Nice to have you here, Mark. Good luck to you both, as you try to match wits... ...with as many of these Zombie Patrol public information officers as you possibly can. (audience laughs and applauds)Players, each time you match a star, you win $100. But if you match 'em all, we augment your cash total to $1000. Win the game -- and we'll throw in an extra $500. Winner advances to Hollywood Squares to play against our champ. The winner *there* plays our Super Match which could pay off $100,000. (audience cheers)Kourtney, please start us off by picking A or B.

B it is and away we go. Ryan Seacrest said, "During today's taping of 'Wheel of Fortune', Old Man Perrywinkle was a contestant -- and must've had flashbacks to our previous format. Instead of vowels, he really wanted to buy BLANK." (audience laughs and applauds) (think music plays)

Sorry for the delay. I was busy running my annual HALLO-WHEEL OF FORTUNE for the local trick-or-treaters. I load the Prize Wheel I use for my convention games with wedges for candy & prizes (this year, those prizes were Hot Wheels cars, PODPALS mini-plushies & Marvel Comics TRICK OR READ comic books). Cosplayers come up my specially-lit path on my driveway and spin the wheel for said goodies. Been running it for about 8 years now (minus a couple of years due to COVID) and folks old & young love it.

And they're all set. Kourtney, here's the question again. Ryan Seacrest said, "During today's taping of 'Wheel of Fortune', Old Man Perrywinkle was a contestant -- and must've had flashbacks to our previous format. Instead of vowels, he really wanted to buy BLANK."

Back from shopping: a ceramic Dalmatian?
|
|
|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on Nov 3, 2024 21:30:01 GMT -5
(audience cheers)Doug: Ah, yes. Because once you buy the dalmatian, it's yours to keep. Gift certificates do not include sales tax and all that jazz. Anything related to the prize shopping era oughta work. Kevin, let's start with you. Kevin: Too much into flashbacks. He remembered on Sesame Street, he could buy vowels a lot cheaper, so we wanted... (buzz) (scattered boos) Doug: (impersonating Old Man Perrywinkle) Ohhhh -- now now! Back in my day, vowels did cost five cents. Ya see, "Wheel" goes back to the days of *radio* -- in the late 1920s. (scattered laughter from crowd) Doug: (impersonating Old Man Perrywinkle) You laugh -- but it's true. We could only solve seven-, eight-, and nine-letter words, ya see. And listeners at home would keep track with pencil and paper. (scattered laughter from crowd) Doug: (impersonating Old Man Perrywinkle) The show got better when it went to TV. Bryan, what'cha got, young feller? Bryan: Consonants (buzz) (scattered laughter from crowd) Doug: (still impersonating Old Man Perrywinkle) What? Oh -- I -- thought you said something else. (scattered laughter from crowd) Doug: (still impersonating Old Man Perrywinkle) Nick, what'cha say there? Nick: Well, if we’re referring to the old shopping format, I’d say he waned to buy (card) that dalmatian statue. (ding; audience applause)Doug: (out of character) And -- judge accepts. Doug: Yeah, that ceramic dalmatian does have a bit of a statue quality. So, we'd be cruel to buzz that. $100 for Kourtney. Let's see if more money's coming from the bottom row. Ryan Seacrest said, "During today's taping of 'Wheel of Fortune', Old Man Perrywinkle was a contestant -- and must've had flashbacks to our previous format. Instead of vowels, he really wanted to buy BLANK."
Doug: Tony, we're looking for a dalmatian statue or words to that effect. Tony: I'm telling you Perrywinkle is a certified playboy. He's so old and rich, the only thing he wants to buy is (card) Vanna. (buzz) (audience laughs and applauds) Doug: Ohhh -- dear -- brings back memories of -- oh, thanks, I'm being shown "hurry up". Will do. (scattered laughter) Matt? Matt: Man, he’s so old. He didn’t even have a TV, not even in color. Though of "A Christmas Story" for some reason here, where Ralphie had to decipher the code. He’s so old, he bought -- (card) -- Ovaltine. (buzz) (scattered laughter) Doug: Ah, Ovaltine -- not a match. And Glen, please wrap this part of the round up. Glen: Well, thinking back to yesteryear on that show, it can only be one thing I think (card) a ceramic dalmatian (ding; audience applause)Doug: Another match. Doug: Kourtney, $200 already. Mark's comin' up to bat.

Mark's playing A -- as is all the stars. And here it is. Tony Lane said, "How did Dumb Dora get passed the contestant coordinators on Battlestars? I had a hard time explaining this is a game show -- not a BLANK." (audience laughs and applauds) (think music plays)

Tell ya what. Let me get an answer from Mark -- and we'll check my Battlestars II game with Tony. Mark, here's your question again. Tony Lane said, "How did Dumb Dora get passed the contestant coordinators on Battlestars? I had a hard time explaining this is a game show -- not a BLANK."

(audience groans)Doug: So you're saying she had her games mixed up? Ohhh kay. Well -- anything's possible in Round 1. Kevin, let's start with you again. Kevin: Battleship, Battlestars. Same difference if you’re Dumb Dora. (card) (buzz) (scattered applause) Doug: Ah -- a sign she mixed her games up. Okay. Again, anything's possible. No match as we go to Bryan. Bryan: (card) Whack a mole (buzz) (scattered laughter) Doug: I could see that, too. No one's come to my answer yet. Nick, what say ye? Nick: A sci-fi reboot. As in Battlestar Galactica? (card) (buzz) (audience cheers) Doug: Now *that* was my thought. Dora thought "Battlestars" was, in general, a science fiction adventure. Tony Lane said, "How did Dumb Dora get passed the contestant coordinators on Battlestars? I had a hard time explaining this is a game show -- not a BLANK."
Doug: Now, I tell you what, let's save Tony's answer for last. Let's continue with Matt. Matt: Dumb Dora would definitely take that for a ride (card) (buzz)Doug: Another battleship -- albeit getting specific this time. Glen? Glen: (card) Celebrity wrestling competition. (buzz) (audience laughs and applauds)Doug: Now that's clever! Okay, Tony. We saved the expert's answer for last. What really happened? Tony: I've been sunked! (card) (buzz) (audience cheers) Doug: Another battleship. Doug: Kourtney leads 200 to nil after one round. We'll be back for Round 2 from Glendale -- after this. (audience applause; MG-HSH music plays)

Kourtney tries A -- as will four stars... ...Kevin, Bryan, Tony, and Matt. Belinda the bake shop owner said, "Biff, the baker I hired, is so dumb -- HOW DUMB IS HE?!?!? -- instead of chocolate chips, he's making the cookies with BLANK chips." (audience laughs and applauds) (think music plays)
