Over four years ago, I hosted a pilot here of a game show adaption of the card game Exploding Kittens. I was proud to bring that idea here, but I got discouraged about making it a regular show because I felt like the contestant weren't well-prepared to play the game. Still, I debated retooling it and giving it another try, and after brainstorming a new format, I'm ready to try it again!
If you're not familiar with Exploding Kittens, the object of the game is to use the cards given to you and drawn by you to avoid drawing an Exploding Kitten. If you did draw the Kitten, you had to have a Defuse card in your hand so you could put it back in the deck, or you would "explode" and lose. There's a lot of strategy and some luck involved, and the diverse selection of cards available (especially with the expansions) opened up new ways of playing the game. The goal was the same, though--to be the last one not to explode.
Adapting this to a game show format is very challenging, but I'm so inspired by game show adaptions of shows like Monopoly and Scrabble that I wanted to give this another go. I'll post the basic rules below, and people can tell me if they like it and what they like about it. I'm not asking for contestants yet--just fielding interest for right now!
Rules of the Game
Round One: Cash Builder

Hidden: 9 $ symbols, 1 Kitten
Players must pick one panel from the Game Board each turn. If $ symbol is found, the player banks money and can then pick again or pass. Finding Kitten eliminates the player from the round and reshuffles the Game Board with Kitten reset.
Round Two: Quiz Round
At the start of the round, each player gets one Defuse card for their hand. Objective is to get more cards from the deck by finding a common bond between words, revealed one word at a time.
Example:

Round Three: Battle Round
Players can Play cards from hand (see Deck Card Actions) or Pass and not play any cards. Unless a card played ends their turn, they must choose one of sixteen panels on the Game Board to end their turn. Each panel triggers a specific action (see Game Board Actions.)

The purpose of the cards in a player's hand is to mitigate the risk of revealing an Exploding Kitten on the Game Board. The end goal is to be the last surviving player.
Any player that explodes is eliminated from the game.
Surviving player wins the game and all money banked!
Final Round: The Catwalk

Players advance by correctly answering questions. Each question is multiple choice with three answers.

A player can ask for a specific card from any one opponent. If the opponent has the desired card in hand, the player takes the card and banks money.

Player is Cursed–the cards in their hand are shuffled and face down. The Curse goes away if they do not reveal an Exploding Kitten on their next turn.

Cash Collection
Players pay an equal share of cash to the pot. Board is reshuffled. When revealed a second time, the player revealing it banks the total pot.

Triggers a Carrot in a Box style minigame where the Player (or their opponent) could grab the Godcat, one of the most powerful cards in the game!

Barking Kitten
First Barking Kitten shown banks the player money If the opponent finds the other Barking Kitten, the player pays the opponent their stake. If a player finds both Barking Kittens, the player keeps their stake and also banks money from the opponent(s).
