As I said on the Net Game Announcement section, Card Sharks is back and we hope to have a nice long run with the series this time. With that said, I will need two players to participate in the return of this exciting two out of three competition. Sign up here if you'd like to play

That was quick. All deadlines are 48 hours and here we go. (cue 1978 Card Sharks theme) Jim: If you can come close On the population of Canoga Park You could win At a game of cards with Mark Onnnnnn Card Sharks! And here's the host of Card Sharks, Mark Liotta! (Card Sharks logo rises as I enter the stage to a tremendous applause. Logo descends) Me: Thank you, Jim Thornton. And thank you, audience. (Theme fades out) Your favorite game of card turning is back, and all of us here are very pleased about it. That opening poem, by the way, was submitted to us by Marie Matlock of New Orleans, Louisiana. Marie is watching us on WDSU TV 6. Now if you liked the previous incarnations that we had, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this one. Let's bring out our card dealing machine right now. (Machine wheels onto the stage) Yes folks, as you can see, we now have the technology to reveal our players' cards automatically rather than have a pair of dealers do it. The game itself, of course, is still the same. Let's bring out our first two players here on Card Sharks. (Anthony and Bryan run onto the stage) All right, we have Anthony with us in the red spot and Bryan in the blue spot. Let's start off by meeting Anthony over here in the first position. Tell the folks at home about yourself, Anthony.

Well, I'm originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina for almost 16 years. I currently live in Chesnee, South Carolina. I enjoy collecting trading cards, doing stats, watch game shows, and make predictions. I just recently lost my dad 8 months ago. My birthday is in 8 days from now.

I bet you'd love to win some cash and prizes as a birthday present, and hopefully we can do that for you. Best of luck to you, Anthony, and now we'll meet you opponent which is Bryan Law. Bryan, welcome to Card Sharks. Tell the folks about yourself.

Excellent. We wish you the best of luck, Bryan. Now players, as you know, you must correctly predict whether the card in your row is higher or lower than the one before it. Along with our standard playing cards, both of your decks contain prize cards. If you uncover one, we'll put it on your prize board; however, you must win the round in order to win that particular prize. If you win the round, you get $500 and winning two out of three earns you the right to play the Money Cards for $32,000 as well as a brand new car. Normally we would present the first question to the champion, but we don't have one today as this is our first show. So what we did before we went on air was we did a coin toss and Anthony won that toss so he's playing the red cards and Bryan's playing the blue cards. Anthony, as you're in the red position, the first question goes to you and here it is. We surveyed 100 single women and we asked them: Are you in love with your boyfriend? How many of them said that they're in love with their boyfriend?

Hmm. I say lot are in love right now. That's a pretty high number I am going to say 79 are in love.

79 of them are in love according to Anthony. (ding) Bryan, is the answer higher or lower than 79?

In love in what way? Money or lust?
(laughter)
I'll go with the odds and say lower.

Bryan says that it's lower. (ding) Now both of you keep in mind that you'll get an extra $500 if you get an answer exactly right. Now then, the actual number of these single women who said that they're in love with their boyfriend is: 71 of them. (ding ding ding) You're right, Bryan, it was lower and you get to play the cards first. Your first card is.........a five (5D). You can play the five or you can change it.

Freeze!

He's going to freeze on the eight. (Freeze bar goes on the eight) You're now protected and you also keep Anthony away from his cards for the moment. And we continue the match with a question to Bryan. We surveyed 100 eight year old girls and we asked them: If your mom wanted you to wear a fifties style dress to school, would you do it? How many of them said that they would?

I’m sure any 8 year old would love to start experiencing fashion including 50’s style clothes at their age, so I will say 65.

65 of the eight year old girls we asked would wear a fifties style dress according to Bryan. (ding) Anthony, is the answer higher or lower than 65?

Anthony says it's higher. (ding) The actual number of eight year old girls who said that they would wear a fifties style dress to school if their mom wanted them to is: 56 of them. (ding ding ding) It's not higher, it's lower and so Bryan retains control of the cards. Now you still have that eight and you can play it or change it.

He's going to change that eight, and it is now..................a Jack (JH). You must play this one, Bryan.

Lower than a Jack.............no, a King! (KS; buzzer) And control goes over to Anthony with..............a three (3S). You have to play this, Anthony, as you didn't win the question.
