Greg Palmer is the current and defending champion on Tony Lane's "Gambit". Tony has been very gracious as he has asked me to serve as a substitute host for episode #16 on Gambit, to which I humbly and gratefully accepted.
Nate Diniz, grand_game 2004, from the old site had requested to play on episode #16. I don't know if you are lurking on these boards or not Nate. If so, kindly check in, but if we don't hear from him in the next day or two, we'll ask for someone else to challenge Greg.
It is my distinct pleasure to present Gambit's Sweet 16 episode to you all.
Best, Bill

Thanks Greg. I contacted our friend grand_game2004 (a.k.a. Nate) on Big Jon's just now. If he doesn't appear in a day or two, we'll get another person to challenge you.

FRANK CALIENDO (imitating the late, great, Kenny Williams): (camera shows Doug) This is today's challenger, Doug Morris... (camera zooms in on Greg) And this is the current champion Greg Palmer, whose winnings in cash and prizes so far total... FRANK - TWO HUNDRED FIFTY FOUR THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS!!! (audience ooohs & aaahs) picosong.com/wicm/FRANK: They have the knowledge....They know the odds....All the rest is in the cards.....on FRANK: Gambit! A game of skill fate and fortune. And now, from Television City in Hollywood, pinch-hitting for Tony Lane is your host... Bill McDee! That's me! Hello everybody and welcome to the Sweet 16 episode here on Gambit. On our last program, Ian Laudato qualified himself for the Tournament of Champions, winning in excess of 2.2 MILLION dollars! So first and foremost our hearty congratulations go out to you Ian! (applause) And not only did I bring my faithful sidekick Frank Caliendo with me, but we also brought our lovely dealer who helps me out on another network, say hello to Lynn Jennings! Good morning Lynn! Lynn: Good morning Bill, good morning everybody. Bill: Lynn, if you would be so kind, please re-introduce our players for today's match. Lynn: Glad to Bill, our returning champion with over POINT 2 million dollars in cash and prizes is Greg Palmer! (cheers & applause) Lynn: And challenging him today is Doug Morris! (cheers & applause) Lynn: Welcome to Gambit Greg and Doug! Bill: Thank you Lynn. Greg Palmer, an author of fiction has won, as Frank said at the top of the show, over $250,000 in cash and prizes! Has that sunk in for you yet Greg? That's a very nice hunk of change.

I'll say it is. And the funny thing is, I didn't even win last game. This is really, really nice. And I just want to say thank you to Heatter-Quigley, MGM, whoever else owns this show now, and everyone. I've had a great time... (seeing Lynn) and I think I'll have an even better time with her.
Lynn: Don't even try it.

And I want to offer equal best wishes to your challenger Greg, his name is Doug Morris! Doug, welcome to Gambit! What would you like for us to know about you?

A pleasure to have a fellow "host" joining us here on Gambit.
Prior to the show, a brand new deck of 54 Gambit cards was thoroughly shuffled under the watchful eye of CBS Standards and Practices. That deck is sealed. Lynn, would you kindly break the seal on that deck of cards please?
Doug, at this time I will ask you to cut those cards. Please select a number higher than 0 but lower than 54. This will represent how deep into the deck the cards will be cut.
And while Doug does so, let me remind our players and viewers alike, that any 21 will win a jackpot which is currently at
(clang)
$6,000!
(applause)
And a 2 card 21 jackpot, known as the Blackjack Bonus is currently at...
(clang)
A big $17,500!!!

Thank you Doug. At the start of each game, the first card will be revealed, and only the first card. I will pose a question to you both, and request for you to submit buzz codes between 1 and 100, inclusive. The player who comes closer to the buzz code, high or low will be the one to have rung in first. I will then acknowledge that player and that player will have 48 hours to come up with the correct answer. If you are correct you score $100 and control the card, which you may keep or pass. The winner of each game earns $500, and the first player to win 2 games wins the match, goes on to face the Gambit Board in the "Beat the Dealer" round, and today folks, we have cash and prizes on that Gambit board totaling over $100,000! (ooohs & ahhs) Furthermore, one of these two players today could win an instant cash prize of ONE MILLION DOLLAR$!!! (wild cheers & applause). And it has happened at least twice already on this show! So without further ado, Lynn, please deal up for us the first card in this first game of our match... Nice card to start with, the Jack of Spades. First question Greg and Doug... You're playing tennis, and you have a score of "Love". How many points do you have? At this time contestants, please submit buzz codes to me via private message.

BUZZCODE - 58 GREG - 26 DOUG - 34 Doug is first to ring in. Doug, please provide your answer and then tell me if you wish to keep or pass the Jack. In the event you get the question wrong, or exceed the 48 hour deadline, then Greg will win the $100 and decide control of the Jack.

A good start for our challenger Doug. Incidentally, for this 16th episode only, I've been authorized by CBS to do this bonus called "Sweet 16". If either player gets a score of 16 during any game of the match, they will receive an instant $1,600 cash! (applause) Now onto the next question and for control of the next card in Lynn's deck. Benedict Arnold, Patrick Henry, or Thomas Paine. Which of these men associated with the American Revolution was noted for the quotation "Give me liberty, or give me death"? Submit your buzz codes via private message to me at this time if you would please contestants.

Patrick Henry, I think.

You think correctly Doug! (applause) Another $100 for you. And if the next card is an Ace, it will be an instant win for you, and another $500 for the game plus the Blackjack Bonus of $17,500. If it's a 6, you'll win an instant $1,600 for the Sweet 16 bonus. A lot riding on this card. Lynn, let's see the next card please... Now! It's a 9. Not a terrible card to get at all Doug. That gives you 19. If you wish, you can freeze, and then Greg would have to get every question right, and get a 20 or a 21 to win the game. If you elect to continue however, you cannot freeze again until/unless you receive another card. So Doug, do you freeze or continue?

(Hi Nate! Good to see you. I know Matt Bingel expressed interest in playing. Perhaps for episode 17 or 18 with Tony, but if you stay tuned to this episode between Greg & Doug, I'll be making an announcement later on. Glad to see you here on the boards Nate!....)

LOL, Doug you must have ESP, I just finished watching 4 Cullen episodes of "The Price is Right"! Doug has frozen on 19 Greg. This now means you need 20 or 21 to win this first game. As you know, in order to win cards, you must correctly answer questions. After every correct answer you will be given a card which you must keep. If you give one wrong answer, or miss one deadline, or go over 21, Doug wins game number 1 and another $500. So here we go... And this question seems rather appropriate, take a listen Greg... Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland, or Barry Williams. Which child actor portrayed Greg, the oldest son on the ABC hit comedy "The Brady Bunch"?

That would be Barry Williams.

Correct! First card please Lynn... (audience groans) Oh Doug, if you had gotten that!!! Next question Greg, For $100 and the next card... Nebraska, Kansas or Oklahoma...What was Dorothy's home state in "The Wizard of Oz"?

Kansas.

Correct! (applause) Another $100 for you Greg, and another card. Lynn, please... A 10 for you, Greg... 12 19, my birth date! Next question for you Greg. A right answer and an 8 or a 9 needed for victory here in game number one... President pro tempore of the Senate, Secretary of State, or the Speaker of the House... Which of these individuals would be first in line of succession to become President of the United States after President Obama and Vice President Biden?

I believe that's the Speaker of the House.
