We're just about ready to start Episode 20 of Crag: The Numbers Game.
Some notes...
\ John Lopez returns having won four matches consecutively and $103,500. If he wins this match, he retires undefeated, wins a new car and a $225,000 gas card.
\ Should he not win the match, the car will up for grabs in an audience game (time permitting) and the gas card (which will go up to $250,000 and stay at $250,000 until won) will join another new car.
\ Since the start of this episode was delayed (I planned to start last night and got sidelined by a brief illness; I'm fine now), we'll bypass qualifying and simply ask -- who wants to play against John? First one to respond who has not opposed John during his reign gets to play.

Staff announcer: Stay ahead of the storm with the WMON app. (shortened version of the WGYN opening theme plays as camera zooms in on one-shot of John) Doug: (in pre-recorded audio) This is our current champion, John Lopez of Titusville, Florida. To date, he was won four matches and amassed a total of $103,500 in cold hard cash. Stand by to see John play for a brand new car -- and a gas card worth $225,000. He could go on to become the biggest winner in the history of... ...Crag: The Numbers Game.(audience cheers) Thank you, very much, for the welcome. Hellooooo, everybody. I'm Doug Morris and welcome to Crag: The Numbers Game. If you've been with us this week, you've been following the exploits of our great champion. He's played the matches well -- winning them at least twice in less than 20 rounds. The Super Crag -- well -- (scattered laughter from the crowd) -- he *has* won it once and is looking to win it one more time before all's said and done. Let's welcome back John Lopez and his challenger, Ian Laudato. (audience cheers) John, before we begin, let's give you a change to send shout outs to friends and loved ones back in Titusville -- and/or anywhere else.

Nice to have you here from Big D. Wish you were here for the last show. We had a prop from a Poker game show I hosted way back as a prize up for grabs. But you're playing for better stakes. John, obviously, going for hundreds of thousands in this match. So, let's start it now. Much like the regular dice game of Crag, our game is all about numbers -- particularly the numbers you can roll on dice. The right answer to each question on our show is a number between 1 and 6 inclusive. Sometimes, we'll ask for the Roman numeral or ordinal equivalent of one of those numbers. And we have missing digit questions along the way. I'll explain how they work when we near one of those bridges. (ding)But for now, a single question mark just popped up on the board. Mario can't punch it for coins or a power-up -- (scattered laughter from the crowd) -- because that question mark represents the right answer to a single digit question. Mark, Ian, hands on the buzzers, please. Because here's the Round 1 question in Game 1. Single digit question: At the 2012 Olympics in London, Michael Phelps won how many medals? 86 john1987248 43 mastercards56 01 randomizer.org (Ian buzzes in)Ian?

Ian guesses Michael Phelps won 4 medals at the 2012 Olympics. Is that right? (buzz)No. Sorry. John gets a chance to steal. John, the Crag dice will offer the right answer and a couple of wrong answers. It's up to you to pick the right answer. (ding)And we have components from the non-Crag 13, which we'll talk about later, as choices. Again the question, at the 2012 Olympics in London, Michael Phelps won how many medals? John is the right answer 2, 5 or 6?

John says Michael brought home 6 medals from London. True dat? (ding; audience applause)Yes. Four of them were gold and two silver. Bummer he didn't get bronze; he'd have one of everything. (scattered laughter from the crowd) John, you know this spiel like you know the back of your hand. But for first time viewers, I must explain what happens next. With that right answer, John gets a maximum of two rolls of the dice to score as many points as possible. If John likes the first roll, he'll take the points associated with that combination and we'll proceed with a new round. If he want's a reroll, he may freeze up to two dice and reroll the rest. And these are the ways to score big in Crag. There are four different straights worth 20 points each. The numbers 1-2-3 make a low straight; 4-5-6 a high straight; 1-3-5 an odd straight and 2-4-6 an even straight. Order of the numbers doesn't matter -- just as long as they're all different and they're all low, high, odd or even. Anytime you roll three of the same number, that's a triple for 25 points. And as always, 13 is a lucky number in Crag. When three different numbers total 13, we'll double the sum for 26 points. *But* if you have a pair of numbers and an odd number total 13 on the board, that's a Crag -- and it's worth 50 big points. (rolling sfx)Dice are rolling John. You'll stop them, one at a time, with your buzzer. (ding) Stop on a 1. (ding)Stop on a 4. (ding)And stop on another 4. Well, that's obviously not a combination worth 20 or more. John, you may take the sum of the dice in points -- 9 -- or reroll.

(a few laughs from the crew) John's trying to kid a kidder, folks. I think he's going for a little reverse psychology as we freeze the fours. (freeze sfx)Those fours will stay frozen for the rest of the round. The 1 will reroll shortly. John, if you do stop on a third 4, that's a triple for 25. But I think you're really after a 5 -- because that would complete a Crag, give you 50 points *and* $1000 for the first Crag in the match. Let's reroll that first screen. (rolling sfx)And when you're ready, give it a stop. (dings; audience cheers)CRAG! Oh boy. (Doug walks over to John's podium) It's been said reverse psychology can backfire. But, John, in your case, it pays to the tune of... (crowd and Doug count money in unison) Doug: 100... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 200... Crowd: Two... (ding)Doug: 300... Crowd: Three... (ding)Doug: 400... Crowd: Four... (ding)Doug: 500... Crowd: Five... (ding)Doug: 600... Crowd: Six... (ding)Doug: 700... Crowd: Seven... (ding)Doug: 800... Crowd: Eight... (ding)Doug: 900... Crowd: Nine... (ding)Doug: $1000! (dings; audience cheers)(Doug returns to his podium as he shakes his head again) Hey, Dinah, make sure we save this round for the Christmas party video, please (scattered laughter) Ian, as for you, you gotta watch out for John. You give him an inch and he'll take a mile. If he can get a Crag in one round, so can you. We still have nine rounds to go unless someone reaches 100. Here's the next question -- and get ready to match wits as we fill in the blank. (MG'7x stinger) (scattered cheers) When Earl slides it open, fill in the blank in the title of this hit song by Adam Ant with the word "One", "Two, "Three", "Four", "Five" or "Six".(ding) 40 john1987248 29 mastercards56 18 randomizer.org(Ian buzzes in)Ian?

Ian says the name of that tune is "Goody Two Shoes". Is he right? (ding; audience applause) Of course. It's also a common expression. Good job, Ian. (rolling sfx)Well, Ian, you saw how John scored big. Let's see if you can do it. (ding)Stop on a 2. (ding)Stop on a 1. (ding)And stop on a 6. Well -- you'll recall John started his round with a nine-point roll -- albeit with different numbers. Would you like 9 points here or a reroll, Ian?

John says Ahnold was elected governor in the recall in 2003. Is that right? (ding; audience applause)Yes. Well, John, if you can roll a Crag here, this, in all likelihood would be the fastest game in Crag history. (rolling sfx)There they go. Here come the stops from John (ding)Stop on a 4. (ding)Well -- there's a 1. (ding)And stop on a 3. Well -- want 8 points or another try?

Freezing just the 4. We'll do that shortly. If you stop on a 5 and another 4, not necessarily in that order, you win the game in just three rounds. (freeze sfx) (rolling sfx) There go the dice. Stop 'em when you feel lucky (ding)Well -- a 1. (ding)(scattered groans) And a 3. Seems like you've seen that movie before, John. After Round 3: john1987248 mastercards56With that, John still has a big lead. Ian, let's see if your luck changes as we all come on down to play The Price *WAS* Right. (TNPiR 94 stinger; audience cheers)The original "Fantasy Island" television series debuted in 1977 -- and was a mainstay on ABC's weekend primetime lineup. On the big screen, I'll show you the amount of money a character paid for a stay on the fictional island -- and you tell me the missing digit. It comes with an anti-theft device to ensure Team Rocket will blast off after failing to steal it. Big Pokéball is not among the standard features; the car wouldn't want to be in the ball anyway. Our kind of prize. (more scattered laughter) And of course, each on stage contestant gets this neat memento of Crag: The Video Game for your WiiU. Well -- John leads in the money score $3500 to $500 over Ian. It takes $5000 to win the match. The next game's worth $2500 to the victor and $500 to the runner-up. John, if you win the next game, the car's yours. Ian, you'll need to win this next game to force the mad dash for cash. (ding)And we're starting Game 2 with a single digit question. Let's get right back to the match -- with a question about the world's best seller.
