After discussing with John, I will host my version of TTD, which I did for quite a while over at BigJon. Rules will be more like the classic version we all know and love, with some slight modifications to how the Red Categories and Bonus Round are played. Have a look at the rules.
BASIC GAME:
- Champion takes X, Challenger takes O. X always begins.
- Players take turns answering a question from 9 categories. Of these categories, one will always be a visual, one will always involve wordplay, five will involve general knowledge, and two are RED CATEGORIES involving both players. Red categories will always be explained at the beginning of each game.
- Classic TTD rules. Missing a question results in the box going unclaimed with no chance to steal, unless it's a red category. Boxes shuffle after every turn. Red categories never shuffle into the center.
- 24 hours is the deadline for all decisions or answers.
- All questions are worth $500 to the pot, except the center box, which is worth $1,000 to the pot. The center box question is always a two-part question, and both parts must be answered correctly, in succession.
- In the event that the game reaches a point where neither player can win, the game is immediately called and the board cleared, with 9 new categories and increased stakes (+$250 for outer boxes, +$500 for center, increased as often as needed).
- 3-in-a-row wins the game, the pot, and a chance at the Bonus Round. Runner-up claims $100 for each box claimed, plus $500 for each draw.
BONUS ROUND:
- The champion plays for thousands of dollars in cash and a prize package worth up to $15,000.
- The champion faces the board, now numbered 1-9, and selects a number. The screens conceal 4 X's, 4 O's, and 1 Dragon.
- The champ's objective is to find a Tic-Tac-Dough (if there is one) or find all 8 symbols without hitting the Dragon. For each symbol successfully found, the champion adds $1,000 to the pot. Finding the Dragon immediately ends the game and sends all money claimed to the Dragon's Treasure (more on that in a sec).
- If the player finds the TTD, he or she wins all the money in the pot and the prize package. However, if the contestant finds the TTD in his or her first 3 picks, he or she wins the prizes and the Dragon's Treasure, a jackpot starting at $10,000 and increasing with every Bonus Round loss until won, at which time it is reset.
- Regardless of the outcome, the champ plays on until he or she loses. For every fifth victory, the player wins a new car.
With that in mind, who'd like to be my first two players? I did promise James a spot, so James, you may check in, if you would like.
