I play this game a lot whenever I have company over and we have a blast each time. I would like to test this out and see if it could work on a forum setting. If successful, expect to see it in Channel 2. Here are some basic rules:
I will present an oddity with a piece of information blanked out. Your job is to come up with a bluff that will fool other players. You get 500 points if somebody picks your lie and 1,000 points if you pick the truth. For example:
"_____ was originally offered the role of Meg Griffin on 'Family Guy'."
Among the truth are lies created by two players:
YEARDLEY SMITH CREE SUMMER TABITHA ST. GERMAIN
CREE SUMMER is the truth. Say Player 1's lie is YEARDLEY SMITH and Player 2's is TABITHA ST. GERMAIN. If Player 1 picks TABITHA ST. GERMAIN and Player 2 picks CREE SUMMER, Player 2 gets 1,500 points, 1,000 for finding the truth and 500 for Player 1 picking his/her lie.
If at least two people came up with the same bluff or someone runs out of time to answer, I get to create a lie. In this case, if you pick my lie, you lose 500 points. If you can't come up with a bluff, you can say "Lie for me" for half the points.
This works with at least two players. Who'd like to try it out?

Hello! Thank you! You're all too kind. I mean that, of course. *laughter* We have a great game filled with lies and bluffs for all of you. Cookie Masterson couldn't be here, he's hosting that other show so I guess I'll have to do. We have three players on our show today so let's meet them: [MATT][0] [JAMES][0] [GREG][0]Matt, James and Greg, welcome to the show. Tell us about yourselves and also explain why you think you're the best at lying.

I'm from Eastern Lower Alabama and I am the best at lying because I did it since elementary school!

Sounds like a real liar's club to me. Hope all three of your lying skills will pay off here.
We play Fibbage in two rounds, three questions to a round. In this first round, you win 1,000 points for finding the truth and 500 if somebody picks your bluff. We have five categories on the board...
(RATION) (MISFIRE) (WAR) (CAVE) (EXIST)
Each corresponds to a buzzword in the question. Matt, you've been randomly selected to go first. Which would you like?

Exist
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Jun 5, 2015 22:09:08 GMT -5
Okay, Exist it is. Here's what follows that word:
"Geologist Louis Agassiz has a _____ named in his honor that doesn't exist."
You have 48 hours to PM me your bluffs. If you can't think of something, PM "Lie for me" for half the points. Enter your lies now.

Okay, all lies have been entered. Here are your choices:
"Geologist Louis Agassiz has a _____ named in his honor that doesn't exist."
[LAKE] [MINERAL] [STATUE] [BRIDGE]
PM me your answers. Good luck!
(If you three want to have discuss the choices to further dissuade your opponents, by all means, do so.)

Everybody's locked in. Let's see what you guys picked.
[BRIDGE][JAMES]
James, you answered bridge...
[MATT'S LIE][JAMES]
But that was Matt's lie. 500 points for you, Matt.
[STATUE][MATT]
Statue was Matt's guess...
[JAMES' LIE][MATT]
But that was also a lie, this one by James. Well, what goes around comes around. Greg that leaves you...
[LAKE][GREG]
By process of elimination, Lake was...
[THE TRUTH][GREG]
Greg, you found the truth so here's 1,000 points! Lake Agassiz was formed by a glacier after the Ice Age ended 11,000 years ago. Its ice sheet receded, causing the lake to drain completely by 3,000 BC.
The remaining lie of Mineral belonged to Greg. Here are the scores after the first question:
[GREG][1,000] [MATT][500] [JAMES][500]
James, you've been chosen to pick second. We'll replace that last category with a new one...
(RATION) (MISFIRE) (WAR) (CAVE) (SISTERS)
How about it, James?

Sisters it is. Here goes...
"At ages five and three respectively, sisters Susan and Deborah Tripp in 1829 had a combined weight of _____ pounds."
Enter your lies now.

And here's what you guys came up with along with the truth...
"At ages five and three respectively, sisters Susan and Deborah Tripp in 1829 had a combined weight of _____ pounds."
[415] [250] [329] [500]
PM me your answers now.

Sorry about the long wait but here we go...
[250][MATT][JAMES]
Matt and James, you both seemed to agree on 250 pounds. Do great liars think alike?
[GREG'S LIE][MATT][JAMES]
I suppose not. Greg, you've capitalized on fooling your opponents with 1,000 points. Now let's see what you picked...
[329][GREG]
You said 329 pounds and that is...
[THE TRUTH][GREG]
At age five, Susan weighed 205 pounds while her sister weighed in at 124 pounds. Here's 1,000 points for finding the truth again. Strangely enough, Matt and James both locked in with the same bluff, meaning the answer of 415 was created by me. Let's recap the scores:
[GREG][3,000] [MATT][500] [JAMES][500]
Matt and James, it's time to play catch up. Maybe you can do that as Greg picks our next category.
(RATION) (MISFIRE) (WAR) (CAVE) (PARTY)
What's your pleasure, Greg?

Party.

Our leader's going to try to celebrate early. Here's your Party-themed question...
"Among the parties on the ballot for an 1968 election in Italy was 'Friends of the _____'."
Enter your lies now.

And I've got all your lies. See if you can find the truth...
"Among the parties on the ballot for an 1968 election in Italy was 'Friends of the _____'."
[REPUBLICANS] [MOON] [MAFIA] [POPE]
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Jun 9, 2015 22:10:36 GMT -5
And let's see how well you guys did, starting with...
[MAFIA][JAMES]
James who picked Mafia.
[MATT'S LIE][JAMES]
500 points for Matt because you picked his lie. This also happened to be...
[MATT'S LIE][GREG'S LIE][JAMES]
Greg's bluff so he, too, gets 500 points.
[POPE][MATT][GREG]
Matt and Greg both locked in with Pope...
[MY LIE][MATT][GREG]
Nope, that was my lie. Easy come, easy go. You both lose 500 points for that. This can only mean none of you picked the truth. Which was it?
[THE TRUTH][MOON]
The party was called "Friends of the Moon". It was one of 73 parties represented in the 1968 parliament elections with only one candidate. James' unpicked lie was Republicans. Here's where we stand at the end of the first round...
[GREG][3,000] [MATT][500] [JAMES][500]
Greg's in the lead with 3,000 points. Matt and James are neck and neck for second place. We're going to come right back, you don't want to miss it, I kid you not!

Welcome back, we're now set to begin round two. All the point values are doubled; you get 1,000 for each person you fool and 2,000 for finding the truth. Keep that in mind as we show you the categories...
(RATION) (MISFIRE) (WAR) (CAVE) (EMERALDS)
Matt, it's your turn to pick. How about it?
