Greetings, all.
With a borderline lull in my hosting schedule, this is a good time to give two audience games a test drive.
One's a revised audience game -- based upon a retired TPiR game that was based on blackjack. (Hmm -- wonder what it could be?)
The other is blackjack-based -- however it's a game where the face cards count *against* you.
I also want to further explore this revised version of Hit Me as a two-player audience game with the winner going against the house -- so, who's in?

Okay, Nels, Shederick, welcome. One of you will play for $10,000 in a head-to-head showdown against the house. First, we need to find out who will play against the house. It's the one who comes closer to 21 without going broke. On this game board (which is subject to change when we use this for real -- "should" resemble something close to what TPiR used), we've shuffled a deck of 54 playing cards, including two jokers, and then hidden them behind these nice dice faces. Players, when it's your turn, to draw a card, just say "hit me" -- and our dealer will roll a dice cube. The number our dealer rolls determines where your card comes from. When your hand totals between 12 to 21 inclusive, you may stand. Your opponent must then come up with a better hand. The player with the better hand wins the showdown and plays against the house. And here to represent the house, a nice hand for Mr. Monkey. (audience cheers)Mr. Monkey will be roll for the players and the house at all times. Now, players, you'll each receive two cards to start out. Nels, we'll start with you. Mr. Monkey -- you -- are -- on -- a roll. (scattered laughter as Mr. Monkey rolls) Starting with an 8. (ding) Should the house roll another 1 at any time in this segment, we'll just see the next card in that number 1 stack. Roll again, please, Mr. Monkey. (scattered laughter as Mr. Monkey rolls) It's a 6. And it's there we find... (scattered cheers) A lovely lady in red. (ding)You have 18, Nels. Stand or take another hit?

Nels stands on 18. BTW, the runner-up in this game gets to play our next audience game, The Faces of Danger, for a new car. I'm beginning to see flaws in having Hit Me in two-player mode. So, best to offer up some consolation for the runner-up. With that, Mr. Monkey, please roll for Shederick. (scattered laughter as Mr. Monkey rolls) It's another new number -- the 2 -- which starts off with... ...a fiver. (ding) Shederick, a draw of a 6 would be nice. Let's see if that happens. (Mr. Monkey rolls) Another new number of 3. (scattered cheers) Well looky there! (ding)That's a hard 11. Face card, joker or 10 makes you an automatic winner. (Mr. Monkey rolls) And is the winning card coming from panel number 4? (scattered groans) The ace of spades. The ace of spades. (ding)Bad time for that to happen. Roll again, please, Mr. Monkey. (Mr. Monkey rolls) Okay, our first repeat. As I noted earlier, there are nine cards assigned to each panel -- meaning there are eight cards behind the queen of hearts. The card immediately behind the queen is yours, Shederick. You have to hope, this time, it's *not* another face card, joker, or 10. Let's see it. (click) (scattered woos) Another 5, you're still alive. (ding)This should be the last roll. Shederick, if you draw an ace on the dealer's next roll, we go to a tie-breaker. A draw of a 2, 3, or 4, wins. Anything else breaks and Nels goes heads up against the house. Mr. Monkey, let's have that crucial roll, please. (Mr. Monkey rolls) 4 again. That means the card behind the ace of spades has to be another ace for a tie -- or a 2, 3, or 4 to win. (click) (dings; SCSD win theme plays; audience cheers)It's a 4 for 21!!!! (ding)Woo! Shederick. You had to hope for lucky bounces of the cube and got 'em. We're -- yes? -- GOOD! -- making an executive decision and playing Hit Me for a logical cash payoff of $21,000. Sound good, Shederick?

Very well. Nels, please stick around and root for Shederick. You'll play for a car. Shederick, through the magic of television, you're playing a new game of Hit Me with a refreshed board of 54 cards all shuffled. And you're playing against the house. Now in this version of Hit Me versus the house, the house starts off with one up card. So, Mr. Monkey, if you will. (Mr. Monkey rolls) Starting with a 4. First card behind the 4 is... ...the 4 of clubs. (ding)Good for you, Shederick. Now, the next *two* cards will belong to you automatically. Mr. Monkey, if you will. (Mr. Monkey rolls) There's a 3... ...which gives us an ace!!! (ding)If necessary, we'll call that 11 a 1 later. Mr. Monkey, before you roll again, Shederick, how are you feeling ahead of the next roll?

Okay, Nels, let's see what you're playing for -- from Tiffany Tiffany: It's a restored 1955 Ford Thunderbird! (FF-inspired car theme from TPiR plays; audience cheers) Tiffany: This fantastic car features a V8 engine, automatic transmission, rear wheel drive and more. This classic car is worth $24,000. And you'll be playing for that T-bird with this refreshed board of playing cards. Shuffled all the 54 cards, again with two jokers. But you won play Hit Me. You will play... ...The Faces of Danger! (audience woos) Now, we've spotted you $2.00. We'll sell you the T-bird for $3.10. So that means you only need another dollar and a dime. To collect money, you'll roll one dice cube. If you draw a number card, you'll win that many dimes. So a deuce pays 20 cents; a 10 pays $1.00. An ace *always* counts as an 11 -- meaning you'll pick up $1.10. A joker will award $4.00 -- which should give you more than enough for a win. But if you draw a face card, you lose $1.00. That's why the kings, queens, and jacks are considered the faces of danger. In the event your total is at $1.00 or less, we'll offer you a bailout. More about that closer to time. But right now -- you -- are on a roll.
Nels, you'll be rolling instead of Mr. Monkey. So please respond with a roll code from 1-100. You'll see the result of that roll and the next rolls "down the list" of numbers provided by randomizer.org.

(audience cheers as Nels rolls) Starting off with a 4. What's behind the 4? (click) (scattered cheers) The 7 of spades. Great start. (ding)Just need a 4 or more. (audience cheers as Nels rolls) A 3. Does it hide that 4 or more? (click) (scattered groans) No -- that's a face of danger. (buzz)Down to a buck 70 but you're not out. Roll again, please. (audience cheers as Nels rolls) It's a 1. Another new number. What's there? (click) (more groans) Cue the "Hee Haw" men's chorus. (buzz)Because it's turning into gloom, despair, and agony, Nels. You're down to 70 cents. One more face card and it's curtains for you. So, I'll tell you what. Since you're down to seven dimes, I'll turn those seven dimes into $7000 to give up the try at the car. (audience shouts suggestions)

(audience cheers)We've got a gambler, folks. Good luck, Nels. You're still -- on a roll. (audience cheers as Nels rolls) First repeat number of a 4. That means we go back to position 4 and the next card behind the 7 of spades. If there's another king or queen -- or a jack -- you owe me 30 cents and it's game over. Come onnnn let's see an ace behind that 7 of spades. (click) (audience cheers)Yes! It's an ace for $1.10. (ding)Oh, what a relief. You're out of danger with $1.80. Remember, the selling price is $3.10 for the car. So you still need $1.30 more. Let's avoid those face cards. (audience cheers as Nels rolls) A 6. New number. Let's see what's there. (click) A 7 of hearts! (more cheers) (ding)Two and a half bucks, Nels. Just need a 6 or more on the next roll. Feeling luckier now?

Oh, Immanuel, you get to play for this fantastic prize. Tiffany: It's a zombie apocalypse vehicle! (FF car theme from TPiR plays; audience cheers)This Hyundai Zombie Proof Survival Vehicle comes with a zombie plow with damage-inducing spikes -- as well as armored windows, a trunk full of weapons, spiked all terrain tires, CB radio, and much more. The zombie apocalypse vehicle and a gas card loaded with $10,000 make the total value of this prize package $92,940.Ohhh -- wow. That zombie apocalypse vehicle is a much sought-after prize on one of my other shows. And we'll play for it in this game of Red or Black. Now to give you at least one chance at that fantastic set of wheels, we'll spot you... (ding)...one choice of these numbered squares. We'll talk more about these later -- but right now -- let's increase your odds of winning. Havana, our dice girl, will be rolling our special Red or Black cube a maximum of three times. (holds up cube) All of the odd-numbered sides are red. (flips to another side) That means all of the even-numbered sides are black. Now before each roll, you'll predict the color of the roll -- red or black. Each time you're right, you'll earn one additional pick. Hopefully, you can win three more picks and have a really good shot at winning that car. First roll's coming up. Will the color be red or black?
