(scattered groans) Oh, sounds like some in the audience have this figured out. Please keep your solutions to yourselves. Mark, please roll. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls) (audience cheers)And it's a 9! Wow! Passing seems like a good idea -- but it's backfiring so far.
Only way to go with this is the 9... (ding)...for a B. Mark, obviously, only rolls that *work* are 8 and 12. You may guess for $500, roll the dice again -- or pass the dice back to Nels.

(ASB win cue plays; audience applause) There we go. I've never seen the price of Maine lobster go down from $1500 to $500 like that. (scattered laughter from crowd) (chimes; audience cheers) Hey now! Follow-up question. First of three in our game. Mark, you get first dibs at this question worth a further $500. If you miss, Nels get a chance to tie the ballgame. So, Mark, for $500 more... Name the capital city of the state of Maine.

(HR87 theme plays) A source for many of the puzzles and questions we use on Lucky Numbers is the 22-volume World Book Encyclopedia -- which includes the index volume and research guide. Our players always receive great welcoming gifts. Bill, please tell us about one of them. (scattered laughter from crew) Bill: A week for two at Mount Airy Casino and Resort. Play your lucky numbers at a world-class casino, then relax like never before with a spa treatment. Play 18 holes on a championship course, then sink your teeth into a USDA prime steak. The fun and excitement goes on and on and on. Your host with the most in the Poconos -- beautiful Mount Airy Casino and Resort. Bill: We'll be back with more of Lucky Numbers -- after this message.

(ASB cue plays; audience applauds) Back with more of Lucky Numbers, everyone. Mark solved the first puzzle -- but Nels picked up the money on the follow-up question. That's why we're tied. Now, normally when a new puzzle starts, the player trailing starts rolling. Rules say the player who *was* leading before the tie was created starts. Mark, you had the lead before the score was knotted at $500. So you're going to roll -- after we load in this new puzzle. (chime sfx) Eleven-letter puzzle this time. And Mark, please roll. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)And -- starting with snake eyes. Obviously, the only play is the 2. So we'll automatically reveal the letter behind the 2. (ding)And there's an A for that effort. Danger zone's open for business already. A roll of 2 is unlucky. Mark, you may guess for $1400, roll again, or pass the dice to Nels.

(audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)Got a 7. And let me check. Is 7 the only way to go? (inaudible, yet affirmative, response from judge) Okay. Then here comes the letter behind 7. (ding)It's a T -- and danger zone expands -- 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, and 12 are unlucky rolls. Mark, you may guess for $900, roll again, or pass the dice to Nels.

(scattered applause) (buzz) (scattered groans) Incorrect. Sorry. Certainly fits, though. Nels, you're in control as the highest remaining number of 11 reveals... ...a G. The unlucky rolls remain 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, and 12. Nels, you may guess for $800, roll, or pass to Mark.

Steve Garvey solve

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Feb 29, 2024 20:26:40 GMT -5
(ASB win cue plays; audience applause) There we go. Mark, ya did all that work and then you fell into a trap. Steve Harvey was a great guess -- but it was Steve Garvey we were looking for. (chimes; audience cheers) And we're about to find out why we had Steve Garvey in mind because it's time for another follow-up question. Nels, you get to play this. And this time, only you'll play the $750 question since there are only two possible answers. Choose the right answer and you bank the $750. Choose the wrong answer -- and Mark automatically banks the $750 -- making it a near tie game. So, Nels, for $750 more -- and this is a long question, so play carefully... Retired major leaguer Steve Garvey played most of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After the final out of the 1982 season, he signed a contract worth more than six million dollars with another pro baseball team that also plays its home games in the state of California.
Was Garvey's second team the San Francisco Giants or the San Diego Padres?

(HR87 theme plays) Bill: Today's runner-up will receive a weekend stay in San Francisco. We'll fly our contestant and a guest round trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco for a 3-day, 2-night stay at the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf, where they'll receive special attention and service, making their stay in this delightful and scenic city a memorable one. Bill: If you'd like to be a contestant on Lucky Numbers -- and you're going to be in the Los Angeles area -- please call 1-800-55-LUCKY between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time. We'll be back with more of Lucky Numbers -- after this.

(ASB cue plays; audience applauds) Welcome back to Lucky Numbers. We're about to start Round 2. We were tied at 500 -- but Nels has since jumped out to a 2050 to 500 lead. Mark, here in this round, puzzles start at $2000 each. And we have a $1000 follow-up question at some point in time. The next time we hear this buzzer -- (tacky buzzer) -- that means the game is over. The leading contestant then plays the main event. So, with that, again, good luck to everyone as we load in the next puzzle. (chime sfx) And just a ten-letter word this time. Mark, the dice are yours. (audience cheers as...) (Mark rolls)Starting with a niner. How do you play the 9, Mark?
