Me: Again, Leslie, we turn to you. Do you have a 10 or ace for James? He really wants one, but David really wants any other card. Leslie: Sorry, James. It's a 5. (groans from audience) Me: You're not out of it though. There are two categories remaining. Perhaps, one has a 5 or 6. (light applause) David is standing by though in case you bust. Which category is next, art attack, or numbers and such?

Me: You must get a 5 or 6 to advance to the championship round. Here's the question. How many squares are on a chessboard? James: Pass (Old WOF Long buzzer, groans from audience) Me: That's too bad. The answer is 64. Okay, this is the last chance to win. If you get this wrong, or get any card other than a 5 or a 6, then David wins. The category is Art Attack. Who founded the cubism movement with George Braque? James: Pablo Picasso (applause) Me: Yes! That is correct. If that last card is a 5 or 6, you win. Any other card, and you'll be forced to take the top card. (Lots of worry from audience) Me: It's not a 5 or 6, so we go to Leslie. Leslie, you know the situation. You hold the answer to who goes to the championship round in your hands. Who is it? Leslie: It's the COMEBACK OF THE CENTURY!!!! (Sustained bell, theme starts, Cuts to the audience in shock, cheering, standing ovations for James, then cuts to surprised contestants as Leslie and I approach the contestants' podiums) Me: James! You pulled victory out of the jaws of defeat!! You just won $2100 for a perfect 21. David, I am so sorry, but you are not leaving us empty handed. We've got some nice consolation gifts for you and our thanks for being on this thrilling edition of Top Card! Leslie: Gentlemen, what do you have to say?

It went down to the wire, but James, you already have an impressive total of $3375 in cash. David, once again, thanks for being here. We hop you enjoyed your stay. When we come back, we will start the all-important Championship Round.

Ladies and Gentlemen: welcome back to an edge-of-your-seat exciting Top Card. Clément, based on that last round, you are on notice that your competition is fierce. James, Clément has been in your shoes before coming back from behind. At this time, I must caution the audience against whispering anything, as this is a pivotal game for both players. If Clément wins this round, he will win a $50,000+ trip around the world. If James wins this round, he will be our new champion. Regardless who wins, there could be well over $100,000 up for grabs in the bonus round. (Audience cheers and applauses) Let's start with the tossup. If aces count as 1 and face cards count as 10, what is the sum of the BOTTOM five cards in Leslie's deck? We have a situation that came up. James has decided to pass on the tossup and give control of the round to Clément. (Audience gasps) Will that strategy pay off? Only time will tell. Anyway, Clément said 28. If it is indeed 28, then Clément, you will win a special prize. Leslie, reveal those cards, please. Leslie: Ace is one, three makes four. Seven plus four is eleven; five and eleven make 16. Add 2 to get 18. He was 10 off. (applause) No bonus, but you do start round 3 from these categories. Clément, where do we start?

This question is not about Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, or Sophia. It's about Mary. In what year’s Summer Olympics did gymnast Mary Lou Retton win the all around gold medal? BUZZCODE: 10 James: 84 Clément: 64 (DING) Me: Clément? Clément: 1964? (Old WOF Long Buzzer, small groans) Me: No, that's not it. James, it's your question, now. James: 1984. (Applause) Me: That was when the United States hosted the Summer Olympics. Will James be closer to a gold medal with this card? Me: It's a QUEEN!!! (Cheers from audience) James, I think I know what you wish to do, but I must ask, keep it or take the top card? (Audience yells suggestions)

The queen is yours. If the next card you find is an ace, then you will be our new champion and will have over $5000 in cash heading into the bonus round. Clément, now is the time to block him. James, it's your pick of the categories.

Remembering that decade from long ago: What Scottish hero did Mel Gibson portray in the 1995 movie "Braveheart"? BUZZCODE: 36 James: 95 Clément: 8 (DING!) Me: Clément? Clément: Cromwell? Me: No, that's not right. James, it's yours if you know it. James: william Wallace (Applause) Me: That's him. All we need now is for that card to be an ace, and you will emerge victorious.... It's a three. (Audience expresses disapproval) Do you wish to keep it or take the top card? (Audience shouts ideas)

Leslie, if that top card is an ace, then James will become the new champion and will have $5475 in cash. What is that card? (Screen splits between James and Leslie) (few groans, some applause) That give you an 18. Do you wish to freeze or keep going?

Clément, you have your work cut out for you. Any number between 19-21 will win you the trip around the world. Otherwise, James will be the new champion. Go ahead and select.

Do you have the balls to answer this question? (Gives a piercing dirty look to the writers) Seriously? Okay. Which is heavier, a baseball or a softball? Clément: A baseball (Old WOF Long buzzer) Me: Oh, no. That's wrong. A softball can weight between 180 and 200 grams, but a baseball weighs only between 142 and 149 grams. (Worried murmurs from Clément's fans) Let's calm down, clear our heads and pick another category. We'll do this one step at a time.

"Bird" is the word for the next question. What bird is New Zealand's national symbol? Clément: The albatros? (More worried groans) Me: That too is incorrect. It's the kiwi. The number of categories is dwindling; go ahead and pick again. Let's get a card! (Some in the audience encourage Clément)

Open your mouth and say ahhhhh for this next question. What is another name for tetanus? (Clément draws a blank; Old WOF long buzzer sounds; audience groans louder) Me: Sorry, time was called. Lockjaw is another name for tetanus. Go ahead and... (School Bell rings in March Time) Me: That signal means we are out of time for this round, and we have a new champion! (Gasps, then applause as theme music plays) James, you will advance to the bonus round in a moment, but first, (Leslie and I approach the contestant podiums) we have to say good-bye to Clément Couvreur. These past several episodes were so exciting to watch. We thought you'd go all the way on your first show, but the Joker stopped that. We thought you'd win it all today, but James emerged victoriously. Clément will be leaving us with $28,223 in cash and prizes. Any parting words, Clément?

Leslie: Those questions were not easy at all, but I'm glad you enjoyed yourself here. We were honored to have your presence. One more round of applause for our departing champion! (Standing ovation from the Audience)
Me: James, You have over $5300 going into the bonus. (Faces camera) He's hoping to add more cash and prizes to that total. He may also get to drive home in one of these brand new Cadillacs! (NBC oooohs) Stick around for the bonus round after this commercial timeout in 2-and-2!
(Wow, did I just pull a Jim Perry AND Chuck Woolery??)

During the break...
For those who are curious, here were the remaining questions with Clément's responses.
A SPICY QUESTION: What year was Tabasco sauce first produced? 1868, 1878, or 1888?
He guessed 1888; the correct answer was 1868.
THE ANSWER ISN'T SPITBALLS: What term is used to describe the art of folding paper sculptures?
He guessed origami; that was correct.
DOUBLE MEANING: What word can be a measurement of six feet of water, and can also mean "to comprehend"?
He guessed "understand"; the correct answer was "fathom".
"F" THIS!: What "F" is the middle name of US Secretary of State John Kerry?
He passed on this one; the correct answer is Forbes.
I present you all with this, as I believe in open disclosure to preserve the integrity of this game. He only had one question correct which was insufficient to cover James' score of 18.

(Cold Open) We are back with our new champion James Greek. We have made a mistake in your winnings. You currently have $4375 in cash. $2100 for the 21 in the second round, the $1275 for the tossup, and $1000 for winning the championship round. We will play the bonus round where you can potentially win one of these cars. They are: Cadillac ATS Coupe Cadillac CTS Sedan Cadillac XTS Sedan Cadillac SRX Crossover Cadillac Escalade ESV. (whistles and cheers after each Cadillac) The Escalade, might I add, is worth more than NINETY THOUSAND DOLLARS! (Audience wows and gets excited) James, go ahead and pick an envelope from Leslie's hands, and we'll see what you'll play for today. (James picks envelope 3, Leslie puts down the other envelopes.) You will be playing for the SRX! (Applause) Dan, tell us about this car. (Buzzword Car Cue, Leslie models the car) Dan: It's the Cadillac SRX Crossover. It comes handsomely equipped with 3.6 liter v6 engine, All Wheel Drive, 6-spd Automatic transmission, Driver Assist, Premium Trim, Enhanced Theft Deterrent, and All Weather Floor Mats. Furnished by Moses Cadillac. This car is worth: (Applause) Me: The object is get as close to 21 without going over. You will have up to 4 cards to get that total by choosing from these prizes here.
You may, as always, choose the card behind the prize, or you may take the top card. Be careful; should you find the joker or exceed 21 at any time, the game is over, and you will lose everything earned in the bonus round. You may stop at any time. However, get 21 and you win the prizes you selected AND the car! Get a 10 and the ace off the board in your first two turns, and you will win ALL the prizes, the car, and this (points up)
(A digital marquee descends as Leslie models it, Aussic $OTC jackpot fanfare plays)
Dan: A cash jackpot of $28,100! (Audience woos and applause)
Me: There you are; let's win it all! It all begins with your first prize choice. Good luck, and tell me which prize you would like.

Excellent choice. Dan will tell us more about this rug. (Vamp Theme) Dan: It's a 12' x 9' Exotic, Ultra-Plush and Soft flokati rug with a long 4.25" shag pile. This is the THICKEST flokati rug made. Great for all Living areas and Bedrooms. An Absolute MUST-HAVE for your high end home or loft. Retail value $999. (Applause) Me: You can sink your feet into that. Hopefully the Joker doesn't stain it....
No, it's a QUEEN!! (Applause and cheers) We all know what you would like to do, but I have to hear you say it. Take the queen or the top card? (Audience yells "KEEP IT!!")

That queen is yours. (Applause) The flokati rug is now on account. If you find that ace, you will win everything on the board, plus the car, plus the $28,100 in cash. Would you like to find the ace or stop with the flokati rug? (Audience encourages James to continue.)
