Bill: 76 Matt: 86
Both going for high answers, let's see it.
56
A lot closer to 50/50 then I thought.
Bill: $810 Matt: $590
That took a good chunk of your money Matt, let's hope for a bounce back with this question and it's yours. We surveyed one hundred people and we asked them, "Have you ever been bitten by a dog?" How many said yes?

I know I was bitten by a dog as a youth, my cousin was as well.
I'm again going to employ a little strategy, and even though I'm sure it's at least half, I'll just go 1 higher and say 38.

Bill: 38 Matt: 37
Let us see the answer.
41
Wow, much closer then anticipated, which means we have to take $40 from Matt.
Bill: $810 Matt: $550
And with that, we are gonna take a commercial break, we will be right back after this.
(audience applauds as screen fades into black)

Welcome back to Closer. Bill has $810 remaining and Matt has $550 remaining, and our next question goes to Bill.
We surveyed one hundred 16-year-old girls and asked them, "In the last week, have you had a phone conversation that lasted more then an hour?" How many girls said yes?
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Aug 7, 2014 14:48:28 GMT -5
Hmm, interesting question indeed. Not sure how many talk on the phone these days vs. say texting, but I'll still say that's a reasonably high number, especially over an hour....
I'll say 61.

Oh my goodness it's a tie, in the event of a tie neither player loses money.
(audience applauds)
On to the next question and it goes to Matt. We surveyed one hundred women over the age of 65 (all these women are single and dating) and we asked them, "Before you accept a marriage proposal, would you ask your children's permission?" How many senior citizen women said they would ask their children's permission?

I think they would perhaps want their children's blessing, but not necessarily their permission...so I'll say 32.

I will be able to pick up this game either Friday, August 15th or Saturday, August 16th.
I will be busy doing laundry, packing, etc. tomorrow after my shift at work, but when I return I can resume.
Meantime, if you require a substitute player for me, so the show can go on, I'll quite understand. Hopefully you can wait though, as this is a rather enjoyable game to me.
Best,
Bill

Bill: 32 Matt: 33
Let us see the correct answer.
16
Wow, a lot lower then I thought.
Bill: $810 Matt: $380
You got some catching up to do Matt, and our next question goes to Bill. We asked one hundred married women, "Have you ever told your kid to eat something because it's good for them, even though the very thought of it makes you gag?" How many women said they have?
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Aug 17, 2014 6:25:25 GMT -5
That's a very interesting question to be sure. Funny too as I was just thinking about my mother too.
Assuming these mothers prepared a meal, I highly doubt they would gag at the thought of their own cooking too much. Any mother worth her salt creates meals for her family out of love. I know that's definitely true of my son's mother.
So I'll say only 13 mothers would gag at the thought of certain foods that they would tell their own children to eat.

45
Oh no, that means Bill is our champion.
(audience applauds)
I'm sorry Matt, it just wasn't in the cards for you today, but we have some nice prizes for you and thanks for being on the show.
Bill, come on down here.
(Bill stands next to me)
How do you feel right now?

How do I feel right now? Mostly with my hands, of course I feel great. Matt was great competition, but I feel honored to be the first champion here on "Closer"!

You ready to try to win $20,000?

I am indeed Raymond

|
Post by bowlerraymond on Aug 17, 2014 22:32:09 GMT -5
Here are the rules, we are gonna start you off with $20,000 in your bank.
$20,000
I will ask you five questions, you give me a number between 0-100, if you are right the money stays there, but for every number you are off, we will take $200. After all five questions, any money that is left over you get to keep. If you manage to get four out of the five questions exactly right, you automatically get the $20,000, but if you get all five questions exactly right, you will win our jackpot which starts at $100,000.
(audience applauds)
Any questions?

Ok then here we go.
(audience is blacked out)
First question. We asked one hundred congressmen in Washington D.C., "Do you believe most of what you read in the newspapers?" How many congressmen said they do believe most of what they read?
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Aug 18, 2014 9:41:35 GMT -5
I seldom if ever believe a lot myself, and these congressmen/people are supposedly even more learned than I am.
So I will say 37 out of 100 say they believe MOST of what they read, Raymond.

Let us see the correct answer.

Oh my goodness, I guess they do.
$12,600
Wow, that's a dropoff, but we still have four questions so hopefully you can bounce back, and here is your next question. We found one hundred married women who have a full time job and asked them, "Have you ever told your husband you were working late when you were really out with the girls?" How many women said they have?
