Well, Doug. I am a shift leader at a national sandwich chain. I live learning languages, learning about interior design, collecting cigar boxes and stationery products.

Good wide range of interests. Perhaps they'll help you in solving puzzles and answers questions. Mark, great to have you back as you go for win number four. Alex Trebek said there's a expression, apparently from the French, that goes like this: Bit by bit, the bird builds his nest. But you've been building your nest about $100,000 at a time. Ready to add to your nest today?

All right. One of you will have a chance to build a $400,000 nest in the main event. We've got about $300,000 in cash awards plus a couple of great prizes waiting to be won. Kourtney, you're challenging. You'll start us shortly after we load in this puzzle. (chime sfx)We've got eleven lucky numbers up there *plus* an ampersand -- so keep that in mind when you attempt to solve. Behind the numbers is the identity of a person, place, thing, or other common expression. While the numbers are in no particular order, the letters that are behind the numbers are always in their correct spots. The sooner you can solve, the more money you can win. Each puzzle's starting value in this first round is $1500. We take away $100 for each letter revealed. Kourtney, please be our guest -- and roll away. (audience cheers as...) (Kourtney rolls)And you're starting with a 4. Kourtney, in this game, you may select the 4 -- or select numbers that total 4. How do you play it?

(ding)And we start, in more ways than one, with an S. Kourtney, you may take a guess for $1400 or roll again. Remember, in this game, anytime you make a mistake -- whether it's a guess on the puzzle or a roll of the dice -- you lose control of the puzzle, your opponent takes command and we automatically reveal the highest remaining number on the board. Right now, all rolls are playable -- so no sense in passing the dice.

The 5 itself.

I am going to guess: SEEK & DESTROY

|
|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on Jun 28, 2024 7:27:49 GMT -5
(ASB win cue plays; audience applause) Well solved. That's right, Kourtney. And there is a professional work that includes an ampersand in the title "Seek & Destroy" -- as opposed to the word "and" spelled out. That's why we took the ampersand route. $1100 for you Kourtney. (chimes; audience cheers) And now a follow-up question. This is the first of three in the game and it's worth $500. Kourtney, you'll play it first. Answer it correctly and you'll bank the $500. Miss it and Mark will have a chance to capitalize. So, Kourtney, for $500 more... "Seek & Destroy" is the title of a song by the rock band Metallica. Name one of the two members of the band who wrote the song.

No guess means we'll give Mark a chance to capitalize. Mark... "Seek & Destroy" is the title of a song by the rock band Metallica. For $500, name one of the two members of the band who wrote the song.

Obviously no metalheads at the dice table today. Anyone in the crowd, know? (some say "James Hetfield"; others say "Lars Ulrich"; a few give wrong answers) Who say Gino Vannelli? (scattered laughter from crowd) Anyway, one of the correct answers is James Hetfield, lead singer who also wrote a lot of the songs for the band. The other -- Lars Ulrich, drummer; also a songwriter for the band. Score remains $1100 to nothing. Mark will roll the dice -- when Lucky Numbers continues. (commercial cue plays; audience applauds)
