Thanks.

televisiontunes.com/Headline_Chasers.htmlSCOTT SHANNON: From the Art James Studio at MetroMedia Studios, New York... It's the return of the first television card game that everyone can play... AUDIENCE: "PAY CARDS!" (applause) SCOTT SHANNON: And here he is now to make sure everybody gets a fair deal... Bill McDee! (applause) That's me! Hello and welcome once again to another edition of "Pay Cards!" On our last program we crowned a new champion who not only came from behind to defeat the previous champion, but he later went on to take the house for the top prize of $50,000!!! He did so in an unusual way, but nevertheless he's earned every dollar of it...returning with one win and an astounding $56,200 in cash, welcome back Jonathan Laster! (applause) And his new challenger, please give a warm Pay Cards welcome to Kourtney Wilson!!! (applause) Jonathan welcome back! On our last program you were relatively nondescript with respect to who you are, what you do, where you're from and so on. Dare I say you wish to remain this way? Seems logical that you might want to since you're perhaps wanting to keep a "poker face" on...

(As there's been no response from Jonathan as yet during the interview process, I will wait until this afternoon. If he still hasn't responded, I will request somebody to pinch-hit for Jonathan temporarily until he returns).

Cold in my home state too. Seems the groundhog was right about six more weeks of winter!
Hopefully you will win some more cold cash here from us today Jonathan! Good luck as you go for your second win.
And let's say hello to Kourtney Wilson. Kourtney, welcome to Pay Cards! What should we know about you?

Well, I am a cashier at a national sandwich chain. I love learning languages, interior design and a pen collector. I also am a net gamer as well.

And perhaps today you can add cash collector to your list as well Kourtney! Good luck in the game. Object of the game is to build a better poker hand than your opponent. We play three rounds total. During Rounds 1 and 2, which are the Strategy Rounds, the payoffs are as follows: $100 for each pair, $250 for three of a kind, $500 for a full house which is 3 of a kind plus a pair, four of a kind pays $1,000 and the player with the high hand will win a minimum bonus of $250, but could be as much as $500 more. We don't deal in straights or flushes in our game. Here's the board of 16 cards... (bling) Up on the board there are two possible ways to achieve 4 of a kind, there's one 3 of a kind, two sets of pairs and one single card just to try to thwart you. We will now reveal three of the cards to begin this round... Number 2 is the 4 of Spades, number 4 is the 2 of Diamonds, and under 15 is the King of Clubs. Remember too players, if any Aces turn up, they are ranked as the highest card. Jonathan, at this time I will have you turn over 2 more cards. Then a total of 5 will be face up. You will then select any two of the 5 upturned cards to begin building your poker hand. Then Kourtney will go next. In Round 2, Kourtney will go first to make things even-Steven. Jonathan, trying to go for your second victory, good luck and select two more numbers please.

Trying to pair up something here, Number one is... The 6 of Hearts, and under number 10? (groans in the audience) Hmm the 7 of Diamonds. Well Jonathan, no pairs up there, but you are required to take two of those cards. Which two?

Interesting strategy there, using some intuition perhaps. Let's see how it plays out. Kourtney, the board is yours now, please turn over 2 more cards for us.

Number 9 is... The six of Diamonds. And card 11 this time is... The 2 of Hearts. Look them over Kourtney and tell me which two cards you'd like to select to begin building your hand.

(applause) Sound strategy for two reasons, not only do you have a higher pair right now with those sixes, but by taking that deuce away, you've prevented Kourtney from possibly getting 3 of a kind or even 4 of a kind perhaps. Kourtney, we're back to you, two more numbers please.

Number 7 is... The King of Spades and number 13 has... The 2 of Spades. Interesting choice to be had here. Which two cards do you select this time Kourtney?

Kourtney you now have at least three of a kind, four of a kind is not possible since Jonathan has that 4th deuce. Jonathan, if there is another six up on that board and you uncover it, you will achieve 3 of a Kind for this hand. You get to uncover just one more card this time. Will it be 5, 6, 8, 12 or 14 Jonathan?
