Definition: An arctic survey.
Solution: The north poll.
Growing up in eastern Canada during the 1970s, Definition was a staple on Canadian television and I watched it all the time. It ran from 1974 to 1989, hosted for the most part by Jim Perry before he hosted Card Sharks and Sale of the Century.
As you'll see by this video (skip to the 3:45 mark to get to the game play), it's more or less Wheel of Fortune, but without the wheel.
I used the search option on the forum, looking for the word Definition in any titles and it came back with no search results. I don't want to step on anyone's toes here, so if someone has hosted this in the past, please speak up and I won't do it, but if not, I am thinking of creating this show as I feel it would be a fun word game show to do.
For most of its run, Definition paired a contestant with a celebrity, but towards the end, each team consisted of a pair of contestants and no celebrities. That is how we would do it here -- have people sign up as teams of two with the winning team coming back as champions for the next episode. We would alternate back-and-forth between a teammate giving a letter away and taking a letter and like the video shows, either teammate could answer the pun if they knew it.
This is not a call for signups, just a "what do you think?" thread. If I do it, it'll be around the September/October time frame.
So, what do you think? Thumbs up or down for this?
Cheers,
Glen
