(scattered groans) It's *his* money, not yours. (ding)And with that, Bill pads the lead. Frank, you're just $1200. One or two good rolls could make this interesting. Thing is -- this is the last round before catch-up time. So let's see what happens here. Affirmed, Deputation or Seattle Slew. Name the horse who won 1978's triple crown of horse racing. 100 billmcdee 034 fdriscoll22 097 randomizer.org(Frank buzzes in)Frank?

Is it Affirmed?

You -- realize you don't have to respond in the form of a question on this show. (scattered laughter from the crowd) And -- Affirmed is right. (audience applause)Give 'em a roll, Frank. (Frank rolls)All right -- an 8 for $800. Now, Frank, if you banked now, you'd have to make up $400 in the catch-up round; of course, Bill gets to play catch-up if necessary. Or -- you may roll again and possibly take the lead ahead of the catch-up. How do you play it? (audience shouts suggestions)

(Frank rolls)(scattered cheers) And that's a 5 for $500 more. Bank now and you'd lead by $100 going into the catch-up round. Risk it -- and you *could* get a bigger lead. (audience shouts suggestions) What do you want to do?

(scattered cheers) Banking the money and taking the leading. (ding) (tones sound)And there's the signal for the catch-up round. With Frank leading by a razon-thin $100, I should explain how this works. Bill, since you're trailing, you'll roll the dice first. Frank, if necessary, you'll roll next. Unless you find extra or free rolls on the double decision board, one roll is all you get -- and the value of the roll is immediately added to your bank. A 7 in this round will count as a bust in this round. A double will trigger a double decision board. In fact, let's reshuffle the board. (amounts are shuffled on the double decision board; after shuffling stops, the amounts are covered immediately with the doubles)Two of those screens now hide money and an extra roll of the dice. Another doubles everything in your bank. And then we have payoffs of $100 or less. So, Bill, as long as you avoid a 7 or a dud payoff on the double decision board, you're still in business and Frank will have to catch up to you. When you're ready, please take your catch-up roll. (Bill, number from 1-100, please.)

(Bill rolls)(doubles cue; audience cheers)Woah boy -- double decision time in the catch-up round -- and this could be tricky. We owe to ourselves to look at the tote board again. Bill, you still have $3200. Frank is leading with $3300. Bill, you may play this safely -- and have us add $400 to your bank. That would mean Frank would need to bank more than $300 to win -- or roll a 3 and force a tie-breaker question. Or -- you could decline the $400 and go to the double 2 screen on the board. If it's worth $100 or more, your still in the game. If there's less than $100 in that screen, Frank wins Game 1. There are no busts -- but there's a way you could lose if you go to the double 2 screen. So -- bank the $400 and see what happens with Frank -- or go to the board and see if you can bank much more? (audience shouts suggestions)

And I think the scoreboard's fixed. So let's initialize the board for Game 2, please. (ding)Ohhhh-kay. Maybe it's not fixed. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Double dollars -- tribute to "Trigun", again? (more laughter from the crowd) Well, let's just proceed with this Round 1 toss-up question. 0, 420 or 1337. Zero is right. (audience applause) All right, first roll in Game 2's yours. (Frank rolls) And normally that's a bust. But you can't bust on the free roll. So we seed the pot with $700. Next 7 in this round is a bust. Bank the 700 bucks -- or roll and test your luck? (audience shouts suggestions)

(audience cheers) Putting two large in the bank. (ding)Frank has $2000. Bill, thanks to a glitch in our system, has zero double dollars. I'm sure that will be fixed when he banks money. Maybe it will happen on this Round 2 question. True or false: The Hundred Years' War ended in the year 1337. 42 billmcdee 11 fdriscoll22 81 randomizer.org(Bill buzzes in)Bill?

The war actually *started* in 1337. False is right. (audience applause) Your first free in Game 2 comes now, Bill. (Bill rolls)(scattered groans) Snake eyes on the free roll. As you know, no double decision on the free roll to ensure we seed money in the pot. In this case -- $200. Bank 'em or roll 'em? (audience shouts suggestions)
