Is this similar to Power of 10 or like the Card Sharks questions where you have to predict a certain number or percentage? If so, I'd like to try this out please!

It's sort of like Card Sharks, but no higher or lower.

Thank you Raymond. I'm Bill McDee, age 47, from Pennsylvania, originally New Jersey. I'm married, have one son, am currently employed as a data entry operator for a pharmaceutical research firm. I enjoy writing, and am a novice historian about Major League Baseball, the National Football League, and American Presidents, and I'm very happy to be here today!

Do you have a faviorite football and baseball team?

Not anymore really, but I was a New York Giants fan in the NFL, also always rooted for the Green Bay Packers & Pittsburgh Steelers. And although I am a novice historian about the NFL, I no longer watch it for many different reasons.
With baseball, from 1974 til the early 2000's I was a New York Yankees fan. After they acquired some players who I did not like at all, my passion for the Yankees fizzled. Now I root for teams who have had a very long drought in making the playoffs, such as the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals, who last appeared in the post-season in the 1985 World Series, just months after I graduated from high school.

Well let's give both of them a round of applause.
(audience applauds)
Here is how we play Closer. First I will give you two $1,000.
Bill: $1,000 Matt: $1,000
I will ask you two a survey type question. You two will give me a number between 0-100. (you can give an explanation on your guesses if you like) Whoever is the closest will keep the money, but the person who is farthest will deduct $10 for every one they are off by. The first person that hits zero is out and the winner will move on to the bonus round for a shot at up to $20,000.
(audience applauds)
Here is our first question and it goes to Bill. We surveyed 100 single women and we asked them, "Have uou ever been so curious about how much money a man spent on jewelry he gave you that you asked a jeweler how much it was worth?" How many said they were that curious?
(just reiterating all deadlines are 24 hours)

I know women are very curious about things, especially if they are not totally certain about their "man".
Since this was single women, I'm going to estimate that 24 of them actually had the gumption and the time and willingness to take their jewelry gift to a jeweler to find out the approximate value of it. 24 is my answer.

Bill: 24 Matt: 27
Let us see the answer please.
43
It's 43. That means we take $190 away from Bill.
Bill: $810 Matt: $1,000
We start with Matt for this question. We surveyed one hundred bodybuilders and we asked them, "Which would upset you more: losing your muscles, or losing your hair?" How many body builders said they would be more upset if they lost their muscles?

I'm thinking that has got to be higher, so I'll do the old Price is Right One Bid gambit and say 51 Raymond.

Bill: 51 Matt: 50
Intersting strategy, let's see the answer:
61
Wow, a lot higher then I thought, Matt we have to deduct $110.
Bill: $810 Matt: $890
We move on now to our next question and Bill is gonna start us off. We surveyed 100 United States Congressmen in Washington D.C. and we asked them, "Who is more likely to win a closely fought political campaign: the best man or the richest?" How many Congressmen said the richest man is more likely to win?
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Aug 6, 2014 8:29:43 GMT -5
I'm torn between this answer. Generally it seems the one who spends the most on campaign ads, ergo the richest, seem to win, and not necessarily the best man.
Then again, congressmen are liars and cheats and frauds for the most part, and all tend to believe they are "the best". So for this reason I am torn.
I'd say, experience seems to suggest the ones with the bigger campaign funds tend to win more, so if that is what is defined by "richer", then I'll say that 76 congressmen said that richer men win more than the best man does.
