Then let's get it started!
Jim Thornton: The Ace is great, the deuce is as well, Call off those right, and your wallet will swell on...
And now, here is the host of Card Sharks, Kevin Kolsen!
Me: Thank you, Jim! Welcome everybody to Card Sharks! This is the show where you could win a fortune or a car on the flip of a single card. We have two card sharks ready to play this game. Let's not waste any more time and meet them both right now. Come on up!
*Bill and Chris run to their podiums*
Bill McDee, we welcome you back. This is your fourth day here, and you've already won $66,165 cash and prizes!
*cheers and applause*
Anything you want to say that you haven't said yet here, Bill?

Higher! I want my winnings to go higher!
No I'm pleased as punch that I've done so well, I had a sneaking suspicion about that Ace coming up right after the King at the Money Cards, hindsight being 20/20 I wish I had made a smaller wager, but I can hardly complain!

With what you've won already, it doesn't hurt to play it safe sometimes. Nels Snesrud, we're going to meet you next. What do you want us to know about you?

We bowl for dollars, too. Well, we really flip cards for dollars. Speaking of which, let's play the game! BILL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] NELS [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S]Our champion Bill plays the top deck, our challenger, Nels, the bottom one. Each of you will try to get from one side of the board to the other. Win your first round, and you win $500. Your second wins you $1,000 and right to play the Money Cards. To call your deck, you need to win control from a high-low question. First one of the game goes to Bill. We asked 100 people:
"Was the 2003 American invasion of Iraq a good idea or a bad idea?"
How many people said it was a bad idea, Bill?

Many thought so back when that first happened. As time often bears things out, I am of the mind that it was a very bad idea.
I think a majority of others believes the same thing, so I will say 71.

71 out of 100 think our invading of Iraq in 2003 was a bad idea.
[71][__][__]
*ding*
Is the actual number higher or lower, Nels?

Higher says Nels. [71][__][HI]
*ding* Actual number of people who thought America's invasion of Iraq in 2003 was a bad idea is... [71][74][HI]
*dingdingding* 74! Bill, you were very close on that, but Nels had the margin of error swing his way. It happened 21 years ago, and it wasn't just the invasion itself; it was the propaganda surrounding it. BILL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] NELS [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S]
Nels, this gives you control. BILL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S]
You have a three. Play or change it?

Higher than the three?
BILL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][2 ♦][C*S][C*S][C*S]
No. *buzzer* One of the two cards you didn't want, and you got it anyway. We toss that aside. BILL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][___][C*S][C*S][C*S]
But it means Bill gets a free call. You have...
BILL [2 ♣][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][___][C*S][C*S][C*S]
A deuce!

Hoping your luck continues here. Is this next card lower than the King?
BILL [2 ♣][K ♣][3 ♦][C*S][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][___][C*S][C*S][C*S]*ding* It is! You have a three!

I know it's going to be a deuce or another 3, even so, I'll go higher ROFL. And if a Joker turns up, I'll stick with higher.

Not saying it could happen to you, but it did happen to Nels. We want this to be higher...

You'll freeze right there.
———————————————|BILL [2 ♣][K ♣][3 ♦][9 ♥][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][___][C*S][C*S][C*S]Already on the cusp of winning the first game of our best of three. Nels, you need to get on the ball here. Maybe you can with this next high-low question. We asked 100 people age 50 and older:
"Have you kept your high school yearbook?"
How many said yes they have, Nels?

Post by nelson21 on Sept 24, 2024 13:39:36 GMT -5
I’m gonna say 63

Post by billmcdee on Sept 24, 2024 14:00:05 GMT -5
I am over 50 and I have my High School yearbooks, and I've known many even older than I who have kept them as well, so I will say higher.

63 says Nels. [__][__][63] *ding*
Bill locks in with higher. [HI][__][63] *ding*
He has his, I still have mine. The number of those 50 and up who have kept their high school yearbooks according to our poll is... [HI][55][63] *dingdingding* 55 of them; not higher, it was just a bit lower. Some do have fond memories of high school, but not enough for Bill. ———————————————|BILL [2 ♣][K ♣][3 ♦][9 ♥][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] Nels, a golden opportunity off your three.

Nels knows what he must do. Is it higher?
———————————————|BILL [2 ♣][K ♣][3 ♦][9 ♥][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][7 ♥][3 ♣][C*S][C*S] Nope. *buzzer*
Risky move that didn't pay off. You go back to your base card.
———————————————|BILL [2 ♣][K ♣][3 ♦][9 ♥][C*S] NELS [3 ♠][___][___][C*S][C*S] Bill, you get to call off your nine for the round.

I'll go with the odds and say lower (will stick with lower if a Joker turns up)

If it's lower, you win the round...
———————————————|BILL [2 ♣][K ♣][3 ♦][9 ♥][9 ♦] NELS [3 ♠][___][___][C*S][C*S] You don't. *buzzer*
If it makes you feel better, it was a darned if you don't, darned if you do for you.
———————————————|BILL [2 ♣][K ♣][3 ♦][9 ♥][___] NELS [3 ♠][___][___][C*S][C*S] We'll skip ahead to high-low question number three. Bill, we asked 100 single mothers.
"Are you still looking for 'the one'?"
How many single mothers said yes?
