Jim: Money and cars will be in your sight But only if you play your cards right on... With your host, Kevin Kolsen! Thank you, Jim! Welcome, everybody, to another exciting episode of Card Sharks. Our champion has been cleaning house, in fact he cleaned our garage on our last show winning a Chevy Impala. We've got another new car to give away and lots of cash of course but we can't have that unless we say hi to our Card Sharks! Here they come now... *Matt and mjyr1 run to their podiums* Matt, this is your fifth time here. You've already won four games and $88,610 cash and prizes! *cheers and applause* How'd it feel to finally win that car?

Felt pretty good to get it out of the way, I know. Let's say hi to your opponent. CCSCO, tell us about yourself, please.

Thank you, Clement. Hope you'll be an even bigger fan of this show now that you made it here. We'll now get things started as our models, Charlene and Jewel, deal your cards...
MATT [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS] CLEMENT [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
This game will be played best two out of three. You must make calls across the board and to gain access of the cards, you must win control of these high-low questions. This first one, as always, is for our champ. Matt, we surveyed 100 people:
"Do you believe in ghosts?"
How many people said yes, they do?

34 out of 100 believe in ghosts.
[34][__][__]
*ding*
Clement, do you think the actual number of people who said that is higher or lower than 34?

|
|
Post by CCSCO on Aug 5, 2014 18:12:28 GMT -5
For the sake of humanity, I hope it's less.

You're firm in thinking that it's lower...
[34][__][LO]
How about we find out together? The actual number of people who do believe in ghosts is...
[34][37][LO]
37! Just a bit in the other direction, Clement.
MATT [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
Matt, you have the first crack at the cards with...
MATT [5♣][CS][CS][CS][CS]
A five.

Freeze

Post by koopakid17 on Aug 5, 2014 19:15:51 GMT -5
You got it. Going to freeze with two cards away from winning your first game...
________MATT [5♣][Q♦]|[10♠️][CS][CS]
And now we're going to ask ten of our audience members to come up to the edge of the stage...
*cheers and applause as the audience members approach the stage*
Now, these ten audience members are certified public accountants, or CPA's. Before the show, we approached these accountants and asked them this question:
"Do you work in a 'paperless' environment?"
Clement, how many of these ten CPA's said yes they do?
|
|
|
Post by CCSCO on Aug 6, 2014 5:20:41 GMT -5
I know that on your side of the Atlantic, paperless environment is certainly more popular. I think 4 of them work without paper.

Post by koopakid17 on Aug 6, 2014 6:55:43 GMT -5
Four of those accountants work in a paperless environment...

Matt, what say you?

Higher

Post by koopakid17 on Aug 6, 2014 18:35:08 GMT -5
Higher than four...
[HI][__][4]
*ding*
The actual number of accountants who work in a paperless environment is...
[HI][3][4]
Three of them! Just one less than Clement's guess. Now, which of you seven answered no to this question?
*seven accountants raise their hand*
You with the dollar-sign tie. How do you still make use of paper?
Accountant: Our records are in the process of being computerized. We still use paper for clients that need hard copies.
Me: When do you expect to be completely paperless?
Accountant: I wish it would be before this tax season but I just don't see it happening.
*laughter*
Everyone, let's have a round of applause for our accountants!
*cheers and applause as the accountants return to their seats*
CLEMENT [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
Clement, you have control of the board. Your base card is...
CLEMENT [K♥][CS][CS][CS][CS]
A King!

Lower!

Lower than the King?
CLEMENT [K♥][2♣][CS][CS][CS]
A deuce!!

All of it higher! Wait, wrong part. Just higher.

Getting a bit ahead of ourselves aren't we? Higher than the deuce?

And you, too will freeze on that middle card...
________CLEMENT [K♥][2♣]|[7♥][CS][CS]
Tight match with both our players two cards away from victory. We'll now turn to our third high-low question. This is for you, Matt. We surveyed 100 third graders...
"If we showed you a map of America, would you be able to find your home state?"
How many third graders said yes?

Forty out of 100 third graders can find their home state on a map.
[40][__][__]
*ding*
Clement, what do you think?
Clement: It's too young, I think. Lower.
Me: Lower you say...
[40][__][LO]
*ding*
May not have as much faith. The actual number of third graders who could find their home state if we showed them a map of America is...
[40][66][LO]
66! Not lower, it was much higher. Probably should have trusted our kids more, Clement.
MATT [5♣][Q♦][10♠️][CS][CS]
Which means Matt, you're still staring down at that ten.
