We're about to start the eighth episode of Hot Dice for the year. Evan Hatfield is looking to build on a winning streak of four matches and a record high total of $132,800.
Want to challenge him? We're going to play a qualifying question to determine who'll play against Evan. The player closest to the right answer, high or low, will be the challenger.
And here's the question.
On August 18, 2012, at 8:00pm Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "Family Feud". In Fast Money, two members of the winning family didn't reach the goal of 200 points. The family received how much money as a consolation prize? Please respond in increments of $5.
Please PM me your answer. I'll reveal the right answer in 24 hours from now.

And that's time. This particular episode was from the Richard Karn era and ... (ding)... yeah -- close but not close enough. Family piled up 197 points for $985. Who's the closest? $750 Jill Manas FanMichael Clifford's gonna challenge the champion. Lights, camera, action. Let's go!
(opening theme plays as camera slowly zooms in on a one-shot of our current champion) This is our current champion Evan Hatfield. To date, he has won four matches and a record total of $132,800. How much more will he win tonight? Find out now -- on Hot Dice.(audience cheers)Hellooooo, everybody, I'm Doug Morris and these are the dice that can make a millionaire out of one of these players. You've already met the champion. Let's welcome Evan's challenger, Michael Clifford. (audience cheers)Michael, we'll talk to your shortly. But, I want to go back to Evan for just a moment because on the last show, he won $55,500 in the Bonus Bonanza -- bringing his total winnings up to the record of $132,800. He's now number one on the all-time money list for Hot Dice. Evan, back in the old days of Hot Dice, when a champion did this well or was on the show for this long, we would've let him or her send shout-outs to friends and loved ones by now. I think now's a good time to rekindle that tradition. So, who would you like to send shout-outs to?

I'm from Marlton, New Jersey & I'm currently unemployed. More specifically, South Jersey is rooting for me. Anyway, the bad thing about the new versions of Doug's games is that there's no DJ Hamilton or Scarlett Grey, but the good thing is we don't have to see Dirty Harry's ugly mug. (audience laughter)

Ah, I knew you'd remember Harry, Deej and Scarlett -- for better or worse. (ding)Game 1 of a new match starting now. This first game consists of six rounds and a catch-up round. Each of the first six rounds starts with a toss-up question. Winner of the question earns a free roll of the dice. From there, you'll have a chance to build a pot of money. England, Australia or the U.S.A. The 2012 Olympics were held in which nation? 42 Twentington 71 Jill Manas Fan 23 randomizer.org (Evan buzzes in) Evan?

That's right. (audience applause) London was the host city -- and it's in England. Evan, free roll for you. (Evan rolls) And that's a 7. Normally, that wipes you out and we start a new round. But you can't bust on the free roll -- so we start with $700.
Evan, as you know, as long as the dice stay hot, we keep adding to the pot. As long as you avoid rolling another 7 in this round, we add the roll's value in hundreds of dollars to the pot.
Now the odds of rolling that bad 7 are just as good as rolling a double. And that's where the double decision board comes in. Evan, if you throw a double, you'll have the choice of having $100 per point added to the pot -- or going to the corresponding screen on the board.
Those doubles screens hide thousands of dollars in cash, great surprises and not-so-great surprises. There's even the word "BUST!" up there -- which acts as if you rolled a 7 -- and results in the end of the round with no score.
But here's your decision now -- bank the $700, keep that money safe in your coffers and start a new round -- or risk the $700 and roll again?
(audience shouts suggestions)

The ol' "one more" bit. (eVAN rolls)(scattered cheers) And another safe roll. An 8 brings the pot up to $2400. Was that really one more? (audience shouts suggestions)

(scattered cheers) Gonna back the money. Very well. (ding)Players, anytime you bank money, it's yours to keep regardless of how you finish in the game or the match. After Round 6 of this game, we have the catch-up round. Leading player when the catch-up round ends wins the game. Win two games -- and you play the Bonus Bonanza for the million. Michael, you're back in. Both of you -- hands on the buzzers, please, because here comes your next toss-up question. Near Samoa, in the Caribbean or in the Pacific. Where would you find the Mariana Islands? 46 Twentington 05 Jill Manas Fan 06 randomizer.org(Michael buzzes in)Michael.

Oui. (audience applause) Chance to make a comeback, Michael. Free roll first. (Michael rolls) And normally that's a bust. But you're immune from busting on the free roll. So we start with $700 in the pot. The next 7 in this round will wipe you out. So -- bank the 700 or roll again? (audience shouts suggestions)

Patrick Ewing is a former NBA player -- and not to be confused with Patrick Duffy, who plays an elder member of the Ewing family of the current "Dallas". You're right, Michael. (audience applause) Dice are yours again. (Michael rolls) And -- another 7 immune from busting. Next 7 in this round is a bust. Bank the 700 or roll again, Michael?
