I promise I won't make any outbursts like I did in Daytime Jeopardy.
I'll play.

Let's go then. All deadlines are 48 hours and let's start. (1987 theme) Rich: And now, a game of high stakes. Where every decision is a gamble and every move could be your last. On.......................High Rollers! And now, here's the man with all the action, Mark Liotta! (I walk out to a tremendous applause from the audience) Me: Thank you Rich! Thank you, audience. (Theme ends) Merry Christmas everyone and welcome to High Rollers. Skill, strategy and those unpredictable dice. Those are the elements of our game and could result in a fortune for our players. One of our players managed to win a fortune yesterday, so let's get re-acquainted with him as well as meet his challenger. Rich, who are our high rollers today? Rich: Player number one is our returning champion James Greek. His one day total is $19,124 in cash and prizes! And his opponent is Michael Clifford. Me: Welcome to High Rollers, Michael. Please tell everybody at home about yourself.

Well we welcome you to High Rollers, Michael. All right, gentlemen, let's begin our match here. (I walk to my podium) The object of the game is to clear off as many digits from our nine number board as possible, but hopefully you can knock them all off. If at any time you roll a number that you can't get rid of with any combination and you don't have an insurance marker, then your opponent wins the game. The first player to win two games wins the match and goes on to the Big Numbers game for a shot at $25,000. Now then, let's load up all three columns with some goodies. Rich, what do we have today. Rich: Well Mark, I have some news that will really make our players excited. All three columns in this first round have cash! In column number one, we have $5,000 in cash. In column number two, we have $7,500 in cash. And in column three, we have $10,000 in cash! That makes the entire board in this first round worth an all cash total of $22,500! Me: That can certainly come in handy considering that Christmas is right around the corner. Let's get the numbers loaded in, shall we?
7 2 5 3 4 9 6 1 8
And the hot column for this round is column two. Therefore, you could walk away with $7,500 cash if you roll a seven and win the round. But you can't get control of the dice unless you win a toss up question, so here we go. In what year did the first official Christmas celebration occur? Was it 335, 336 or 337?

The 6!

Get rid of that 6, please.
7 2 5 3 4 9 X 1 8
And you now have an insurance marker as a result of that double you rolled. Next question. We know Santa Claus is a legendary figure, but his name is also used as the name of a town. In what state is Santa's name used as the name of a town?

No, it's in Indiana where you would find his name as the name of a town. Michael, you're in control. There's no bad number yet, so go ahead and roll

Get rid of the 7,3 and 1 from the board.
X 2 5 X 4 9 X X 8
And you've cleared column one, which means you'll get the $5,000 cash prize if you win this game. Next question coming up right now. What kind of cap is typically made from felt or wool?

No, it's an ascot cap. Michael, you have control. The only bad number is a three, so roll or pass?

Since there's only one bad roll, I'll roll the dice. Come on 6!

Take the nine off the board, please.
X 2 5 X 4 X X X 8
And here's the next question. True or false, turkeys can have more than one beard.

That is indeed true. James, look at the board if you please.
X 2 5 X 4 X X X 8
Even with those four numbers left, three is still the only bad roll. But remember that you also have an insurance marker. Therefore, would you like to roll the dice or pass them off to Michael?

There's the three. There's no way we can take it off the board with any combination, but you do have that insurance marker which I will take. (James hands me the insurance marker) You get another shot at it, James, so roll again.

He wants the eight off the board.
X 2 5 X 4 X X X X
And for rolling a double, you get back the insurance marker I had to take from you a few moments ago. All right, only three numbers are left as we go to our next question. In what century did Christmas trees begin to appear inside churches?
