Going to A. Get this and you'll be one away from the side to side connection. "What 'A' can travel down mountains at speeds of up to 200 miles an hour?" BUZZ: 93 1st: Sam (66) 2nd: Ray (22) And it's Sam.

Avalanche is the answer! *applause* *dong* You have to work your way around Ray's blocks now. What letter would you like?

Get this and you have an anchor at the botom. "What 'D' was thrown a distance of 243 feet in 1986?" BUZZ: 77 1st: Ray (64) 2nd: Sam (46) Ray?

That is correct! *applause* *ding* One away from a first round victory, Ray. Pick your next letter.

For Round 1, here is your V-question. Sam, you need this to block. "What 'V' is the setting for Ray Bradbury's 'All Summer in a Day'?" BUZZ: 95 1st: Ray (91) 2nd: Sam (39) For the round, Ray...

Venus is correct and you've won Round 1! *Blockbusters win cue* *ding* Had to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat a few times and you pulled through. You pick up $1,000 for that. Win the next round, Ray, and you'll play the Gold Rush for $10,000. We'll get to Round 2 after this!

Welcome back to Blockbusters! Ray has won Round 1 and $1,000. Sam, this means you need to win this round to force the tiebreaker. Here's our playing field for Round 2. We've switched up the letters. There will not be a same board twice. As happened last time, the board will randomly select the first letter. T-question to start. Hands on your buzzers. "What 'T' can be found on the tails side of the U.S. dime?" BUZZ: 29 1st: Sam (56) 2nd: Ray (71) How about it, Sam?

You are right and we put a red block on the board. *applause* *dong* Sam, you have control of the board now.

Get this and you'll have an anchor at the bottom. "What 'L' disappeared from the Garfield comic strip in 1983?" BUZZ: 46 1st: Ray (51) 2nd: Sam (67) Raymond?

Logical guess but incorrect. I'll read it again for Sam:
"What 'L' disappeared from the Garfield comic strip in 1983?"

Lyman was what we're looking for! You have another block! *applause* *dong* I kind of saw where Ray was going with his lasagna. While Garfield does in fact make lasagna disappear, we were looking for an actual character in the strip. Jim Davis hasn't been helpful, although his theory of "Don't look in Jon's basement" may be enough of a hint. Sam, you maintain control. What's our next letter?

Going with H. This is for a hold on the upper part. Answer starts with H: "What 'H' do high school and college football games celebrate in early fall?" BUZZ: 35 1st: Ray (38) 2nd: Sam (98) Ray?

Homecoming is the answer for your first block! *applause* *ding* You're the one who picks up that anchor instead. Where will we go now?

Going right next door. That's your only option for continuing your path. A-question coming up: "What 'A' is the common name referring to a collection of stories?" BUZZ: 44 1st: Ray (28) 2nd: Sam (78) Ray again.

That's okay. Sam, this means you can pick up the block instead:
"What 'A' is the common name referring to a collection of stories?"

Now when you mention Books, I've been thinking and the first thing that pops into my head is Anthology.
