG!)
ORDER: James, Frank, Matt.
ME: James?

Current World Series Champions I believe it's the national league.

The American league has the only Canadian team.

ME: Isn't it ironic? That most certainly is the case. The Blue Jays, here in Toronto, are in the American League. Matt, what about the DH Rule?

(BUZZ!)
ME: The AMERICAN LEAGUE has the DH Rule, so James and Frank score (Applause). I should point out that there are no penalties, so if you are facing a 50-50 proposition, you might as well guess. Scores are James with $1,300, Frank with $1,225, and Matt at $925. Let's try a question on CUSTOMS.
A few years ago, I had the honor of attending a Jewish friend's wedding. Jewish people, as with other people around the world, have unique wedding customs. I'll ask 3 questions about traditional Jewish weddings. Pick one and answer it. Look at the screen.
A. What is a "chuppah"? B. How many blessings does the rabbi recite? C. What does the groom smash at the end?
(BONG! BONG! BONG!)
ORDER: Matt, James, Frank.
ME: Matt, start us off.

(BUZZ!)
ME: Don't worry, those were some tough ones. For C, we had to specifically have a DRINKING GLASS, Matt. A bottle wasn't good enough. For A, a "chuppah" is a CANOPY under which the ceremony takes place. For B, the rabbi recites SEVEN blessings. James scores on that one and surges into the lead with $1,600 (Applause)! Matt is at $925, while Frank is at $1,225. Question on CELEBRITIES this time.
Many celebrities go by three names, making it a little disorienting to hear just their first and last names...and that's exactly what I'm going to do (Laughter). I'll give the first and last names of 3 celebs who usually include their middle name. Pick one, and give me his or her missing middle name. Look at the screen.
A. Chloe Moretz B. David Grier C. Jamie Curtis
(BONG! BONG! BONG!)
ORDER: Frank, James, Matt.
ME: This time, Frank starts.

ME: All three right for $100 (Applause)! James maintains his lead. Going to a question on COLORS.
Children's TV game shows often have the contestants wearing colored clothing to designate their team color. I'll name 3 classic kids' TV game shows. Pick one and name the TWO COLORS that the teams wore on that show. Look at the screen.
A. "Fun House" B. "Think Fast" C. "Finders Keepers"
(BONG! BONG! BONG!)
ORDER: James, Frank, Matt.
ME: Starting off with James. Remember, guys, TWO colors.

ME: All three right again (Applause)! And for you purists out there, I accepted Frank's answer of "Blue and Gold," even though it was typically referred to as "blue and yellow" on that show. After all, if "Fun House" could call yellow "gold," why can't other shows?
(CLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANG!)
ME: That signal means it's the end of Round Two. Take a breather, gents, while we recap the scores going into the Countdown Round (theme plays).
MATT: $1,125 FRANK: $1,425 JAMES: $1,800
ME: As you can see, James is in the lead, but the Countdown Round will make this game anyone's to win or lose. We'll take a short break, but before we go, let's try another question for you at home.
In an earlier question, we learned about agoraphobia, autophobia, and acrophobia, which are all among the 20 most common phobias in the U.S. However, none of those is the #1 phobia. What other phobia, starting with the letter A, is America's most common phobia?
ME: We'll find out the answer to this, and play the Countdown Round, when we return on "Split Second"!

(Theme plays as the camera shows me at the contestants' desk, chatting with them)
BRIAN: Welcome back! Did you know the answer to our play-along question: Which phobia, starting with A, is America's most common phobia? It's Arachnophobia, the fear of spiders.
(Cut to an art card plugging the accommodations)
BRIAN: While in Toronto, out-of-town guests and staff stay at the Radisson Admiral Hotel - Harbourfront. Located in the Entertainment District just 5 minutes from the CN Tower and Rogers Centre, this hotel offers bright and airy rooms in a modern property featuring a heated outdoor pool and fine dining restaurant.
(Shot of me back at my podium)
BRIAN: Now, let's return to "Split Second" and play the Countdown Round!
ME: Thank you, Brian! Welcome back, as we've got one heck of a game going, with anyone able to win. This round, the Countdown Round, will determine who goes on to play for the car. Players, we will play this round like before, but with one exception: this time, when you buzz in, you may provide one, two, or all three answers, so long as you give correct answers and WAIT for me to acknowledge them (players, you DON'T need to wait for me to acknowledge if someone passes - only wait if a player gives a right or wrong answer). You will count down one point for every right answer, and the first player to count down to 0 wins the game, an extra $1,000 cash, and a chance at the cars. Let's determine your starting scores.
MATT: 6 FRANK: 5 JAMES: 4
ME: Matt, since you were in third going into this round, you'll start with 6 points. Frank, you were second, so you'll start with 5 points. James, as the leader, you'll start with 4 points. Remember, gentlemen, you MUST WAIT for me to acknowledge a right or wrong answer (but not a pass), or you'll forfeit your turn. Let's begin the Countdown Round...now!
(Countdown Round cue begins)
ME: First question is on TRAVEL.
Every day, millions of people from around the world fly to the European continent. I'll name 3 European airports, and you name the large cities in which you'll find them. Look at the screen.
A. Tegel B. Schiphol C. Gatwick
(BONG! BONG! BONG!)
ORDER: James, Matt, Frank.
ME: James, go ahead.
