Ian's guessing 4 centuries. Is that right? (buzz) Sorry. John, chance to steal (ding) Again the question. You're traveling from Earth to the sun at 55 miles an hour. To the nearest century, John, will it take you 1, 2 or 3 centuries to reach your destination?

John does the math and rounds off his answer to 2 centuries. Is he right? (ding; audience applause)Yes -- about 193 years -- hence the reason we rounded off to the nearest century. (rolling sfx)John, a Crag will put you *mighty* close to winning the car and the gas card. (ding)Start with a 6. (ding)Following with a 5. (ding) (scattered groans) And a 3 on the end. Dice total 14 points if you stop here, John.

(scattered groans) Oh, they wanted you to go for Crag. But not many points separate first from second. Let's freeze the 5 and 3. (freeze sfx)(rolling sfx) And let's see if you can get a high straight or non-Crag 13. (ding) Instead, you break even. After Round 7: john1987248 mastercards56With just three rounds to go, John leads this game by 21 points. A Crag will give him the car. Ian, there's still time to catch him. Let's see if you do it here with this question about politics. Missing digit question: I'll show you the year Louisiana elected its first female governor -- and you tell me the missing digit. (ding)14 john1987248 24 mastercards56 28 randomizer.org (Ian buzzes in)Ian?

Ian guesses 4 again. Did Louisiana elect a woman as governor for the first time in 2004? (buzz) No. Sorry. John, chance to steal. (ding) Again -- it's the year Louisiana elected its first female governor. John, is the last digit in the year 1, 3 or 5?

John goes with 3. I can now disclose Kathleen Blanco is the first, and so far only, female governor in Louisiana history. Did she win the governorship in 2003? (ding; audience applause)She sure did. All right, John. This could be a big roll of the dice. A Crag clinches the match and gives you the car. Anything else simply pads your lead by the value of the roll. Ian, hex the dice as best as you can -- as we roll the dice. (rolling sfx)Stop 'em when you're ready. (ding)There's a 1. (ding)There's a 4. (ding)And there's a 5. Well -- dice total 10 if you stop here.

(time passes) (buzz)No answer in time from Ian. John, another chance to steal. (ding) Crag dice narrow the choices down to one of the first three title characters. John, in the "Doctor Who" science fiction franchise, did Jon Pertwee play the First, Second or Third Doctor?

I have a few friends who are fellow whovians, and they'd be pretty angry if I got this wrong, so Jon Pertwee is, of course, the 3rd Doctor! (DDE)

Yes, Ian did push you there for a while -- but then you managed to win the last few rounds and ran away to the victory. John, we've now crunched the numbers. You came into the match with $103,500 in cash. You racked up $6000 in the match -- clinching your fifth match win in a row. That awards the Pikachu-inspired Toyota Toyopet along with a $225,000 gas card. Total winnings ... (audience cheers)...$375,525. (confetti cannons fire off) (Havana drives in Pikachu car; hops out and runs to John's podium to give him the keys) To the victor go the spoils. Hello, Havana, one of our newest models on Crag. Havana, talk about a baptism by fire driving that car in. Havana: I know. Congratulations, John. Indeed, congratulations. And *now* -- we play the winner's board. There it is -- hiding different amounts of money behind the letters in "CRAG". One of the letters hides the top payoff of $5000. Whatever you find you'll win immediately. We'll then match that for the head start in Super Crag. Which letter has that $5000? (audience shouts suggestions)

For those of you just joining us, where were you!?!!? (audience laughs and applauds)John Lopez just won himself a brand new car and a lot of money on a gas card. His total winnings -- $380,525. (audience cheers)John, please say hello again to Havana, today's dice girl. She has your Super Crag dice cup. Included therein of course-- the Super Crag dice. Since you won $5000 from the winner's board... (ding)... we seed the pot with a different $5000. On every roll, you roll all three dice -- and if it's a safe roll, you'll win more money based on the roll's value in hundreds of dollars. The 20-point straights are worth $2000 each, the triples $2500 each, 13 in any combination pays $2600 -- *BUT* if that combination of 13 has a pair of a particular number in it, that's a Crag for $5000. (audience cheers)(rolling sfx)You want to build that pot to at least $10,000. End up with more than $10,000 -- and you win tonight's super bonus *of*.... (dings; audience cheers)... hey now -- $70,000. Ultimately, John, you want to build that pot up to *exactly* $10,000. If you roll a Crag right off the bat, the $5000 from that Crag plus the $5000 in the pot add up to $10,000. Hit ten grand on the nose in any way, shape or form and you win the mega bonus -- of $1,000,000. (audience cheers)But with all this money at stake, John, I'm afraid Havana has to show you... ... that thing. (audience groans and boos) Should the gremlin come up on any roll, you lose everything in the pot and the game is over. So after a safe roll, you get a chance to stop. One more thing. Marc Enyedy currently holds the all time record for winnings with $656,950. You're in second. The remarkable Eddie Timanus, from our previous session of Crag, is presently third on the money list with $300,000+. The only way you can vault into first on the money list is hitting that mega bonus. So -- want to gamble $5000 and roll -- or stop and keep the five grand and ride off into the sunset? (John, if you want to play, please respond with "I'll go for it" or something to that effect and a number from 1-100. Remember, you'll see the result of that roll from list of 100 dice rolls from randomizer.org. The longer you want to play and succeed in avoiding the gremlin, we go further down the list from that starting point. If we reach the 100th roll in the list and you're still in business, we'll go to the first roll in the list and proceed.)

(audience cheers)Doug: Somehow, I knew you wouldn't stand pat on just $5000 -- compared to the $380,000+ you're assured of taking home. Havana: Good luck, John. Doug: Indeed. We're all on your side. In fact, crowd, we could use the mojo. Chant "Crag" for John, okay? (audience cheers and starts chanting, "Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag!") Doug: When you're feelin' lucky, John, give 'em a roll. (audience still chants, "Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag! Crag!") (John shakes up bucket; pours dice down ramp) (loud groans from the crowd) Oooooh -- close. Pair of fives with a 1 make for $1100 more. You're up to $6100, John. You'll need exactly $3900 more to reach $10,000 on the nose for the million. Stop and keep the $6100 or roll again? (audience shouts suggestions)

All right. Good luck. (John shakes up bucket; pours dice down ramp) (mix of cheers with a few groans) CRAG! You win $70,000! (dings; alarm sounds; audience cheers; mega win music plays)Well -- I know what you and a lot of other people are thinking. If only this came on the first roll and not the next. Obviously, it's not a million. But $81,100 from this Super Crag is nothing to sneeze at.

Indeed. John, the accountant needs a moment to crunch the final numbers.
So, please tell us this. You have roughly $180,000 in cash -- not counting the gas card money -- and the car. Any plans for all this loot?

To be honest, I don't really know what I want to spend it on, except one thing. I would like to own an actual Twilight Zone pinball machine since I'm a bit of a pinball enthusiast.

Pinball. Hey now. Maybe we can come to your place and recreate "The Magnificent Marble Machine". (scattered laughter from the crowd) Only kidding. Well, John, the figures are in. We are pleased to tell you that you're the second biggest winner in the history of Crag with... ...$456,625! (audience cheers)Enjoy that money, enjoy that car -- and safe travels. Another big hand for a big winner -- John Lopez! (audience cheers)Back with an audience game -- after this. (WGYN theme plays; audience applauds)

Before we seek a player in the audience game, some notes.
Crag: The Numbers Game will be on hiatus so that I may concentrate on hosting the upcoming Net Game Awards. This would be my first time hosting and -- without going into too much right now -- something's gotta give. MG-HSH, as you've probably seen, is coming back. Another reason something's gotta give.
Now that Crag currently has no incumbent champ, this seems like a good time to put Crag on hold temporarily. In the process, this also gives me a chance to explore a *possible* championship series (not necessarily a tournament of champions) between the Crag champions who've each won more than $300,000 in cash and merchandise. I'm not promising this will happen. This hiatus does buy me some time to work out some logistics.
Next time a regular episode of Crag starts, we'll be looking for two challengers.
Finally, my Crag: You Make The Call feature on YouTube should be returning to that platform soon. Least you need to know: Crag's not going anywhere. So -- you don't go anywhere either. Okay?
