It's the return of--[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]And here is your host... Tony Lane![WILD CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Tony: Thank you, George Gray. Good morning everybody... and welcome to the season premiere of The Joker's Wild. During our hiatus, the stage had made some renovations and they now have added neon lights on the main board. However, the podiums in the Contestants' Row are adding some finishing touches during our final commercial break. The reason why is we have a special audience game that you'll be the first to see it happen. I'll explain later. Right now, let's introduce our two players with our special guest announcer George Gray. [JOKER'S JIVE THEME]George: Challenger #1 is an avid gamer. From the state of Florida, meet JOHN LOPEZ.[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]And challenger #2 is a supermarket clerk. From Council Bluffs, Iowa... meet MATT RINGGENBERG.[MORE CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Tony: John and Matt... welcome to season 2 of our show. First of all, let's meet John. Well Tony, as George mentioned I'm a very avid gamer though it's mostly in the realm of retro games, but on downtime, I like to focus on my love of writing, particularly writing screenplays.

That was short. [AUDIENCE LAUGHS]Good luck to you anyways. Before we start the game, I'm gonna move aside as we review the categories for our contestants. *open doors* [CATEGORIES CUE]we have SONG LYRICS, MIDWEST STATES, ABE LINCOLN, MULTIPLE MEANINGS, and finally COLORFUL NAMES. *close doors* The rules of the game is you select a category and dollar amount. A single category is worth $100, a double category/pair is worth $200, and a triple is worth $400. The first player to reach $1,000 or more wins the game and will be playing the Face The Devil bonus round. And inside each of the three windows we have Jokers, they're wild (hence the name of this show). You can match up the Joker(s) with any category you chose, and you can also use the joker(s) to go off the board, and select a different category. But if at anytime three jokers come up (that's Joker, Joker, JOKER!), that player can instantly win the game by answering one question from one category correctly; however, if unsuccessful, the opponent could not steal and the game continues as normal. We have an added surprise. If you get a natural triple with a category on all three windows, you'll win our Natural Triple Jackpot. So far, we have a digital grand piano and a scooter. Right now, we're adding a home theater system. [AUDIENCE OOHS] Before the start of the show, we drew numbers backstage to decide who takes challenger seat #1. [DING]And it is John. Whenever you're ready, pull the lever and let it go. *John pulls lever* [SPIN WHEELS]Song Lyrics... Joker... Abe Lincoln. Please select a category, Mr. Lopez.

Here comes your $100 clue. MIDWEST STATES - $100
Part of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase by the United States, this state earned the nickname "Gateway to the West" because it served as a major departure point for expeditions and settlers heading to the West during the 19th century. It's name also became part of a very famous compromise in 1820, regarding the admission of free and slave states to the Union. For a hundred bucks, what is the name of this midwestern state?
