I grew up with our domestic version of TPIR, Le juste prix. I loved all those French game shows of the 90s, most of them were imports, but all of them had a cheap and cheerful French touch I loved. In the 2000s, most of them have become too French. There's one French-original I loved, though: Mokshu Patamu, which was a giant 3D Snakes & Ladders game.

Snakes and ladders? Sounds like my honeymoon.
(audience chuckles).
Cle'ment I welcome you to Gambit P.M. and wish you good luck.
Here's our champion who has already had some good luck. He didn't claim any cash prizes from the Gambit Board last evening but he still won a lot all in cash, $11,250, welcome him back, Michael Clifford!
(applause)
And Michael, we found out that Lynn is recently married, so we know that the dealer can hit you, but you may not hit on her.
All set to take on Cle'ment as we have an international competition here on Gambit P.M.?
Cle'ment at this time, Lynn is going to present to you a brand new, freshly and thoroughly shuffled deck of 52 standard playing cards. Please indicate how deeply into the deck you want them cut. Select a number higher than 0 but lower than 52 Cle'ment and then we can proceed.

For a Deuce of Diamonds players... You're playing ice hockey for the Montreal Canadiens and your team mate just scored his third goal of the game. What is the term used when 3 goals are scored in one hockey game? www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/cae-buzzin.wavCle'ment for $100 and control of the 2, what is your answer please?

If it's the same thing in soccer, that would be a hat trick.

Correct for $100! (applause) The fate of that 2 is in your hands now Cle'ment. Do you wish to keep it for yourself, or pass it to Michael?

I did the same thing when I played this game, and ended up with a 21 The first player to win the best 2 games out of 3 match will go on to play the Gambit Board where there's over $100,000 in cash and prizes waiting to be won! The winner of each game receives $50 per point, with a house minimum of $500 for a victory. The loser is paid $25 per point assuming they do not go over 21. If you go over, you get nothing, and like it. (audience chuckles)... Well, the producers perhaps might like it. I jest! If you score 21 exactly, not only do you win $1,050 for the game, but also the Any 21 Jackpot bonus which right now is worth... (clang) One thousand smackers. And if you get 21 in just 2 cards, that's the Blackjack bonus which is worth... (CLANG) $2,000. It is always double the Any 21 Jackpot amount. Each game a 21 is not made, we increase the Any 21 jackpot by $250 and thus, the Blackjack Bonus jackpot would increase by $500. The winner of this first game will play a mini-bonus game for more cash. More about that later... Meantime, on to another question to determine control of the next card. Remember players, we only show you the first card at the start of each game. Which came first in the United States, Disneyland or DisneyWorld? Michael?

I'm passing the card to Clement.

That correct answer is worth $100 for you Michael. (applause) And he wishes to pass this next card to Cle'ment. Lynn, what is it please? A 3. Wow, very small cards tonight. At this rate we'll be here until sunrise Cle'ment now has 5, and I have another question... Woodrow Wilson, Herbert Hoover, or Franklin D. Roosevelt...which man was President of the United States at the start of The Great Depression? Cle'ment?

I believe it was Hoover.
If right, I'm keeping the card.

Herbert Hoover it was! (applause) Another $100 for the correct answer, and you want to keep the card, Lynn, what is it? (gasps in the audience) Hey, that's a nice one, a 5 to go with your 5, a total now of 10... According to the old song lyrics, "Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat..." what? Cle'ment?

Little lambs eat "ivy"...ivy. Sorry about that Cle'ment. Michael, you score $100 (applause) Michael, do you wish to take this next card or pass it to Cle'ment. Just a reminder, a rule on Gambit P.M., once a player receives a card either by keeping it themselves or receiving one by having it passed to them, and their score is 12 or higher, if they are in the lead, they will have the option to freeze at that point. Also if the next card is an Ace and you pass, Cle'ment would win game #1. So do you want to keep this next card Michael, or pass it to Cle'ment?

A most interesting strategy indeed. Perhaps your hunch is telling you it's a not so great card Michael. Let's find out. Lynn, if it's an Ace, Cle'ment wins game #1, what is it? It's a 7... Cle'ment, you now have 17. You can freeze if you wish or continue. If you elect to continue, you will not be permitted to freeze until/unless you receive another card. If you elect to freeze, that would require Michael to get 18 or more, without going over 21 to beat you, and of course Michael would have to answer every question correctly to earn more cards. Freeze or continue Cle'ment?

I'm freezing.

I don't blame you Cle'ment. If that 17 holds up, you will win another $850 for this game, as we pay $50 per point to the winner. Michael, you'll need 18 or better, without going over 21 to win this first game, as there are no ties on Gambit. First question to get the first card for your hand... In 1995, almost 20 years ago now, blue M&Ms were introduced. What color M&Ms were "retired" as a result of this change, Michael?

Correct! (applause) And you know, I never did warm up to blue, I still to this day miss the tan ones. $100 for you Michael and this card... An 8. (applause) We haven't seen hide nor hair of any tens or face cards yet, and that's all you'll need to win game #1 of this match. Next question... You're dining at a restaurant in Germany and your waiter recommends the Hasenpfeffer. Is he recommending rabbit, duck or turkey?

Correct for $100! (applause) Lynn, Michael is requesting a 10 or a face card. Can you oblige? Lynn: Michael, I'm sorry I don't have a 10 or a face card for you... Lynn - It's an ACE!!! picosong.com/3zeF/Bill - And congratulations to you Michael for winning game #1 of this match. That game is worth another $950 to you as we pay $50 per point, so you have the lead in the match and $1,350 so far today. Cle'ment, you didn't win this game, however we do pay $25 per point to the runner-up if they have not gone over 21, which you didn't, so another $425 for you, giving you $625 so far this evening. When we return, Michael will be playing one hand against the house, for a chance at a bonus of $2,500! Back with "Beat the Dealer", right after this! picosong.com/cThu/

www.fileswap.com/dl/7vgdIMa622/05_-_Contestant_Intro_2.mp3.html(FRANK CALIENDO as KENNY WILLIAMS): If you plan on visiting the Los Angeles area and would like tickets to attend a taping of GAMBIT PM, send your request along with a self addressed stamped envelope to... TICKETS "GAMBIT PM" CBS TELEVISION CITY 7800 BEVERLY BOULEVARD LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA NINE ZERO ZERO THREE SIX Or you can visit us online at www.cbs.com/gambitAnd now, back to more of Gambit P.M. and Bill McDee! (applause) I thank you Frank Caliendo. Here on Gambit P.M. the winner of the first game of the match gets to play a mini-bonus game called "Beat the Dealer". Michael, you won game #1 and now you'll be playing a single standard BlackJack hand against the lovely Lynn Jennings. We are using the same deck of cards, this is not a new deck. The dealer has to take another card if her hand is 16 or less, and must stop once her hand reaches 17 or more. Michael, you may elect to freeze any time after a score of 12 or higher. If you tie the dealer, you'll win $1,000. But if you BEAT the dealer, you will win the Beat the Dealer jackpot. You did so on our last show, so once again tonight it is worth: (CLANG) Two-Thousand, Five-Hundred dollars! (applause) Michael, Lynn will deal you a card face up right now... A deuce. Now she'll deal herself a "hole" card... Now your next card Michael... (audience moans) A queen, giving you a 12....Lynn, what's your up card? (louder groans from the audience)... Michael, if her hole card is a 10, Jack, Queen or King, the game will end right here unfortunately. Lynn, is your hole card a 10, Jack, Queen or King? (Lynn shakes her head "No")... You're still in the game Michael! You have a 12, do you want to take another card and risk going over, or do you want to freeze on that 12 and hope Lynn goes over?
