Let's see what the next card is Lynn. Hoping for a 9 here, but not more than a 9... OH NO!!! (buzzer, followed by audience groans) For the record, Lynn, what was your hole card? An 8 for 19, so either way Michael, it wasn't in the cards for you tonight to beat the dealer. That means on our next program, the Beat the Dealer game will be worth... (CLANG) Three-Thousand Dollars! (applause) And we'll be back with more of Gambit P.M., right after these messages, please stay tuned picosong.com/cThu/

www.fileswap.com/dl/7vgdIMa622/05_-_Contestant_Intro_2.mp3.htmlFRANK CALIENDO (As Kenny Williams) : Some of tonight's parting gifts come from the famous Spiegel catalog company, Over 50,000 quality items providing value, selection and savings, Spiegel Chicago 60609... And now once again, here's Bill... Thank you Frank. We're going to determine tonight's winner in a few moments. First a reminder, the Any 21 Jackpot was not hit during our last game, so we add $250 to it, and for any 21, in addition to $1,050 you'll also receive... (CLANG) $1,250, and for any 2 card 21 we double it... (CLANG) To $2,500! (applause) Cle'ment you are currently trailing 1 game to 0 in this best 2 out of 3 game match, so this one is important for you to win. Lynn, let's show our players and audience the first card at stake in this pivotal game 2 please... For a six contestants... There has been a lot of buzz lately in the news about the possibility of Hillary Rodham Clinton running for the United States Presidency in 2016. If she wins she and her husband, former president Bill Clinton will share the same last name. True or False? To date there have been three pairs of American Presidents who shared the same last name... Cle'ment?

I believe that's true. I couldn't tell you more than one, though.

Actually it is false, there have been 5 sets of Presidents who shared the same last name. John Adams and his son John Quincy Adams William Henry Harrison and his grandson Benjamin Harrison Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Baines Johnson, unrelated as far as I know. Theodore and Franklin D. Roosevelt who were I believe distant cousins. And most recently George Herbert Walker Bush and his son George W. Bush. So a total thus far of 5 sets of former U.S. Presidents who had the same last name. Therefore Michael, you score $100 and control the 6. Do you want it for yourself, or pass it to Cle'ment?

You went to visit your eye doctor and she informs you that you have myopia. Does this mean you are near-sighted, far-sighted or have perfect vision? Cle'ment?

Oddly enough, I have myopia, that means I can't see clearly what's far. So I guess I'm near-sighted.
If right, I'll take the card.

As am I! Correct for $100 Cle'ment... (applause) My eyesight is so bad in fact, I even have to SLEEP with my glasses on...that way I can actually see what happens in my dreams. Incidentally, some of the questions used on Gambit are provided by research material from the World Book Encyclopedia. Cle'ment wants to keep the card Lynn, let's see what we'll add to his 6... (moans from the audience) Another 6. Would be great if this were "Super Pay Cards", but here on "Gambit PM" a pair of sixes can spell trouble as you very well know. You now have 12 Cle'ment. If you elect to play on, you may not freeze again until you receive another card and if that card puts you or keeps you in the lead. If you continue and the next card is a 10, Jack, Queen or King, you will go over and Michael will retain the championship crown. If you freeze, Michael will have to get a minimum of 2 questions correct in order to try to beat your 12. So Cle'ment, do you elect to freeze on 12, or continue playing? (audience shouting suggestions)

Going to try to force Cle'ment over 21. We'll see if that works... If the next card Lynn deals up is a 10, Jack, Queen or King, Michael will remain Gambit P.M. champion and go to the Gambit Board for a load of cash and valuable prizes... Does he? (the audience chuckles and a mixture of "awww"s) Well! Three of a kind, three sixes in Gambit is a pretty nice hand Cle'ment. With a score of 18 are you wanting to freeze or continue?

Freezing on that 3 of a kind... Michael, in order to win game number 2 and the match, you will need to score 19 or better, without exceeding 21. You must answer every question correctly in order to continue to earn cards. One incorrect answer or if you take too long to answer (48 hours), and Cle'ment will tie up this match. For $100 and the next card Michael... Georgia is known as "The Peach State". But this question is about a different state... True or False? Hawaii is known as "The Pineapple State".

(buzzer) No I'm sorry, it's the Aloha State, and Cle'ment ties up the match! picosong.com/3zeF/And with a score of 18 times $50, that's a $900 win for Cle'ment tying up the match at a game a piece. And while Hawaii is indeed world renowned for their delicious pineapples, their official state nickname is "The Aloha State". So with that, no 21 was scored, so now the jackpots will grow... Another $250 added to the Any 21 Jackpot, making it worth... (CLANG) $1,500 and the BlackJack Bonus worth double, or $3,000. Now on Gambit P.M., when we have a rubber game of the match, each player begins with 10 automatically... And as always, we also show you the first card at the start of this pivotal game. Lynn, what is it please? Another six perhaps? For a four... The Atlantic or the Pacific...which ocean was the first to be crossed both by boat and by plane? Cle'ment? ((as an aside, the buzzcode for this question was 39, Cle'ment guessed 40 and Michael had 42. Talk about your split second {plug for John Bergman's show} timing!!!))

That would be the Atlantic. I'd like to pass that card to Michael.

Michael that gives you 14 and the lead for the moment. You can freeze if you wish or continue. If you continue, you will not be allowed to freeze until you receive another card.
Do you wish to freeze or continue?

(Bill, I don't mean to be an @$$, but on the state nicknames question, you should have specified if it was the official state nickname or not. Technically, "The Pineapple State" is an unofficial nickname for Hawaii.)
I'll risk it & continue on.

(Believe it or not Michael yesterday afternoon while I was at work it occurred to me that the question in and of itself was somewhat ambiguous, and I will be addressing that during the re-cap portion of the episode, and no I don't consider you being an @$$ at all, and in fact this is something I'd like to address for future contestants as well ) He's going to play on, I don't blame you Michael, as 14 is not a particularly strong hand, especially when your opponent already has ten. Next question... "The face that launched a thousand ships...", Does that refer to Cleopatra, Helen of Troy or Joan of Arc? Michael?

Is right for $100! (applause) And Michael, fearing this next card could put him over, elects to pass to Cle'ment. Let's see if that was a wise decision on his part, Lynn? A Queen! Indeed that was the right choice Michael. Just to re-iterate the rules of Gambit P.M, whenever a player receives a card, either by keeping it themselves or having it passed to them from their opponent, if that card places them in the lead, they will have the option to freeze or continue. Cle'ment, I'm required to ask, do you wish to freeze on 20 or continue?

I'd be a fool not to freeze. Of course, I'm stopping here.

(a few chuckles from the audience with the "fool" reference) Cle'ment has frozen at 20. Michael the good news is if your next card is a 7, you'll win the game, and a $1,500 cash bonus too! First things first, a correct answer is required to earn the next card... True or False Michael...when facing Mount Rushmore, the likeness of Theodore Roosevelt is the one all the way on the right?

False is right! It's Abe Lincoln! (applause) Another $100 for you Michael. You need a 7 to win the game, the match, and a return trip to the Gambit Board. Lynn, what is his next card please? (buzzer) Too much! And we have a new champion here on GAMBIT P.M.! picosong.com/3zeF/Another $1,000 for winning with a 20 Cle'ment, and in a few short moments from now, you'll make your first trip to our Gambit Board for a chance at a whole lot more. For now, $2,625 in cash. Michael, the bad news is no money is awarded to a player when they bust, but the good news is you did pick up another $1,750 today. But I have even greater news... Earlier we had a question about state nicknames. The way the question was phrased, it did not specify that we were referring to the OFFICIAL state nickname. Since there was some ambiguity associated with that question, we're going to do 2 things for you. First of all, we'll ask you to remain seated there during Cle'ment's trip to the Gambit board. And in fairness, anything he should happen to win when playing it, we will duplicate and award you the same prizes, should Cle'ment win. (applause) And secondly, and more importantly, we'd like to extend an invitation for you to come back on our next program to compete. So we'll take a quick time out, get the old Gambit Board loaded up with some big cash prizes and merchandise prizes as well, and when we return, Cle'ment AND Michael will head to the Gambit Board. Stay tuned, won't you please?
