Time now for episode 10 of Card Sharks. Sergio returns with $18,419 over the course of two shows and so he'll be trying for a three peat. Now I have a spot reserved for Andrew St. Clair for this episode, so sign ups are closed until episode 11. I need Sergio and Andrew to check in and then we'll begin.

Off we go. All deadlines are 48 hours, as usual, and here we go. (CS 78 opening theme) Jim: Aces and Kings will make it rain, but 7s and 8s will bring you pain. On..................Card Sharks! And here's the host of Card Sharks, Mark Liotta! (I come out to a tremendous applause from the audience) Me: Thank you very much, Jim Thornton. (Theme fades out) And a thank you goes out to Hunter Dillon for that opening poem. Hunter watches our show on WOWK 13 in West Virginia. We've got a champion who's won a good amount of money over the last couple of nights but no car as of yet. We'll see if that changes this evening as we bring out our players for this match. (Sergio and Andrew come out to the podiums) Sergio is our champion, of course, and Andrew St. Clair is the man opposing him. Tell the folks about yourself, Andrew.

I'm Andrew. I'm 43 years old. I live in winder, ga. I'm a musician, volunteer for local meals on wheels, and enjoy playing games. I'm here to have fun.

That's great. Hopefully you can also win a lot of money as well. Now for those who may be seeing us for the first time, Sergio and Andrew must correctly work their way across a row of playing cards by predicting whether the next card will be higher or lower than the one preceding it. First to do this successfully wins the game and two games wins the match. If you're both ready, we'll start things off in game one with a question to Sergio. For this one, we sent our man on the street to Japan and had him survey 100 Japanese baseball fans. They were asked "Did you feel emotional when Ichiro announced his retirement from baseball?". Sergio, how many of them said that they did?

Audience, what do you think? (Audience shouts suggestions) I'm gonna say 44.

Sergio says 44. (ding) Andrew, is the answer higher or lower than 44?

Hmmm. I would say lower.

Andrew thinks it's lower. (ding) The actual number of Japanese baseball fans who got emotional after hearing about Ichiro retiring is..........30 of them. (ding ding ding) It is indeed lower and Andrew gets to start off the match. He will do so with.......a four (4D). Play it or change it, Andrew?

Lower than the nine............it’s a seven (7S). Now Sergio, you’re only one card away from taking the first game of this match and you can try for a sweep right now or you can freeze.

I can't do it. I'm forced to freeze that "Seveeeeen!". Shall we, Mark?

He wants to freeze the seven, so we shall do just that. (Freeze bar goes onto Sergio's seven) The next question goes to Andrew, and for this one, we surveyed 100 people. We asked them "When you were younger, did you watch Saturday morning cartoons in your pajamas?". Andrew, how many of them said yes?

When I was younger, I did do that. It was the way to go for me back in 1980s. Hmmm. I would say that is a high number. I'll say 77.

Andrew says 77 of them watched Saturday morning cartoons in their PJs when they were younger. (ding) Sergio, is the actual number higher or lower than 77?

Post by romnserg on May 8, 2019 12:11:34 GMT -5
It did happened in the 2nd Half of the 1950's, the entire 1960's, the entire 1970's, the entire 1980's (As Andrew said), the entire 1990's and the 1st Half of the 2000's. I don't know it it pays off, but let's risk it and say higher.

Sergio says it’s higher. (ding) They had a lot of great cartoons during those eras. Classic Ninja Turtles, Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, the list goes on. You name it, they had it. The actual number of people who said they watched Saturday morning cartoons in their PJs when they were younger is........77 of them. (clangers) Andrew got it exactly right! Hold out your hand as I give you five one hundred dollar bills. (I place the bills in Andrew’s hand) Spend that money wisely, sir. Now then, you’re back at the four and you can keep it or change it.
