We’re about to start a new game of Second Chance. Some notes before we proceed.
\ Internet connection has not been set up at home. It will be at least a week and a half before I get a new on-ramp to NGC and the rest of the internets from home.
\ As long as I’m hosting from remote locations, deadlines for playing/passing spins will be lenient. Same can be said for the Q&A round – which will likely be void of graphics.
\ Billy Gardell returns with one win and $25,357 in cash winnings. We’re seeking two challengers. The first two challengers to respond to this message get to play. (Translation: To try to expedite matters, we’re bypassing qualifying.)
So – as we welcome back Billy – who else is in?

Okay. Can't seem to find Billy. Tell ya what's happening. We'll see Billy in Episode 5 at the earliest. So we seek a new player against Bryan and Raymond.
Who's in?

Thanks, Sam. Now, in the spirit of fairness, let's have another random draw of who stands at which podium.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 0 > > < < 0 > > < < 0 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
Bryan will be up to bat first, then Sam and Raymond. Billy, wherever you are, sorry we have to start without you. You'll get the winner of this game and an opponent T.B.D. in Episode 5. Right now, let's restart.
WKBW BUFFALO Staff announcer: It's summertime. Do you know where your children are?
(opening theme) (camera takes wide shot of studio -- eventually zooming in on big board) Doc Holiday: Hollywood's most exciting game is back -- bigger and better than ever. It's time to go for big bucks on the all new... ...Second Chance! (audience cheers)And now here's our host -- who gives everyone a second chance -- Doug Morris! (audience cheers)Thanks, Doc. Helloooo, everybody and a warm welcome to Second Chance -- where you could spin your way to thousands of dollars in cash. Champion Billy Gardell knows that feeling well. In just one game on the last show, he won $25,357. (audience cheers)
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 0 > > < < 0 > > < < 0 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
Now, for the bad news. Billy's not able to join us today. (scattered groans) We do hope he'll be back with us for the next show. He has not lost. So we'll gladly welcome him back as soon as he's able to return. Meantime, we play today's game with three challengers -- Bryan, Sam and Raymond. Good luck, gents. You're going to need it. You're about to see why as we start our first round. We call it Around the Horn. We make three trips around the horn in this round -- with the first trip going straight down the line from left to right -- or from Bryan to Raymond. (board spins)When it's your turn, you may take the first of two spins on our big Second Chance game board. It's loaded with thousands of dollars in cash plus surprises. Those surprises come courtesy of the mystery spaces, represented by question marks. On the first spin -- your assured of making money. And all you have to do to make money is push your button and say -- STOP! (ding)Hey -- $1500. Now, if this were you, you'd have the choice of ending your turn and taking the one and a half grand -- or decline it for the final spin of your turn. That's the second chance in this part of the game. (board spins)If you do take a second chance in this round, it *will* come with a risk -- because the bust spaces will be active. Those are the ones with the dollar signs crossed out. Anytime you land on a bust in this game -- STOP! ... (FF strike buzz)...your score will be reduced to zero dollars -- and you'll pick up a letter in the word "bust". Collect all four "bust" letters -- and you'll be eliminated from the game. One more thing. That bright blue space that says "big bucks" represents anything from $3000 to $5000. (board spins)Bryan, by random draw, you'll start us off. So when you're ready -- stop the board. (Bryan, please respond with "STOP" and a letter from A to O inclusive. For previously noted reasons, no deadline pressure.)

(ding)Close to the big bucks -- but you land on $2000. Bryan, we can add $2000 to your score right now -- or you may decline the two grand and take that second chance. Remember, the busts will be active then.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 0 > > < < 0 > > < < 0 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
(Bryan, please let me know if you want to stop and keep the money or take the second chance. If you're taking the second chance, please respond with such intent, "STOP" and a letter from A to R inclusive.)

(scattered applause) Your premonition pays off to the tune of $2000.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 2000 > > < < 0 > > < < 0 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
But now Sam's controlling the board and wants to do better than two grand. (board spins)Let's see if he can. Sam, board's yours to stop when you're ready. (Sam, please respond with "STOP" and a letter from A to O inclusive. For previously noted reasons, no deadline pressure.)

(ding)Stop at $1500.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 2000 > > < < 0 > > < < 0 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
Well -- if you ended your turn here, you'd be $500 shy of the lead with Raymond still yet to spin. Take the 1500 -- or take a second chance? (Sam, please let me know if you want to stop and keep the money or take the second chance. If you're taking the second chance, please respond with such intent, "STOP" and a letter from A to R inclusive.)

Last spin of this first trip around the horn is yours, Raymond. (board spins)Let's see how much you'll make. (Raymond, please respond with "STOP" and a letter from A to O inclusive. For previously noted reasons, no deadline pressure.)

(ding)Stop in the haiku corner -- 575.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 2000 > > < < 1500 > > < < 0 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
You may take $575 and end this first trip around the horn -- or take a second chance and hope for something better. (Raymond, please let me know if you want to stop and keep the money or take the second chance. If you're taking the second chance, please respond with such intent, "STOP" and a letter from A to R inclusive.)

Game is on hold due to a death in my family. Please see the vacation section of NGC for more.
In the spirit of fairness, random.org has not been activated to see the results of Raymond's second chance spin.
Game will resume probably Sunday or Monday.
Thanks for your patience,
-D.M.

[NOTE FROM DOUG: Second Chance is now reconvening after I've taken care of the aforementioned urgent family matters. Thanks for your patience and kind thoughts. When the game was halted, Raymond elected to take a second chance spin and offered G as his stopper letter. Also during the pause, random.org was not activated to see the result of his second chance spin. It has now been activated and we pick up the action from where Raymond called for a second chance.] Raymond: Second chance. (scattered cheers) Doug: First time someone's taking a second chance in the game. (board spins)Doug: There goes the board again, Raymond. Watch out for the busts. Raymond: Stop! (ding)(more scattered cheers) Doug: It's an improvement -- $900.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 2000 > > < < 1500 > > < < 900 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
And that's the first trip around the horn. Bryan is leading with $2000, Sam is not far behind with $1500 and Raymond has $900. Game is young as we start the second trip around the horn. Sam, we'll start with you, continue with Raymond and end with Bryan. (board spins)Sam, board's yours. (Sam, letter from A-O, please.)

[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 2000 > > < < 1500 > > < < 900 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
You'd take the lead if you stop here. (Sam, if taking the second chance, letter from A-R, please.)

Sam: Hmm....That'll make my bank: $2,750....I'll try again, Second Chance please/ (scattered woos and cheers) Doug: We've got a risk-taker. All right, board spins again. (board spins)Doug: Busts are active. Sam: Right, no BUSTS, Big money STOP! (ding)(scattered groans) Doug: Ended up trading down, Sam. $500.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 2000 > > < < 2000 > > < < 900 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
For the moment, that ties you with Bryan. But it's Raymond who plays next. (board spins)Let's see what you get on your first spin of this trip. (Raymond, letter from A-O, please.)

(ding)Mystery space. First time that's happened in this game. Could lead to something great or a paltry amount. Can't lead to a bust in Round 1, though. So let's unravel the mystery. (ding)(scattered cheers) $2000.
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 2000 > > < < 2000 > > < < 900 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
Raymond, want the money -- or do you want to risk the $900 you currently have on a second chance? (audience shouts suggestions) (Raymond, if taking the second chance, please indicate same with a letter from A-R.)

You have the lead -- but for how long? Bryan gets to answer as we end this second trip. (board spins)Board's all yours, Bryan. (Bryan, letter from A-O, please.)

(ding)Mystery space for you. It made Raymond $2000 richer. Let's see what happens here. (ding)Add a one! (audience cheers)
[ BRYAN ] [ SAM ] [ RAYMOND ] < < 12000 > > < < 2000 > > < < 2900 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
Bryan, I'm afraid I have to make an executive decision -- but I don't think you'll mind. "Add a one" can only appear once per game. And spinning again would pay off less than $10,000. So -- please let us add that one in front of the 2000 you already have for a total of $12,000. (audience cheers)And with that, Bryan zooms into the lead. We begin our third and final trip around the horn with Raymond. (board spins)Mathematically, you can't get the lead -- but "big bucks" would certainly help. (Raymond, letter from A-O, please.)
