Welcome to the first episode of Hot Dice in this forum – and the seventh since we rang in 2014. Evan Hatfield, Twentington, returns with three wins and $63,100. As we ask Evan to hop onto this thread, who wants to challenge him? (Qualify questions remain on hold – but we might bring them back in the future. We’re doing this to move matters forward after a mostly unintended hiatus. Please visit www.dougmorris.net/dice for the rules.)

(Thanks, Raymond. Raymond and Evan, please PM me six buzzcodes -- one for each of the six toss-up questions in Game 1.)(opening theme plays)More that a million dollars in cash prizes are waiting to be won at the dice table on -- Hot Dice. (audience cheers)Helloooo, everybody. I'm Doug Morris and welcome to another edition of Hot Dice. With the right combination of knowledge, strategy and lucky throws of our dice, one of our contestants could leave this dice table a millionaire. (audience cheers) Rather than keep you in suspense, let's see if a million dollar payoff happens to one of our players. Let's welcome back Evan Hatfield and welcome aboard Raymond Weaver. Evan, as you can see, has done a heck of a job on our show -- winning three straight matches and $63,100. (audience cheers) Evan, let's say you win this match and end up making a million. What would you do with $1,000,000?

First thing I'd do is put some of it in the bank for a rainy day, and use some of the rest to pay for college. Everything after that is a question mark, Doug.

Fair enough. I'm definitely all for saving up for a rainy day.
Raymond, I put basically the same question to you. Let's see you win the match, become the new champ -- and proceed to bank a million in the Bonus Bonanza. What would you do with the money?

I would put half in my bank account, a fourth to a local boys high school basketball team I work with, and a fourth to autism speaks.

Sounds like both players have the money well spent. Best of luck to you both. Both of you can win a lot of money in the match -- but only one of you can roll for the million. Let's start our match with Round 1 of a game with a special theme. (ding) This first game consists of six rounds and a catch-up round. Each of the first six rounds starts with a toss-up question. Winner of the question earns a free roll of the dice. From there, you'll have a chance to build a pot of money. And now for the theme of this game. Evan and Raymond, we're playing Hot Dice: The Hunger Game. ("The Hunger Games" theme plays; audience cheers) Players, I'll name a dish. What you have to do is buzz in and tell me if it's a real food dish or not. Hands on buzzers -- and here's your first dish. Pickled pig's feet.

Often served in the American southeast, it is real. You're right, Evan. (audience applause) By the way, I see a few gentlemen looking around the studio, apparently, for a certain actress. Jennifer Lawrence won't be making a cameo during The Hunger Game: Hot Dice. (audience laughs) Evan, now that I let 'em down, please take your free roll. (Evan rolls)And you start with a 6. At $100 a point, we seed the pot with $600. Evan, you know this drill. For those who may be watching for the first time, as long as the dice stay hot, we keep adding money to the pot. Here's what I mean by that. After a free roll and before this round ends, when a player rolls a 7, that's a bust -- meaning everything in the pot is lost and nothing is banked for the round. Avoiding a 7 adds another $100 per point Also going forward in this round, the double decision board is active. Evan, if you throw a double, you'll have the choice of having $100 per point added to the pot -- or going to the corresponding screen on the board. Those doubles screens hide thousands of dollars in cash, great surprises and not-so-great surprises. There's even the word "BUST!" up there -- which acts as if you rolled a 7 -- and results in the end of the round with no score. Evan, you're familiar with this decision -- bank the $600 and start a new round with a new toss-up question -- or risk the 600 and roll again? (audience shouts suggestions)

I think this should've been "pickled horse *hooves*" -- but either way, "no" is the right answer. (audience applause) Let's see if you have better luck with the dice this time, Evan. (Evan rolls)(scattered applause) And that's a good start -- an 8 for $800. Stop and bank the cash -- or try to add to the stash? (audience shouts suggestions)

(Evan rolls) (double decision cue plays; audience cheers) Double 2 -- triggers a double decision. Evan, you know the choice -- but some looking in for the first time might not. Evan could play this roll safely and normally -- and have us add $400 to the pot... ...or -- he may go to the double 2 screen on the double decision board. If there's money, we add that much to the pot instead of $400; if there's a surprise, we follow the directions; if the word "BUST!" is up there, we're back to a scoreless tie after two rounds. Evan, you've had some time to think this over. Please tell us this. What's your double decision? (audience shouts suggestions)

(scattered cheers) Would you believe I'm not surprised? Nearly three grand in your bank. (ding)Another note for new viewers: Anytime a player banks money, the cash is his to keep regardless of the outcome of the game or match. So with that clarified, let's see if Evan gets a chance to pad the lead or if Raymond can get on the board with this. Again, please tell me whether or not this is a real dish. Deep fried monkey toes

Deep fried monkey toes are served in Indonesia. So you should've said "yes" or something to that effect. Sorry about that, Raymond. Evan, be our guest. (Evan rolls)(scattered cheers) And it's a great start. Number 9 for $900. Bank 'em or roll 'em? (audience shouts suggestions)

And you sure can't order 'em on a plane. "Fake" is right. (audience applause)You've won all the questions so far, Evan. Let's see what happens with the dice here. (Evan rolls)All right -- a 7. *Normally* a bust. However, this was the free roll and you're immune from busts on the freebie. So we do start you off with $700. The next roll of a 7, as Evan knows, is a bust. So with that -- bank the $700 or roll again?
