Ian and Bill are finishing up... ...and they're ready. Jon, you've got to be in sync with the half-dozen -- or else it's all over. Cal the customer said, "Gosh, they've really rearranged this grocery store. I looked all over for the bananas and grapes and my search was BLANK."

(audience cheers)Doug: Yup. That's the answer all right. Now you have to hope they thought as one and each star said "fruitless". Ian, we start with you again. Ian: (card) FRUITLESS (ding; audience applause)Doug: One down, five to go. Bill, do you make it two matches? Bill: What Hanes, or any other non-Fruit of the Loom brand of underwear is naturally... (card) FRUITLESS (ding; audience applause)Doug: Two down, four to go. To Matt, now. Matt: (grimaces and shows card) Seedless(loud groans from the crowd) (buzz)Doug: Ohhhhhh -- and that's the game. Kourtney wins it. (dings; audience applause; win music plays; MG-HSH theme plays) Doug: What did the rest of you have? (Greg runs up to "pound" Matt upside the head with his card, which read "Fruitless") Doug: Oh dear! Watch out! | FRUITLESS | FRUITLESS | SEEDLESS | | FRUITLESS | FRUITLESS | FRUITLESS |
Jon's answer: FRUITLESS
Doug: Matt, you might want to apply for combat pay after the show. Doug: Kourtney, please join me here. Take your place on the blue dot. Jon, the bottom tier had the right idea. So we'll give you $300 more for that. Total of $500 and some gifts waiting for you backstage. A nice hand for Jon Darrall. (audience cheers; MG players' desks move stage left; rest of celeb grid for HS moves in from stage right) Doug: Kourtney, it all worked out. You just won another $500 for winning Match Game. We're getting set for Hollywood Squares -- where Greg takes over, I'll occupy the lower left, we'll have three more stars and we'll also have more fun. Stay with us!

(Super Match Cue Plays, Cheers and Applause)Shadoe Stevens: And now... Greg Palmer and The Hollywood Squares.(cheers and applause)Greg: Thank you, Shadoe. We're back with the second half of the M-G-H-S-H, those are your Hollywood Squares, and here's an update on Matt. We did beat him senseless with a wet noodle, but that didn't do him any good. So, Matt must punish himself by listening to, in its entirety..... (I hold up a record) This Lisa Whelchel contemporary Christian album from 1984. (audience laughs)Now, before we begin, we have some important business that's quite topical. 14 years ago this week, American soil was attacked in one of the greatest tragedies since Pearl Harbor. Four passenger airliners—which all departed from airports on the U.S. East Coast bound for California—were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists to be flown into buildings. Two of the planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South towers, respectively, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Within an hour and 42 minutes, both 110-story towers collapsed, with debris and the resulting fires causing partial or complete collapse of all other buildings in the World Trade Center complex, including the 47-story 7 World Trade Center tower, as well as significant damage to ten other large surrounding structures. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, leading to a partial collapse in the Pentagon's western side. The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, initially was steered toward Washington, D.C., but crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after its passengers tried to overcome the hijackers. In total, the attacks claimed the lives of 2,996 people (including the 19 hijackers). At least one of those people had a special connection to NBC: David Angell, one of the producers of Wings. So, in memory of their loss, I'd like to have a moment of silence. (the entire studio is silent for exactly one minute) Thank you. Now, let's welcome in our three new panelists. First, the ever popular Michael C. Koontz. (cheers and applause) In the center, we've got Dylan Downs, everybody! (cheers and applause) And from The $100,000 Pyramid in syndication, Kevin Kolsen! (cheers and applause)But in the Center Square today, we have the talented, the witty, the charming.... Bill McDee! (cheers and applause)So, Bill, how do you like being Center Square?

Very nice tribute Greg, thank you for that.
I feel surrounded! Thankfully I am not claustrophobic. You seem right at home too at the host podium for Squares as well.

Well thank you. I did host a syndicated version of this show, so I know my way around the squares. We've met our stars, now let's meet our players. On my left, we have a returning champion. This is his third day with us, and so far, he's won $76,121 in cash and prizes. This is Mark Liotta! (cheers and applause)Hiya, Mark. Please reintroduce yourself.

I'm 28 years old and I am now employed as a kitchen chef at Boston Pizza. I also like to collect retro video games in my spare time. In fact, I just added two NES titles, two SNES titles and one N64 title to my library not too long ago.

(scattered laughter from the audience) Bill, he's off-hours. Anyway, good luck to you again. You'll be playing against Kourtney, whose account is already credited with $1,500. The object of the game is to get three stars in a row either across, up and down, or diagonally. It's up to you to determine whether the star is telling you the truth or lying through his teeth. That's how you get the square. We'll continue playing the game until we hear the time's up bell, and whoever is in the lead at that time will be playing the Super Match with Doug for a chance to win up to $100,000. (cheers and applause)Our celebrities are briefed in advance to help them with their bluffs, but they are hearing the actual questions for the first time. Mark Goodson's dead, so we can do that. Each captured square is worth $250 to that player, and winning game #1 is worth $1,000. Good luck to both of you. Mark, you are the champion, you get to select first.

What continent was believed to be made up of two islands until explorer Finn Ronne's expedition proved otherwise? And the answer is.... Answer: Antarctica(fade back into set) Before we get to game #2, let's review the scores. Mark leads $1,750 to 0, so Kourtney gets to begin this $2,000 game. It's also a Secret Square game. On our last show, we had a $14,050 trip to Malaysia. Now, we're going to add this prize to it. Shadoe?
