Victor Borge's right. (audience cheers)Okay, now we're ready to resume the dice rolling with you Kourtney. But first, let's load in a new puzzle. (chime sfx)There it is -- and the dice are yours, Kourtney. (audience cheers as...) (Kourtney rolls)And you're starting with a roll of a 9.

(ding)Since you said "please", you get an R. All the rolls work, Kourtney. You may take a guess for $1400 or roll again.

(ding) N, L, and A join the fray -- and we open the danger zone. Rolls of 2 and 5 are unlucky. You may guess for $1000, roll again, or pass the dice.

Okay, avoid that 2 and 5. (audience cheers as...) (Kourtney rolls)(scattered woahs) Just barely -- 4. Kourtney, the 4 is the only playable number. So we'll take that number off for you. (ding) You get a C. And more unlucky rolls -- 2; 4, as you might expect; 5; 7; and 12. Kourney, guess for $900, roll again, or pass the dice?

Passing to Steve. Very well. Lot of rolls to avoid. (audience cheers as...) (Steve rolls) (scattered cheers) But a yo-leven is playable. Steve, the only way to play the 11 is taking the 8 and 3. We'll do the honors. (ding) U and an E. Steve, the only rolls that *work* are the 6 and the 10. Steve, guess for $700, roll, or pass back to Kourtney?

I’ll solve
ANNUAL RACE

(ASB win cue plays; audience applause) That's right. Kourtney, as the danger zone widened, I would've passed, too. But it worked for Steve. (chimes; audience cheers) And there's the signal for another follow-up question. Steve, this is for $750 -- and this has two possible answers. Choose the right answer and you'll bank $750. But if you choose the wrong answer, obviously, you'll leave the right answer for Kourtney -- and the champ will be on the scoreboard. So, Steve, for $750... By definition, which race has been held annually: Is it the Indianapolis 500 or the Kentucky Derby?

Kentucky Derby
|
|
|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on Aug 18, 2024 7:34:11 GMT -5
That's right. (audience cheers)Six runnings (tacky buzzer) -- excuse you? (scattered laughter from crowd) As I was saying, six runnings of the Indy 500 were canceled by both World War I and World War II. The COVID-19 pandemic and World War II postponed two runnings of the Kentucky Derby -- but the Derby has *never* been canceled -- and has been held every year since 1875 -- making it an annual race. Buzzer means Round 1's over. It's all Steve so far -- 2750 to nil. But we up the stakes in Round 2. Anything can still happen here on Lucky Numbers. (commercial cue plays; audience applauds)

(ASB cue plays; audience applauds) Welcome back to Lucky Numbers. It's been all Steve so far. Challenger leads 2750 to nil. But, Kourtney, in this round, puzzles start at $2000 each. And there's a $1000 question attached to a puzzle. The next time we hear the tacky buzzer, the game is over. Kourtney, since you trail, you get first crack at this puzzle. (chime sfx)There it is -- and please take the first roll in Round 2. (audience cheers as...) (Kourtney rolls) Starting with a niner.
