KGO - SAN FRANCISCO/OAKLAND/SAN JOSE' Staff announcer: Another A's throwback -- tonight at six. (opening theme plays)Bill Kennedy: It's time to play -- Lucky Numbers. Ladies and gentlemen -- Doug Morris. (audience cheers) Thank you, Bill Kennedy and helloooooo, everybody. Welcome to Lucky Numbers. Our contestants test their luck with the numbers -- by rolling these unpredictable dice to uncover words, names, and common expressions. The sooner they can identify them correctly, the more money they will win. At the end of the game, the winning contestant rolls for lots of cash and amazing prizes in our main event. (audience cheers)Last time we were together, we said goodbye to a three-time champion who left us with well over $300,000 in cash and merchandise. Our new champion won big at the main event -- and is looking to win more. Our challenger -- is just looking to win. Playing red, our challenger, Steve Anderson. And playing blue, the champion, Kourtney Wilson, with $141,109. (audience cheers)Steve, warmest of welcomes to the dice table. Please tell us about yourself.

All right. Good luck to you both. I hope you both win a lot of money here in the main game. One of you will have a chance to win more than $400,000 in cash and merchandise in the main event. (audience cheers)Including a big progressing jackpot. Steve, you're challenging. You'll start us shortly after we load in this puzzle. (chime sfx)We've got twelve lucky numbers up there. Behind the numbers is the identity of a person, place, thing, or other common expression. While the numbers are in no particular order, the letters that are behind the numbers are always in their correct spots. The sooner you can solve, the more money you can win. Each puzzle's starting value in this first round is $1500. We take away $100 for each letter revealed. Steve, please be our guest -- and roll away. (audience cheers as...) (Steve rolls)And you're starting with a 4. Steve, in this game, you may select the 4 -- or select numbers that total 4. How do you play it?

(ding)Start with a P and an R. Now, Steve, a roll of a 3 cannot be played. We call that an unlucky roll. Anytime you make any mistake -- whether it's an unlucky roll or a wrong guess of the puzzle -- you lose control of the game. That means we reveal the highest remaining number and your opponent takes over the game. Steve, with that, you may guess for $1300, roll again, or pass to Kourtney.

Steve wants to keep rolling (audience cheers as...) (Steve rolls)Ohhh!!! (audience groans) (buzz)I would've rolled again, too, Steve. But -- sorry about the bad luck. Kourtney, you're in the game. Now, before you make any move, the highest remaining number of 12 gives us... (ding)...an A. Kourtney, the 3 is still the only unlucky roll for this puzzle. But -- lightning could strike twice. You may guess for $1200, roll the dice, or pass the dice back to Steve.

Champ's confident a 3 would crop up again. (audience cheers as...) (Kourtney rolls)And the roll's a 5. Kourtney, the only way to play the 5 is the 5. (ding)There's an O Kourtney, 5 joins the 3 among the unlucky rolls. You may guess for $1100, roll the dice, or pass the dice back to Steve.

Ah, "one more time" -- the phrase that helped build Las Vegas. (scattered laughter from crew) (audience cheers as...) (Kourtney rolls) (audience groans) (buzz)Ah! What rotten luck. Steve, you didn't mind that at all. You're back in business -- but first, we reveal the 11. (ding)And we get an L. Steve, 3 and 5 are still unlucky rolls. You may guess for $1000, roll the dice, or pass the dice back to Kourtney.

PIANO PLAYERS

(ASB win cue plays; audience applause) That's it. $800 for you, Steve. Congratulations. (chimes; audience cheers) And -- hey now -- here's a chance to win more money. Steve, that sound in the main game means this puzzle has a follow-up question. And there are three follow-up questions of increasing value throughout the game. This question is worth $500. Answer it correctly and you bank $500 more. If you miss, Kourtney has a chance to capitalize. So, Steve, for $500 more... "Love Is a Soft Touch" is a 1970 album released by Ferrante & Teicher, a well-known pair of piano players. On the album's cover is a lady who would go on to become a model on "The Price is Right". Is this model Anitra Ford, Dian Parkinson, or Janice Pennington?

Sorry -- not Janice. So, Kourtney, chance to capitalize.

No -- it's actually Dian Parkinson. (scattered groans) A year later, she was on the cover of "Cosmo", among other modeling assignments. "Price" came calling a few years later, she became a fan favorite and the rest is history. Score remains $800 to nothing. Round 1 continues -- when you come back from finding copies of "Love Is a Soft Touch" on eBay. (scattered laughter from crowd) (commercial cue plays; audience applauds)

(HR87 theme plays) Special announcement about that piano players puzzle coming up in a bit. A source for many of the puzzles and questions we use on Lucky Numbers is the 22-volume World Book Encyclopedia -- which includes the index volume and research guide. Our players always receive great welcoming gifts. Here's Bill with one of them. (scattered laughter from crew) Bill: Each of today's participants will receive a $500 LobsterGram gift card. LobsterGram is a unique way to send great gourmet gifts of succulent lobster. Shipped fresh from LobsterGram. Bill: We'll be back with more of Lucky Numbers -- after this message.

(ASB cue plays; audience applauds) Welcome back to Lucky Numbers. It's clarification time. While it is factual that Dian Parkinson can be seen on the cover of a Ferrante & Teicher album, the powers that be here at ABC and Lucky Number spotted a possible grammatical error in the question. So, to be on the safe side, we're basically destroying that question and playing a new question before we start a new puzzle. Steve, as before, you'll play this new $500 follow-up question first. If you miss, Kourtney will get a chance to capitalize. Again, this question is on piano players. What pianist has been called "The Clown Prince of Denmark"?
