(ding)A B, E and U appear. Danger zone's open -- rolls of 2 and 5 are unlucky. Mark, you may guess for $1600, roll again, or pass the dice.

(audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)And you roll a 6 this time. Only way to play the roll is the 6. So we'll do that. (ding)It's a G -- and, as you'd expect, the 6 joins the 5 and 2 among unlucky rolls. Mark, wanna guess for $1500, roll again, or pass the dice?

And a big roll -- yo-leven. (ding)Two Es -- and the danger zone's so wide, let's talk about the rolls that *work*. Mark, only the 3, 8, 10, and 11 are playable. You may guess for $1300, roll again, or pass the dice.

Okay, Nels. Let's see what you can do with the dice. (audience cheers as...) (Nels rolls) (audience groans) (buzz)Seven's not going to work here. Sorry. Mark, the highest remaining number of 10 automatically reveals... (ding)...the letter L. Mark, we're down to 3, 8, and 11 as the only playable rolls. I will also note if you nominate a player to roll -- and that nominated player rolls an 11, that player automatically banks $1000 because, by then, all the letters in the puzzle will be revealed. With that, you may guess for $1200, roll again, or pass the dice to Nels again.

All right, Nels. One roll of yo-leven and you'll automatically solve this puzzle. (audience cheers as...) (Nels rolls) (audience groans) (buzz)That's not a yo-leven. So that means the highest remaining number of 8 gives Mark... (ding)...the letter T. Mark, we're down to 3, obviously, as the only playable rolls. You may guess for $1100, roll again, or pass the dice to Nels again. Again, if someone rolls, the nominated player who rolls a 3 automatically wins $1000.

I have to pass. I simply have no idea what this word is

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Mar 6, 2024 21:19:31 GMT -5
Okay. Sounds like some in the audience know what the word is. Nels, it all boils down to this. Roll a 3 and you win $1000. Anything else and Mark wins $1000. (audience cheers as...) (Nels rolls) (audience groans) (buzz)It's a niner and Mark banks the $1000. (ASB win cue plays; audience applause) As for the word that's stumped you all this time... (ding)...it's Betelgeuse. You're probably familiar with the movie character Beetlejuice, with a different spelling. But you do pick up $1000 for tha-- (chimes; audience cheers) -- and -- well -- there's a follow-up question. Mark, this is for $1000. Answer it correctly and you'll have the lead. Miss it and Nels had a chance to pad the lead. So, Mark, for $1000 more, Betelgeuse is one of th-- (tacky buzzer) -- to borrow a line from a classic British quizzer, "I've started, so I'll finish." (scattered laughter from crowd) We've had a couple of long rounds -- so this game is going to boil down to this question. Mark, if you answer it correctly, you remain our champion. Betelgeuse is one of the brightest stars in the night sky -- and part of what constellation?

You are still our champion. (ASB win cue plays; audience applause) $2500 for you and a chance to win more at the main event. Nels, to paraphrase a famous football coach, you didn't lose, you just ran out of time. Again, we played a couple of puzzles that took a lot of time to play out -- this one and the Maine lobster puzzle. You just had to hope for a lucky break when Mark passed the dice your way here in Round 2 -- or, better yet, a stumble on the follow-up question that ended our game. You did pick up $2050 and that fantastic trip to San Francisco that Bill spoke about earlier. And this is your applause Nels Snesrud. (audience cheers)Mark's returning to the main event -- after this. (commercial cue plays; audience applauds)

(ASB cue plays; audience applauds) Mark Liotta is our champion again with $109,098 in cash and merchandise. (audience cheers)And you have a chance at a lot more. These are the medals you're trying to collect. We've split 'em in half. We now cover them... (chime sfx)...with these lucky numbers. You must roll the *combinations* seen up there to snatch the respective half medals. (prize music)Each time you put together both halves of a particular medal, you may trade it in for a prize. And here's the man with the goods, Bill Kennedy, with the good news on just what those medals represent in today's main event. Bill: All right, Doug. Mark, first for the bronze medal, it's a diamond necklace. (audience cheers)This necklace comes with a pear-shaped emerald surrounded by sparkling diamonds. Yours with a gift card from Service Merchandise valued at $8500.Next for the silver medal, it's our special game of Cash Card -- where a lucky roll and a lucky draw could net you $35,000 in cash. (audience cheers)Finally, Mark, for the gold medal, it's a new car! (audience cheers)The Jaguar F-type P300 Convertible comes with a two-liter engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, rear wheel drive, keyless entry, and much, much more. It's an amazing ride worth $78,420.So far, the potential value of the main event is $121,920. (audience cheers)Thanks, Bill. Indeed, Mark, that's just the beginning. If you're fortunate to collect all three medals, you'll win the car, the gift card, the chance to play Cash Card, *and* our cash jackpot of... (drum beats; cha-ching) (audience cheers)...$197,500. And remember, you can build up the jackpot as we play. Any roll of 2, 3, 11, or 12 is wild. That means we add $5000 to the pot -- and we give you the power to take any half medal. But when one lucky number remains, you must come up with a natural combination in a maximum of five attempts. Anytime your roll leads to half a medal that you've already captured, we'll add $2500 and let you roll again. However, any roll of 7 puts the main event... (danger zone cue; lights briefly flicker in certain parts of studio)...in the danger zone. That means any half medals you've collected will be at risk. The next roll of 7 means you end the main event with nothing. So at certain intervals I'll give you a chance to stop. (Doug hands dice to Mark) You won big the last time, Mark -- racking up more than $106,000 in cash and prizes then. Think you can clean house this time?

If you do, it will *only* be $284,420 in cash and merchandise -- (audience cheers) -- with Cash Card and further jackpot additions pending. (Doug hands Mark dice) Good luck and off you go. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)Starting with an 8. (chime sfx) Halfway to the gift card from Service Merchandise. Just need a roll of a 6 to complete the bronze medal. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls) (chimes; audience cheers) Yo-leven! A wild roll! (drum beats; cha-ching)$5000 more in the pot -- cracking the $200,000 barrier. Now, you can call this 11 a 6 and complete the bronze for the gift card -- or call it a 4, 5, 9, or 10 and be closer to winning the car or the chance to play Cash Card. What's your pleasure?

(audience cheers)Halfway to winning gold. (chime sfx) Moreoever, halfway to winning the whole kit and caboodle. Roll again, please. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)YES! A ten! Naturally! The hard way -- but that completes the gold already for the car! (audience cheers) (chime sfx) Just the silver numbers to go -- 5 and 9. Keep going, Mark. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls) (chimes; audience cheers) *Another* wild roll! Wowsers.
(drum beats; cha-ching)Okay, $5000 more for the pot -- $212,500. Now, do you want to call this roll a 5 or a 9? Think this carefully -- because the number you leave behind has to be hit naturally -- and you'll have a maximum of five chances to match that lucky number. What's your pleasure? (audience shouts suggestions)

(chime sfx) (audience cheers)The 5 it is -- leaving the 9 -- leaving you with five chances to roll that 9 naturally. If you get a wild roll of 2, 3, 11, or 12, we do add $5000 to the pot -- but we cannot credit you with winning the whole enchilada. Rolls of 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 will add $2500 to the pot each time. Rolling a 7 -- you're in danger -- then we have to talk about bailing out. Good luck, Mark, and go get that 9! (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)(loud groans) Ohhh -- a 5 right off the bat. (drum beats; cha-ching)If you'd called that last wild roll a 9, you would've hit the jackpot by now. Keep the faith. Four more tries at it. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)(scattered groans) Close call. There's an 8. (drum beats; cha-ching)As always, any roll that leads to half a medal that's already been collected adds $2500 to the pot. Roll 'em again, Mark. Let's see a 9! (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)(loud groans) A fiver again! (drum beats; cha-ching)$220,000 in the pot. Mark, how are you feeling with two shots to go? Crew: TWO SHOTS!(scattered laughter from crowd)

I would be, too, if I were in your shoes. Good luck, Mark, let's see a niner! (audience cheers as... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .) (Mark rolls)(loud groans) So close! (drum beats; cha-ching)Well, with one roll to go, this is the best news. If you roll a 7, you'll briefly be in the danger zone -- but you'll be out of rolls and, thus, out of danger. So, from here on out, there's nothing to lose -- and, hopefully, a lot to gain. (audience cheers as... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .) (Mark rolls)(loud groans) Another close call. (drum beats; cha-ching)Well, that was the fifth and final roll. This main event ends in stalemate. You don't lose the gold and bronze medals. You still keep the car and the gift card. (audience cheers)We'll throw in $5000 cash as a consolation prize -- that's still $1000 for each half medal you collected -- including the complete bronze and gold. This main event just about matches your previous one monetarily... (audience cheers)...$91,920. We add this to your prior winnings -- and let's see if you crack 200-grand. (audience cheers)Yow-zah! $201,018 in cash and merchandise. How do you feel?
