(ASB win cue plays; audience applause) That's it. And with that, Bill, you've vaulted into the lead 28,500 to 23,000. (tacky buzzer)That sound means they don't hate the pun -- it means we don't have time for another puzzle this round. We do have time to chat with our players, however. Bill, please tell us how things are going over at the $ale of the Century.

I am having a blast presenting $ale of the Century.
Some old school elements mixed in with a new mechanism for determining how and when instant bargains are purchased.
We've given away some very nice prizes, lots of cash, to some very nice people which is a great feeling.
Love feeling like Santa Claus even when it is not during the holiday season.

And it's a great show. $ale with Bill is in syndication -- so, as we say in the biz, please check your local listings.
Bryan, you're used to playing games at a dice table on The Mad Dash. How are things there?

Well as you know, Dee and Sidney have moved on to bigger and better things now, so I am now executive producer. We have already hired a new announcer before the end of last season but they will not be revealed until the start of season four. I can say you will be expecting an all new and exciting different Mad Dash which I know you will love!

Oh, can't wait to see that. The Mad Dash, of course, can be seen on TNT. Bill's leading by $5500. But the stake really increase in the second half of play. Puzzles starts at $20,000 each. And somewhere along the line, there's a $10,000 follow-up question attached. Find out who wins this all-star game of Lucky Numbers -- when you come back to the dice table. (commercial cue plays; audience applauds)

Bill: Closed captioning provided by... (ASB cue plays; audience applauds) We're back with more of All-Star Lucky Numbers. Bill McDee, the star of $ale of the Century, is playing for the Deborah Heart & Lung Center -- and is leading by $5500 over Bryan Law, the star of The Mad Dash. Bryan's playing for the American Cancer Society. Recall, players, in this half of play, the opening value for each puzzle is $20,000. Plus, sometime in this round, the first player to correctly solve a puzzle gets first dibs at a follow-up question for $10,000. The next time we hear this noise... (tacky buzzer)...that means the game ends. The player with the higher score wins and goes on to the main event for more than $1,000,000. (audience cheers)Bryan, you're trailing. You'll start off the next puzzle. (chime sfx)There it is -- two words. Dice are yours, Bryan. (audience cheers as...) (Bryan rolls)Starting with the roll of a 7. How do you play it? [NOTE FROM DOUG: Since we're resuming earlier than announced, this an untimed down for Bryan.]

(ding) Starting off with a G -- and all the rolls still work. But, remember, a wrong guess forfeits control to Bill. You may guess for $19,000 or roll again.

(ding) The O and the C come into play now. Music from Phantom Planet will kick in any moment now. (scattered laughter from crowd) Bryan, one unlucky roll -- a 4. Want to guess for $16,000, roll again, or pass the dice to Bill?

Not what I quite thought it was. Better roll again.

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Dec 28, 2023 15:23:49 GMT -5
(audience cheers as...) (Bryan rolls) And you get a 7 this time. Bryan, the only way to play the roll is a 5 and a 2. So we'll go ahead and do that. (ding) And we get another C and an A. Bryan, suddenly, we've got *lots* of unlucky rolls.
So let's focus on the ones that *work*. The *playable* rolls are 3, 6, 9, 10, and 12. Anything else and you lose your turn. You may guess for $14,000, roll again, or pass the dice to Bill.

Is it COIN CHANGE?

|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on Dec 28, 2023 16:46:39 GMT -5
(buzz)Sorry -- that's incorrect. So, Bill, you're in the game for the first time in this half of play. The highest remaining number of 10 is automatically revealed for you. (ding) It gives us an H. Rolls of 3, 6, 9, and 12 are the only ones that are playable. You may take a guess for $13,000, roll the dice, or pass the dice back to Bryan.

I will try to solve.
With inflation being so frequent anymore...
Is it COST CHANGE?

|
|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on Dec 28, 2023 20:15:06 GMT -5
(buzz)That's not it either. Bryan, you're back in business. The 9 will automatically give you... (ding) ...the letter L. Now the only playable rolls are 3, 6, and 9. Bryan, please let me explain something. In the event you don't take a guess, if the nominate player rolls a 9, that player will automatically bank $10,000 for charity -- because, by then, all the letters will be revealed. So, with that, Brian, you may guess now for $12,000, roll the dice, or pass the dice back to Bill.

(ASB win cue plays; audience applause) There ya got it. Bryan, with that solve, the lead changes hands. You're up to $35,000. Bill still with $28,500. And -- no chimes -- so I can clarify "Cool Change" is the title of a great hit song by The Little River Band. Let's load in a new puzzle. (chime sfx)And we've got a nine-letter word this time. Bill, you're trailing. You're rolling. (audience cheers as...) (Bill rolls) Starting with a big roll of 10.

(ding)And the first two letters, in more ways than one, are the A and the V. Bill, one unlucky roll -- a 2. You may guess for $18,000, roll again, or pass the dice to Bryan.
