WRC - WASHINGTON, D.C. Staff announcer: Jimmy Fallon -- tonight at 11:35.
(dramatic music plays) Steve Anderson: If you put $20 on the red.......$30 on the green......and $40 on the yellow......you could win $50,000 playing Three on a Match.("Jet Set" plays) Here's your host -- the star of Three on a Match -- Doug Morris!(audience cheers; Doug knocks on wall for good luck a la Bill Cullen) Thank you, Steve. Hellooooooo, everybody, and welcome to Three on a Match. We have a champion who is about $114,000 away from retiring a millionaire -- and a challenger who's looking to win a game just to stay in business. Please welcome back Kourtney Wilson and Matt Ringgenberg. (audience cheers) We should note that we would welcome a new challenger -- but in the last game, Kourtney gave an answer we weren't anticipating. We ruled it correct -- and that lead to a quick victory. To be fair to Matt, we didn't let the loss count against the challenger. The powers that be here at NBC also wanted the two unselected categories to come back into this game. So, with that... (board opens) ...as promised -- Go No Huddle and Nashville Notes are back. Joining them is Anything Goes. Kourtney, you're the champ. Which category are we starting with?

Let’s start with Anything Goes.

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Jun 20, 2024 18:22:19 GMT -5
Starting with our general knowledge category worth... (ding)...$60. Okay, with the riddlegrams in this category, we've taken titles and phrase and expressed them in other words. Players, its up to you to signal and come up with the original title or phrase. Good luck and away we go. 1. "'The Muppet Show' Band's Drummer"
2. "A Few People Enjoy 110-Degree Weather"
3. With force, pressing that Dear John letter container
4. Ye struck that rigid piece of metal atop its top
5. Precipitating felines plus canines
Kourtney and Matt, for each riddlegram, please PM me your answer and a buzzcode from 1-100.

1. "'The Muppet Show' Band's Drummer"
34 pathfinder20 16 mringgenberg 96 random.org (Kourtney rings in)Doug: Kourtney? Kourtney: “Animal” Doug: That's right. pathfinder20 mringgenberg
Doug: First point of the day is yours, Kourtney. Next one.
2. "A Few People Enjoy 110-Degree Weather"
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: “Some like It Hot”
Doug: Correct.
pathfinder20 mringgenberg
Doug: One more and you win the showdown. Matt, you'll need three in a row.
3. With force, pressing that Dear John letter container
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: Pushing the Envelope
Doug: Right for the money.
pathfinder20 mringgenberg
(scattered cheers)
Doug: Kourtney, $60 are on the way. But -- we do keep playing the remaining riddlegrams in the showdown. Every point in every showdown will translate to $10. *And* if a contestant can sweep all five points in a showdown, that's a $50 bonus. So, Matt, now you're playing spoiler.
4. Ye struck that rigid piece of metal atop its top
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: Hit the Nail on the Head
Doug: Close enough. I had *you* hit the nail on the head on my card -- but we didn't surround the riddlegram by quotes -- so we didn't need anything exact.
Four points for Kourtney.
pathfinder20 mringgenberg
(scattered cheers)
Doug: Chance at a sweep. Matt, let's see if you can *really* play spoiler.
5. Precipitating felines plus canines
73 pathfinder20 57 mringgenberg 23 random.org
[NOTE FROM DOUG: Matt passed on the previous three riddlegrams -- hence why you're not seeing numbers.]
(Matt rings in)
Doug: Matt?
Matt: Raining Cats and Dogs.
Doug: And you're on the board.
(audience cheers)
Doug: Oh did you need that, Matt -- or else Kourtney would likely go to the grid. Still lets crunch numbers. $60 for winning the showdown to the champ. We add in $10 for each player.
Doug: That means you have $100, Kourtney. That gives you just enough to go to the grid.
Doug: Now just to dangle a carrot here, we have the Double Dollars game in play. Find the three special cards, one in each columns, you'll win the game and play for tens of thousands of dollars.
So, Kourtney, wanna go to the grid or another category? And let's bring in a new category.
Double Talk.

Let’s with Go No Huddle
|
|
|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on Jun 23, 2024 7:44:17 GMT -5
Going no huddle for... (dings; audience cheers)...ah -- $50 and a doubler. Matt, great opportunity to get back in business. With the doubler, every point is now worth $20. The winner of the showdown actually banks $100. And if someone scores all five points, that's another $100 instead of $50. So -- lot of money can be won. Now -- the correct solution to each riddlegram leads to the name of a professional football team. We will need the team's home city and actual team name. 1. Our nation's capital's administrators
2. Those city of brotherly love's birds of prey
3. Those land of ten thousand lakes' corsairs
4. Those Nevada sin city's pirates
5. Those Ohio queen city tigers
Kourtney and Matt, for each riddlegram, please PM me your answer and a buzzcode from 1-100.

1. Our nation's capital's administrators (Kourtney rings in)Doug: Kourtney? Kourtney: Washington Generals (obvious edit) Doug: In the interest of fairness, our judge called for a stop tape to be 100% certain there's at least one football team at any professional level called the Washington Generals. A lot of you are familiar with the basketball team Washington Generals that plays against the Harlem Globetrotters and often loses to said Globetrotters. Judge, I understand the verification's complete. What's the ruling? (buzz)Doug: That's what I was afraid of. Washington Commanders is what we were thinking -- not Generals. Sorry, Kourtney, but the point's going to Matt. pathfinder20 mringgenberg
With that, let's resume with this.
2. Those city of brotherly love's birds of prey
54 pathfinder20 37 mringgenberg 22 random.org
(Matt rings in)
Doug: Matt?
Matt: Philadelphia Eagles.
Doug: That's right.
pathfinder20 mringgenberg
Doug: With that, Matt, one more point and you'll win this crucial showdown with doubled stakes. Kourtney, need three in a row here.
3. Those land of ten thousand lakes' corsairs
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: Minnesota Vikings
Doug: That's right.
pathfinder20 mringgenberg
Doug: You're -- not going to believe the sidebar joke the writers left me. (throws out card) (scattered laughter from crowd) Really, savages? Next one -- quickly.
4. Those Nevada sin city's pirates
49 pathfinder20 43 mringgenberg 39 random.org
(Matt rings in)
Doug: Matt for the showdown.
Matt: Las Vegas Raiders
Doug: That's right!
pathfinder20 mringgenberg
(scattered cheers)
Doug: Last one -- because this still means $20 to someone -- and that's a box in the left column.
5. Those Ohio queen city tigers
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: Cincinnati Bengals
Doug: *My* Cincinnati Bengals -- that's it.
(audience cheers)
Doug: Matt picks up $50 at double the stakes or $100. We now add in $20 a point instead of $10 thanks to the doubler.
Doug: Kourtney goes up to $140. But, Matt, with $170, the decision is yours.
Doug: Do you want to take your $170 to the grid and try to win the game -- or play for more money with another showdown?
Let's bring in a new category.
(ding)
Doug: Thumbs Up.
Matt, if I may provide one more piece of info. If you decide to pick another category, the winner of the next showdown would likely *have* to go to the grid because, by then, the winner of the showdown should be banking a total of $200 or more. And with $200 or more, going for the win at the grid is mandatory.
But you don't have to go for it now. Want to go to the grid -- or pick another category and start a new showdown?
(audience shout suggestions)

(audience cheers)With one loss against you and the champ having a good bit of money already, going for the win now, I think, is a good idea. (ding)So there you go -- $170 in the account. Good luck and off you go.
Matt, I'd recommend starting off with buying two boxes to start. When buying a box, please indicate "(amount) on the (color)".

If this is a yen, you still win. (ding) (scattered woos) But no -- it's a Double Dollars card. That and the other two special cards represent a chance to win more than $100,000. Matt -- I don't know if this makes decisions tougher. But, with $60 to go, you can try and find a third yen symbol for the win -- *or* -- try and find the other two Double Dollars cards, know they're never obstructed by a "no match" card.

Double Talk for... (ding) (scattered groans) ...$40. Matt, just putting this out there. If Kourtney collects at least 2 points and wins the showdown, the champ automatically goes to the grid. With that, Double Talk is one of our general knowledge categories. 1. "First Name of French Emperor Bonaparte"
2. Monday through Sunday twin
3. Grasp thy licker
4. "Kris Kringle's Arriving In This Municipality"
5. "Armed Conflict Plus Harmony"
Kourtney and Matt, for each riddlegram, please PM me your answer and a buzzcode from 1-100.

(theme plays; audience cheers) Welcome back to Three on a Match -- where we owe our players some money. We've yet to pay Kourtney $40 for winning the showdown. Let's do that now. And now let's award each player $10 for every point scored in the most recent showdown. Kourtney, you've got the San Antonio area code. Go Spurs Go! (scattered laughter from crew) I gotta get it in when I can. But seriously, you know the rule, when you have at least $200 in the bank, you can't horde the money, you have to spend it at the grid -- right now. (ding)And you also know in this situation, there's a stop sign. Once you find it, your turn at the grid ends right there and then. Good luck and go get 'em.
