ME: Excellent! I guess the way our economy has been, I guess having a job in accounting has been keeping you.....in balance. (Audience members boo and hiss as I look at them in mock disgust) ME: Geez! That's what I get for attending Mr. Martindale's School of Emceeing (laughter). Let's check the board for this game... (Board reveal) ME: Categories are SHOWDOWN; WHERE IN THE WORLD?, which is our visual category; TREASURE HUNT; FINISH THE LIST; SEX SYMBOLS; AMERICAN GOVERNMENT; CHILDREN'S LIT; COUNTRY MUSIC; and "UP" & "DOWN." Let me tell you about the red categories: in SHOWDOWN, the two of you will battle for the box with one two-part question. In TREASURE HUNT, a new red category, you'll get a chance to add up to $5,000 to the Dragon's Treasure we saw earlier. Miss, though, and your opponent will get a chance to add to the Treasure and claim the box. Be careful. ME: With all that out of the way, we'll ask Marc to make the first selection, please.

ME: Center box, SEX SYMBOLS, two-part question for $1,000. Listen carefully.
It's June 29, 1967, on a highway just outside of New Orleans. A car crash has occurred, killing a blond bombshell noted for her role in "Promises, Promises" and her early Playboy pictorial. In the back seat of the car was her then 3-year-old daughter, who survived and grew up to become a sex symbol in her own right, starring on shows like "ER" and "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." To claim the box, please...
1. Name the mother who was killed. 2. Name the daughter who survived.
Here's some extra time to think it over (Extra time cue plays....BONG!). OK, Marc, name the mother-daughter sex symbols I've described. You must give the numbers, as well as the answers.

ME: Right! Way to go (Applause)! Mariska Hargitay and her mother, Jayne Mansfield, just gave you an X in the center and $1,000 in the pot (BONG-BONG!). Let's shuffle for Kevin. (Shuffle effects) ME: Kevin, your first selection, please.

ME: Going for the visual category. Kevin, take a look at this map of the Middle East and look for the nation in red, please. (The screen beside me shows this image...) In the 2016 Olympics, athletes from this country competed as the "Independent Olympic Athletes" and actually won a gold medal. For the upper-right box, name this oil-rich nation.

ME: That's the nation (Applause)! Nice work (BONG-BONG!). Got an O and $1,500 in the pot as we shuffle for Marc. (Shuffle effects) ME: Marc, please select.

I'll go with Finish the List.

|

ME: FINISH THE LIST is the category. Here's the question.
Although the University of North Carolina system consists of 16 different colleges, there are only six named "University of North Carolina," followed by the city's name. Five of those cities are Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Pembroke, and Wilmington. For the box, finish the list and name the sixth city.

Durham?

|
|
Post by jmdarrall on Aug 23, 2016 20:16:49 GMT -5
ME: Oh, my...that's not the answer I have (Audience groans). If you follow college basketball at all, you'll know that the main campus of UNC is in CHAPEL HILL, right next door to Durham and Duke University. Don't worry, man, a lot of people get Duke and UNC confused. It's still early in the game, and anything can happen. Let's shuffle for Kevin. (Shuffle effects) ME: Kevin, please select.

ME: Interesting choice...let's see how it works out.
One of the more recent animated sex symbols is Jessica Rabbit from the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". Jessica's voice was provided by this deep-voiced sex symbol known for her roles in "Romancing the Stone," "Prizzi's Honor," and "Peggy Sue Got Married." For the box, name her.

ME: Not her, I'm afraid. Sorry (Audience groans). The answer we needed was KATHLEEN TURNER. Tough go-round that time, let's see what a shuffle does. (Shuffle effects) ME: Marc, select.

Let's go "Up" and "Down", please.
|
|
|
Post by jmdarrall on Aug 26, 2016 18:08:37 GMT -5
ME: All right. All these answers will contain the word "Up" or "Down," so please keep that in mind.
This 2009 film is adapted from a novel by Walter Kirn, and it stars George Clooney as a corporate HR consultant and motivational speaker as he travels around the country, meeting interesting people and spending much of his time on planes. The movie is noted for its ending, in which Clooney stands in front of an airport departure board and deliberately drops his luggage. For the box, give me the title of this film.

Child's Lit for the block.

|
Post by jmdarrall on Aug 27, 2016 20:40:07 GMT -5
ME: Children's Lit is the category. Here is the question.
Known for her superhuman strength, her pet monkey, and her red pigtails, this creation of Swedish author Astrid Lindgren appeared in six children's novels, several short stories and picture books, and even TV series and movies. For the block, name this little 9-year-old with the mismatched hosiery.

American Government, please.

|
Post by jmdarrall on Aug 28, 2016 10:18:22 GMT -5
ME: Here's the question.
Whenever the President is facing impeachment, the legislative branch actually conducts the trials, but as a check against the powers of both the executive and legislature, this judiciary official actually presides over the removal trial. For the box, give me the TITLE of this official.

Chief Justice.

ME: Judge? Is that good enough? JUDGE (over PA): We can accept that, Jon. ME: You get the box (Applause)! Add an X (BONG-BONG!) and $500. I had either "Chief Justice of the Supreme Court" or "Chief Justice of the United States," but your answer was just fine. Let's shuffle for Kevin. (Shuffle effects) ME: Kevin, please choose.
