As other games I host are winding down, it's time to start up an all-star game -- The On A Roll Superstar Christmas. Some notes are in order.
\ Greg Palmer will be the designated champion. He'll be opposed by one other celebrity.
\ If you'd like to play in this superstar special, you must host at least one game here at NGC. Both hosts will be "raising money for charity".
\ Because this is a primetime special, a lot of money will be at stake. All values in the Lucky 7 bonus rounds will be doubled. Further, after each Lucky 7, we'll play Wally's Money Game for $100,000.
\ The hosts who earns more money from Lucky 7 wins a bonus of $50,000 for his/her charity. The runner-up collects $25,000 for his/her charity.
\ There will be other ways to win bonus money during the main games. We'll talk more about that later.
Now it's on to qualifying. The celebrity closest to the right answer, high or low, plays against Greg. Here's the question.
Before the show, one of our guest models rolled a pair of money dice five times. The numbers 1 through 6 were replaced with, respectively, a penny, a nickel, a dime, a quarter, a half dollar and a dollar. How much money did she score with the money dice? Please respond in dollars and cents.
We operate on 24-hour deadlines. Please PM me your answer in 24 hours from now.

Okay, before we reveal which host came the closest, let's roll that clip of her rolling the money dice. (guest model rolls) Well -- can't ask for worse. Doubles are okay to roll in the qualifying round -- especially since these aren't "normal" dice. (guest model rolls)Hey now! From worst roll to best roll. (guest model rolls)Another half dollar and a penny in the bank with two rolls to go. (guest model rolls)Dime and a nickel for the next to last roll -- annnnnd.... (guest model rolls)...the quarter and half dollar bring us up to the right answer of $3.43. That money should buy you at least three issues of the National City Tribune. Heh, if that's not a tell as to who at least one of our guest models is, I don't know what is. Well -- who's the closest? $2.75 BillyGardellAh, Billy Gardell from "Mike & Molly" and "Monopoly". Roll that beautiful "special presentation" footage, please, and let's get this show on the road.
(vamp to opening theme)Tiffany Phillips: Tonight's Christmas special has......super guests -- including......super hosts who are playing for charity and......super ladies will be helping us throughout......The On A Roll Superstar Christmas. (opening theme plays; audience cheers) Our super dice girl for Game 1 is Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist. And joining us at the game board for Game 1 is her super TV sister, Chyler Leigh. And here's our host, ready to get on a roll, Doug Morris!Doug: Thank you, Tiffany. Hellooooooo, everybody. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a warm welcome to On A Roll's Superstar Christmas. Two of your favorite hosts will be coming to the dice table shortly -- to win money for some fine causes. And we have two of the super cast members of the fantastic action series "Supergirl" -- (more cheers) -- seen Monday nights on CBS, Melissa Benoist and Chyler Leigh. Melissa, welcome. Melissa: Thanks, Doug. Great to be here. Doug: For the seven people who've not seen your great show... (audience, Melissa and Chyler laugh) ...please tell us about Supergirl. Melissa: Well, I play Kara Zor-El. My character left the dying planet of Krypton as a teenager. I was supposed to watch out for my younger cousin, who the world would know as Superman, when our pods landed on Earth. His pod landed first -- and my pod was knocked off course and ended up in the Phantom Zone. So, when my pod finally made it to Earth, an already grown Superman found me, the Danvers family adopted me -- and the rest is history that I'm still trying to write. Doug: And it's history that Chyler's character is involved in. Chyler: Yes, while she's grateful Kara, as Supergirl, saves a plane I'm on, I fear she's exposed herself to the world. My character also works for the Department of Extra-Normal Operations. So our sisterhood is *really* put to the test. Doug: And from there, it's a mix of fantasy, intrigue and action. Ladies, thanks for joining us tonight -- (more cheers) -- continued success with "Supergirl" -- and let's wish good luck to tonight's super guest rollers. (theme plays; audience applause)Greg Palmer, our original host and still executive producer, will play against Billy Gardell from "Mike & Molly". Greg made a special guest appearance when we returned to CBS daytime winning money for charity. And he's back to raise more money. We'll talk about your charity -- but first -- please tell us about yourself.

Well, Doug, I'm one of the executive producers of this show. I was the first host after a 29-year waiting period from pilot to series. I took David Letterman's spot for two weeks, one hosting this show and another hosting The Late Show. I also host two shows on another network, and I want to thank everyone who made the quick transition from that network to this one so quickly in the past few minutes. (audience chuckles)
And I'm honored to be playing against a great actor, a modern-day Jackie Gleason in more ways than one. But lemme ask you something, Bill.... how on Earth did you steal the Monopoly job away from Todd Newton? (Todd Newton fans in the audience cheer)

I respectfully disagree. You stick him in a room with two or three monitors and two or three mini-games. Have you two ever had camera time together? On the same set? No, you have not.
However, this is not a presidential debate. You and I aren't running for president. So, we should just decide to play a nice friendly game of On a Roll for charity. We can argue about Todd later.

Well, yeah, I agree with you in that. But that's what they (you know them) said.
And yes, it's a pleasure to meet you, Greg!

Let's find out about the charities you're playing for.

The charities I am playing for are the American Red Cross and the French Red Cross. As you know, quite recently, there was a terrible terrorist attack in Paris, caused by radical Islamists. (some left-wing audience members boo) You know it's true! They're radical Muslims. Anyway..... now, more than ever, je suis Paris. I hope to raise a lot of money for them.

Fine causes indeed. I know they'll put that money to great use. Right now, let's get the show on the road. I know what a lot of you are thinking. Explaining the rules to "On A Roll" to Greg is as silly as giving flying lessons to Supergirl. (audience, Chyler and Melissa laugh)So this is mainly for Billy's benefit. Every round starts with a name game. The first player to buzz in and correctly recognize the name gets control of the dice for four rolls. Now, here's a sample name game. (FF reveal sfx)This is a famous person's seven-letter last name. I'd then offer a clue -- such as this. He got on a roll -- when he landed a title role in the CBS sitcom "Mike & Molly".(audience laughs)You can understand why the powers-that-be wanted to use this as an example right now. (more laughs)The computer would then randomly reveal three letters... (ding)...and then the buzzers would be active. In the event someone chimes in and gives a wrong answer, three more letters are revealed... (ding)...and then the opposing player gets a free chance. And we all know the right answer is... (ding)...Gardell -- as in Billy Gardell. Now, Greg and Billy, we're in the spirit of giving in this superstar Christmas. So, right off the bat... (ding)...we're giving each of you $2500 to donate to your charities. Each time you win a name game, you win another $2500 -- and there's more to be won when you're on a roll. More about that later -- but let's get the show on the road for real. (FF reveal sfx)A new famous seven-letter last name is in play -- and here's your clue. This author was on a roll -- when he wrote "A Christmas Carol". (ding)
(Greg and Billy, please PM me with a buzzcode from 1-100 as well as your answer.)

(No response from Billy in time... so...) (Greg buzzes in) Greg? Greg: Dickens (dings; audience applause)That's it. Charles Dickens. Another $2500 for your Red Cross charities to divide, Greg. Again, I explain this for the benefit of Billy -- and anyone who doesn't get to watch "On A Roll" in the daytime. Greg, you have control of the first of four rolls of the dice. You're going to use the numbers that you roll on the dice to uncover as many letters as you can from our game board. Those letters make words. Those words serve as clues leading to the identity of a person, place or thing. And now, let's bring on those clue words. (FF reveal sfx; Chyler poses by numbered and blocked spaces) And we've got three words in the top row, two words in the middle row and two at the bottom row. Those letters are hidden behind the numbered and blocked spaces. Blocks are represented tonight by the candy canes in question mark form. Because you can't have a superstar Christmas without candy canes! (scattered laughter from the crowd) Those blocked spaces stay blocked until you correctly solve a clue. When you're on a roll -- remember -- *please* do not roll doubles. If you throw doubles, your opponent takes command of the remaining rolls of the dice and also picks one free letter. (Melissa hands Greg the dice) Ohh -- one more thing. Melissa, care to tell our rollers about how they can win more money for their charities? Melissa: Certainly. Greg and Billy, at least one of Supergirl's S's is hidden on the board -- and it hides a normal S. Right after any roll, even doubles, if you take a number that hides an S, you instantly win $2500. (audience cheers) Thanks, Melissa. And to put your minds at ease, none of the candy canes is blocking an S. Melissa, to put *your* mind at ease when you operate the board for Game 2, you see a lot of green up there -- but it's not kryptonite. (audience, Melissa and Chyler laughs) Now that the legal work's out of the way and the worries are quelled, let's have some fun. Greg -- you're the one now -- who is on a roll. (scattered cheers) (Greg rolls)And you're starting off with a 6 and a 3... ...meaning you may take any 6 and any 3 off the board -- or you may play the sum and take any 9.

(Chyler touches screen) Starting with an R and... (Chyler touches screen) ...an N. Greg, you may guess the top clue or the middle clue -- or bypass a guess and roll again. Again I explain for the uninitiated, anytime you're wrong on a guess of a clue or the puzzle, no penalty and you're still on a roll.

Staying on the middle row with... (Chyler touches screen)...a B and ... (Chyler touches screen)...O. B&O -- figures prominently on one of Billy's shows -- but it's Greg's chance to guess the middle clue or take the last roll of the round.

(audience groans) (TPiR Pathfinder wrong move sfx)Sounds like the crowd sensed that was wrong as well. Well -- dice are up for grabs. Greg could capitalize -- so could Billy. (FF reveal sfx)All depends who wins this next name game. Eleven-letter famous last name. Here's your clue. He got on a roll -- as the young star of "A Christmas Story". (ding)
Greg and Billy, please PM me your answer and a buzz code from 1-100.

55 palmer7 42 Billy Gardell 53 random.org (Greg buzzes in) Greg? Greg: Billingsley (dings; audience applause)Peter Billingsley -- who was also Messy Marvin in commercials for Hershey's chocolate syrup and a co-host of "Real People". (Melissa passes dice to Greg) Another $2500 for your Red Cross charities, Greg. And once again -- you are on a roll. (Greg rolls) (audience groans) (buzz) Ohhhhh -- I think you know what happens next, Greg. You don't get anything for a pair. Audience: Not in this this game! And that means we hear from Billy for the first time in this game. You'll take command of the remaining three rolls of the round in a moment. But first, you may take one free letter. If that free letter happens to reveal a Supergirl symbol, that's still worth a $2500 bonus.
